Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the Legion 7i's fantastic performance and solid build quality as major strengths. The keyboard and display also receive positive feedback, with many praising their features. However, some users point to less-than-ideal battery life and occasional heat generation as drawbacks. While some find the fan noise noticeable, others report it as manageable or even quiet under certain conditions.

Extremely good. Extremely powerful with that cou and gpu combination. Battery lasts about 4-5 hours watching movies and having about 20 tabs open and on battery savings. GPU is extremely powerful with frame gen and other studio drivers creative apps are smooth and fast. Powerful even on battery. Thermals are probably the best thing about the laptop. Playing cyberpunk maxed out with performance mode fan setting temps are around 78-80 on CPU and 65 to 72 on GPU.

This is a high end laptop and you can feel it once you start using it. I've been stress testing it by running games for as long as 12 hours straight and I never had a frame rate drop. The monitor is magnificen, to the point that I realised that my desktop monitor is not to the quality standards that I need. The plus of this laptop is that it doesn't look like a classic gaming laptop. It is elegant and you can easily take it to a business meeting and nobody will notice that it's a gaming one (besides the rgb keyboard, that I think you can turn off). I'm extremely happy with this purchase to the point that I'm delaying upgrading my desktop pc. I'd buy it again.

I recently got the Lenovo Legion 7i 16" (Glacier White), and it has completely blown me away. The Intel 14th Gen Core i9 paired with 32GB RAM makes everything lightning fast, whether I’m gaming, editing videos, or multitasking with dozens of tabs open. The NVIDIA RTX 4070 runs all my games smoothly on high/ultra settings, and the 2.5K LCD display is both crisp and vibrant—perfect for gaming and creative work. The build feels premium and sturdy, and the Glacier White color really stands out. The RGB keyboard is customizable and super comfortable for long gaming or work sessions. Storage is no issue with the 1TB SSD, which loads games and apps instantly. The only downside is that it runs a bit warm under heavy gaming, but that’s expected for such a powerful machine. The fans kick in efficiently, so it’s never been a real problem. Battery life is decent for everyday use but short if you’re gaming unplugged—again, normal for gaming laptops. Overall, this laptop is a beast in performance, style, and design. If you want something that balances power for gaming and professional work, the Legion 7i is worth every penny.

I love it, this laptop has been nothing but good to me, I use to a lot for gaming and it runs well. It’s my first laptop and I absolutely love it. Battery doesn’t last long at all but I hear this is common for gaming laptops. No issue to me personally.

I spent a stupid amount of time looking for a highly rated gaming laptop that didn't break the budget. I settled on the Legion 7i with the 14th gen i9 Intel processor. NGL, this is EVERYTHING I was looking for in terms of build quality. The screen is nice and bright (not quite an OLED, but no complaints), the hinges are firm but easy to open/close, the metal chassis doesn't flex like other laptops I've used, and I had no problem adding another HD, RAM DIMM, and Wifi 7 card. That, and my kid had a blast setting up the keyboard lights. No regerts.

I tested the 4060/16gb ram version of this and it was half as good, I also tested the ROG g18 4080 32gb and it was twice as good as this one BUT the build quality was just not there, and the size made it unpractical, the ROG g18 is a great system replacement, something that you leave on a desktop and never move, the lid would bow every time you lifted the screen. This laptop the Legion 7i has all the good stuff SOLID BUILD, absolutely solid, that was a huge deciding factor I really wanted to try the g16 OLED 16gb 4070, but it has soldered ram, and in this day in age 16gb is below the minimum, I would highly recomend the Legion i7 to anyone who wants a solid laptop that will last foe years, others may be more powerful but they will not last as long if you move them I really wish Legion had a OLED option that is the only thing missing on the legion series, even a IPS display might do it justice

    Beware Lenovo Quality Control!

