He seemed to enjoy it throughout the year but with 20 days left on the 1-year warranty, the battery died. The computer shows 89% on battery charge but dies as soon as power cord is unplugged. We are using all of the original equipment, cords that came with the laptop. This resulted in a nonfunctional laptop since some of his programs require a working battery. Will need to see how well Lenovo warranty works to replace/fix the laptop.

Upgraded the NVM module in the laptop to operate as the OS drive for the laptop. Only thing I dislike is the 1080p monitor on the system; would have loved a higher-res monitor on it though.

Everything was working great for first week. I installed all my softwares and copied all my data and it worked well for few days. After just few days it just stopped booting. It was sitting on my work table for all this time and it simply died for no reason. What a disappointment after spending lots of effort in setting it up for work. I googled many ways to start it and I ended with only one option that at least booted it in recover mode which gave me only one option - to wipe off everything and reinstall windows. I finally did that and simply returned the machine. It's a great laptop otherwise but completely ruined due to a cheap quality spinning hard drive.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you had an issue with your Lenovo Legion Y530 laptop. The issue you describe is corrected by restoring Windows 10 to original factory settings. To restore system, Optane must be disabled first in the BIOS
o Power down system, power back on and press F2 to enter BIOS setup
o BIOS setup > Configuration > Storage > Intel® Rapid Storage technology > Intel Optane, 931.5GB > Disable > Are you sure you want to disable > Yes > Disable
o Wait for 3 minutes
o The Disable process should be finished and there will be (2) non-RAID physical disks
o Press F10 to Save and Exit
- The system should now be able to be Restored
- After restoring, you will need to open the Optane UI from the task bar and choose Setup > Enable > Select “Erase all data on Intel “Optane” memory module > Continue > Restart. Now you can restore the Windows 10 operating system to factory original settings by following the instructions at this link: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/reset-windows-10-pc. Be sure to re-enable the Optane Memory after you restore the system, then restart the device, as listed above. If you continue to have an issue, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of all the other gaming laptops at this price point, this one had the best overall appeal to the case, bezel sizes around screen, and feel in your hands. I replaced the spinning hard drive with an SSD and kept the Optane module in the M.2 slot and this thing boots faster than my desktop with M.2 SSD without Optane (both 8th gen i7 with 16GB RAM). The only downside is connecting an external monitor -- the monitor I was using is FreeSync capable, but the Nvidia drivers only support FreeSync monitors over DisplayPort, which this laptop does not feature.
