Great system with just enough power for what my son needs. The 16G of RAM is the bare minimum and will need to be upgraded to 32. I have no complaints.

Since I got it, it's been making a buzzing sound intermittently along with an error that causes the laptop to reboot (these issues started almost immediately but I'll chalk them up to this being a certified refurbished machine). The volume is at the bottom and it is so low that you can barely hear it if there's any more sound in the room. Even before loading anything, the processing speed seemed okay at best. The default Lenovo tools are mediocre. Some of them worked, others didn't (the System Bridge did not). The PC performance is really only a metric to upsell you a support plan (it rates the PC as having issues unless you purchase the optional plan). I'll never buy another Lenovo. I've been disappointed with this one since I got it.

As expected with a laptop designed for use with Windows I've had a number of driver issues, but for the most part I've had minimal issues. If I'd known how my Linux system would perform on this hardware, though, I may have decided on another laptop.

To start, regarding performance, this could be due to excess heat which can lead to performance throttling to protect internal components. This LOQ is equipped with an active cooling system, along with other components and software, designed to enable the user to power through work without throttling due to heat produced. We recommend that the bottom of the device, where the air intake vents are, is clear of obstructions to increase air flow. Additionally, this LOQ features Smart Control, enabling the user to use the key command combination of Fn + Q to toggle between thermal/performance mode.
For instances where you may use the device in your lap or a situation where the intake vents may be obstructed, we recommend switching to cool or quiet mode to help with the heat felt on the bottom of the machine.
Also, please check for and apply any available updates through Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update Settings to help ensure you are using the latest software and drivers to ensure your system is running as efficiently as possible.

To start, with Wi-Fi, let's see if this can be address with software updates first. You can check for relevant updates via the Lenovo Vantage app. Start by opening the Vantage app, then on the homepage, select the Check for updates button, following on-screen prompts to apply all available updates. If this doesn't resolve the matter, please consider these other troubleshooting steps--
Run the Built-In Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Run the Network and Internet troubleshooter
- Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix issues.
Reset Your Network Adapter:
This refreshes all network settings and reinstalls drivers:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings
- Scroll down and click Network Reset
- Click Reset now and confirm
- Your PC will restart—reconnect to Wi-Fi afterward.
Regarding your issue with battery – as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery and in gaming laptops that can increase even more due to their high-powered processors and graphics cards. If you want to squeeze out more battery life and are completing non-intensive graphics tasks, you can utilize the MUX switch built into this model to turn off the dedicated GPU to greatly decrease power draw. This can be done in the Lenovo Vantage app > top right box > GPU working mode, then choosing your preferred method. Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words, along with custom settings configurable in Lenovo Vantage. You could also press the Fn + R key combo to toggle to a lower refresh rate for even greater power conservation.
