Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Legion Slim 7's performance, battery life, build quality, screen brightness, and portability, with many praising its lightweight design and excellent display. However, customers are negative about the laptop's tendency to overheat and generate noticeable fan noise, particularly under heavy load. Some users also expressed disappointment with the sound quality of the speakers and limited storage options. Overall, the positive aspects of performance and portability seem to outweigh the negative feedback regarding heat, noise, and audio for many users.

Connecting USB-C charging would charge the laptop at 20W then stop, and go, and stop, and go, and stop, and go, and stop, and go, and stop, and go, and stop, and go, and stop, and go. It would also flicker the keyboard backlight while charging from USB,

Game On with this very sleek, modern, and slim profile. It’s amazing they get this graphics power into just a slim package. The graphics are sharp, crisp, and fluid on games. Flight Simulator feels like I’m looking out a window at an actual landscape. The picture quality is amazing with movies too and built-in speakers were great on their own while traveling. I wanted the larger monitor and at first I was concerned it would be too big overall for my desk or for portability. While It IS large at 16”, I think it’s worth it. I have dual monitors on my desk, but I’m happy to say the larger monitor is fantastic when traveling or not on my desk. The setup was fast and easy and includes some free stuff like McAfee and free trial access to Xbox game pass. It’s great to have a dedicated numeric keypad and the key touch is good - responsive and quick but feels natural. The integrated mouse touch pad is very large and responsive as well. Did I mention earlier that IT IS FAST? Faster than any laptop I’ve ever had. Nice 1TB SSD drive gives you room for quite a few game downloads. WiFi 6 is also awesome! Internet speed test was ridiculous 390 mbps down and we only pay for guaranteed 200 mbps. Much faster downloads on this by far of any of our other pc’s and laptops in the house. While not inexpensive - definitely worth the price so far!

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you have encountered an issue with your Legion Slim 7. To help resolve your issue, first, we recommend checking for updates through Windows Update settings. These updates can help resolve issues from operating system bugs to driver software improvements. To navigate there, select start on the taskbar (windows logo) or press the windows key on the keyboard then select Settings. In Settings, select Windows Update, and then select the Check For Updates button. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required. If you didn’t have any updates that required a restart, it’s still a good idea to restart your device to make sure any pending updates are installed. Additionally, check for updates in the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled on Windows devices. You can check by opening the app, navigating to the device tab, and selecting the “check for updates” option. If there are updates to install, follow the onscreen directions to finalize those updates. If your issues persists after these steps, we also recommend that you reach out to the Legion Ultimate Support team at this number for additional assistance: 888-278-9707. Lenovo

I want to start this review by talking about what I did during this review period to test out the laptop. First, I really only play the Sims 4 (and allll of the expansions), but when I play it, I usually play for quite a while (2+ hours at a time). Otherwise, the computer was used for everyday tasks, like internet and word processing-type tasks. While playing the Sims, I intentionally left the game running without me playing and played it without freshly restarting my computer, like I've been having to do with my previous higher-end PC laptop. That being said, here are some of my pros and cons for this particular computer: Pros: * very sleek looking * great sized screen for pretty much any task/activity * fingerprint sensor keeps the computer secure * super easy to set up * graphics are crisp and clear Cons: * crashed 2x while playing the Sims, once the whole thing just froze and restarted itself, and the second time it crashed, and gave me a BSOD (blue screen of death) message, with the error code VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. I haven't been able to replicate either issue, and I was getting (different) BSOD error codes on my previous laptop, so I can't be 100% sure if the issues are the computer or the game, but I think in this case it was the laptop (the BSOD error code relates to the video card, while the ones I was getting on my other computer relate to Windows itself) * minor issue, but the touchpad is not in the center of the computer like I am used to on my other personal laptop and my work computers - even after over a week of using it, I'm still constantly misclicking and having issues with using the trackpad * it gets rather hot while playing games - like, it hurts to touch it hot, and I'm not even talking about on the bottom, I'm talking about the area between the keyboard and the hinge * another somewhat petty issue I had - the volume, brightness, etc controls are on the F row, which is fine, but you have to remember to click and hold the FN key, which for some reason took me forever to figure out and remember (I can't remember the last computer that didn't either have dedicated keys for this or that was the default for the key and you had to click and hold the FN key to access the F key function) * again, a nitpicky preference thing, but the speakers could definitely be better/louder!