I purchased the Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 9 directly from Lenovo's website. I'm leaving this review here because it seems there is no way to leave one directly on their site at the moment and I want people to be informed about this laptop. I managed to get a pretty good deal and was able to add an extended warranty on their site which I was happy about. The laptop at first seemed really great. I love the all metal construction! The keyboard on my first computer was great minus a small issue with the enter key on the numpad being misaligned, and it seemed to be more than powerful enough for everything I was going to throw at it. It didn't seem to heat up all that much under moderate loads, but definitely got hot when you pushed it. This was expected of course. Battery life was okay. The screen was acceptable for general use, seemed great for gaming, but probably wasn't going to cut it for creative work long term. It wasn't super poppy, but was good enough for me. Unfortunately the first one I received had a number of issues, outside of just the weird misaligned key I mentioned above. An issue I noticed almost immediately was that the trackpad was slightly loose on the bottom right corner. Any time I would tap or click that corner there was a very noticeable rattling sound. Not a huge problem, I dealt with it at first. But then after the first few days the finger print reader began to become unreliable. It would only work after logging out and back in, but wouldn't work after turning the computer on. If the computer had sat shutdown or with the lid closed for any length of time, three hours for example, the fingerprint reader wouldn't work. I tried everything I could think of, from registry edits to reinstalling Windows. Nothing addressed the issue. It's as if the fingerprint reader simply didn't work from a cold start. That was a deal breaker for me, since part of the reason I liked this Legion was the fingerprint reader. I initiated an exchange which took a few phone call and department transfers. Not surprise there, I understand Lenovo utilizes out of country contractors. 45 minutes after starting the process I had an exchange placed. No big deal, I was happy to have a new laptop on the way. Fast forward to today when I received the replacement. Holy moly! This one was bad right out of the box. As soon as I unwrapped and lifted the screen I could see that the keyboard was completely misaligned. The entire keyboard deck was shifted entirely to the right, and multiple keys in the center of the keyboard were misaligned. Some keys were tilted flush with the housing, and some keys were lifted higher than normal. Compared to the first laptop I had received this keyboard looked broken. The trackpad was also partially misaligned and sunken a millimeter in the bottom left corner. A click would cause the trackpad to recess even further. Something was clearly wrong with this replacement. I've attached photos of those issues here so you have a general idea of what to look out for. The keys shifted to the right and trackpad alignment issue are a little harder to see, but the lifted and tilted keys are incredibly obvious. I immediately called Lenovo and attempted to initiate another exchange. I figured three times the charm. Like I said I really liked this design and figured I'd be willing to go through the headache of another exchange if I got a good laptop out of it. Sadly Lenovo said they wouldn't be able to offer a second exchange, and instead would need to process a refund. I'm not sure why that was, perhaps they are having wider spread issues with this model and are opting to refund people who are having a number of issues, or they have some kind of policy against reported exchanges. They did say I could initiate another order after the refund was processed. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be doing that. This experienced has soured me on Lenovo. If two laptops back to back have these kinds of issues I can't rely on their quality control to ensure that I will have a reliable laptop for years to come. And that's a big problem for something that's $1,999. Sorry for the very long review. My one piece of advice to anyone purchasing this model: Look it over with a fine tooth comb, ensure that everything is working as intended, and be prepared to do exchanges and returns if you want to keep this specific model long term. Or look at other brands.

I absolutely love this laptop. It's big so I don't have to squint at my screen all day, and everything about it is perfect for my needs and what I wanted. I do wish that the battery would last a bit longer, and I have noticed some variability in the length of time before I need to plug it in, even when I'm doing the same things. That being said, it does still last me through the day and if I'm worried that it won't, it isn't difficult to bring the charger, although it is a bit bulky. The keyboard is not loud which I love because I hate feeling like I'm disturbing others with my typing. The background lighting on the keyboard is so fun and there are multiple lighting options! The laptop is a little bigger than expected because of the extended base, but it still fits in my laptop sleeve. I definitely recommend!

The V card is not as good as a desktop version, but it does the job nicely. You can't beat an I9 with 32 gigs of ram. Dang, good deal! If your gaming don't expect the battery to last long.

The overall experience so far has been net positive. Build quality is much better than most Windows laptop in the market with A,C,D metal panels. The unrestricted CPU and GPU power supply is a plus echoing to other people's comments. The touch pad could make slight metal-clicking noise if it's being clicked down as it appears to be a common Lenovo Legion issue related to the touchpad position to accommodate the addition of number pad. Key travel is solid and responsive. 14900HX is indeed power hungry and runs hot, so custom mode is very much a requirement to fine tune the performance and keep it from degradation over time.