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16 AMD Advantage Edition, model number 82UG0002US. Regarding the TDR error code you are receiving. Here is a link to more information and troubleshooting tips for fixing the issue:  https://softwarekeep.com/help-center/how-to-fix-video-tdr-failure-atikmpagsys. This Legion Slim 7 16 ships with a White Backlit, English (US) Version, standard QWERTY keyboard, with 10-Key Numeric Pad included. The touchpad is centered under the QWERTY keys, so that when the typist's hands are in the Home Position on the keyboard, the touchpad is centered directly under the typist's hands for easiest access. If you use the HotKey Functions more than you use the standard F-Key Functions, you can use the the FnLock Function located on the Esc Key. Hold down the Fn Key and tap the Esc Key. This will reverse the HotKey Function so you will not need to use the Fn Key plus HotKey combination. Just tap the HotKey you want to use directly. The standard F-Key Functions will now require the Fn-Key plus the F-Key you want to use to access the normal F-Key Function. Just tap the Esc Key again to reverse the FnLock feature and return the F-Key Function to the primary (Fn-Key not needed) position. This Legion Slim 7 16 AMD Edition ships with Stereo system speakers, (2W x2), with audio by HARMAN certification, and is optimized with Nahimic Audio. For the best audio experience, be sure to adjust the Nahimic Audio feature to your personal preferences. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7, one of the best gaming laptops I've used to far. Not just in terms of performance, but quality of life all around. Many of the other laptops would add their weird quirk to make their product unique, but Lenovo does none of that and come out on top. There is honestly not much I would add as this is already a near perfect gaming laptop. To start things off, this is an all AMD laptop. A monstrous CPU paired with a mid-high range GPU, this laptop will handle any game at the 1600p resolution, and if it is struggling a little you can go to 1200p and everything will be buttery smooth. If anything can be called a bottleneck in this machine, it would be the SSD. Benchmarked to be around 1700 MB/s, it is half the speed of a respectable NVMe drive. There is one DDR5 module, so no dual channel memory but can be added in later. Removing the back cover for maintenance is deceptively hard. Even with the manual, you have to use a lot more force than you'll feel comfortable with to pry it open. However, it only uses phillips screws so you do not need special torx bits. Usability of this laptop is what makes this most special. For me, it checkmarks basically all of the quality of life I wished all other laptops I've used had. Small things like a smooth rounded edge so that you can game on the keyboard without slicing your wrist after a while. Or having extra less used I/O ports in the back of the laptop so they don't get in the way. Or a dedicated button to turn off the webcam. Or most surprisingly, a keyboard and wrist pad that does not heat up to crazy temperatures when gaming. Or a dedicated power button that is out of the way, so you don't accidentally hit it when typing. And most importantly, actual useable function keys that you can either toggle on all the time or not. I cannot stress how happy I am that there is a touchpad toggle as a function key again, as windows just cannot seem to figure out how to detect a mouse. This laptop is a joy to use and after having to deal with the tragedies that other laptops make you put up with, you start to forget how good things can actually be. It isn't all without its flaws though. The one biggest mistake are the speakers. They are one of these worst laptop speakers I have had the displeasure of listening to. Basically, all treble and no bass, with sound quality just above a hallmark birthday card. I am not joking when I say an iPad sounds better. So, unless it is an emergency, I would highly recommend a dedicated set of speakers or headphones. Aside from the speakers, this laptop would be a solid 100/100. There are so many nice features, and any other laptop just can't compare. While not the highest spec laptop, it is good enough to play all your games.

I have always leaned towards another brand when it comes to gaming laptops so I didn't expect to be too impressed with this Lenovo Legion Slim 7. I was completely wrong! The 165Hz display is impressive to say the least. I noticed almost nonexistent light bleed...literally, I wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't purposely looking for it. Otherwise, the screen display was virtually flawless to me. The 2560x1600 resolution is amazing with excellent brightness, vivid color saturation, and images appearing sharp during game play. The X-Rite screen calibration app is easy to navigate and made tweaking things a breeze. My actual gaming experience on this laptop is virtually identical to a different brand gaming laptop I have. I didn't experience any lagging issues. Frame rates were smooth even when playing labor intensive games so far. The built in speakers might be the only complaint I have. The sound quality is worse than any other laptop I have owned ranging from low end to high end. That was surprising but not a deal breaker for me since I would normally opt for wireless headphones or one of my external wireless speakers instead. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice quality gaming laptop that won't leave you feeling like you need more.

Setup was your typical windows 11 process with loading of the updates. Not a big deal. Slim chassis and brushed aluminum disguises the laptop so it doesn't look like a gaming laptop. I can bring this into work meetings without looking like a dork. The laptop is very light weight but does not feel flimsy at all. It still has a solid feel at the same time. 2 usb-c, 2 USB-A, 1 HDMI, 3.5mm ports plus a 4 in 1 card reader is more than enough. Not having enough ports has been an issue with the previous two laptops that I have owned. Fingerprint sensor is a nice touch, it works fine for me. I really can't say much about it because it is my first time having this on my laptop. I like the backlit keyboard, at this point this feature is a must-have for me. If there is no backlit keyboard, then the laptop is not for me. The display quality is awesome, spiderman looks real good on this compared to playing on my tv. This has forced me into looking into an upgrade for my tv. Speaking of games, spiderman ran smooth during a couple of hours of gameplay. Does not get hot at all, runs cool all of the time. The sound quality is what you would expect from a laptop, but there are multiple ways to improve the sound quality, so this is not a big deal. The battery life is excellent for such a powerful laptop and it charged way faster than I expected. The only con is there is no ethernet port, I had to purchase an adapter. The adapter is now an extra item I will have to carry while traveling. I am very happy with this laptop because besides being a gaming laptop, I consider this an all purpose laptop.
