I've had this laptop for 5 months now and it is probably the best possible gaming laptop money can buy in the current market.
Battery life unplugged kinda sucks but its the trade-off you get with trying to save money but you need a powerful laptop for intensive gaming/high processing work in programs such as Arc GIS Pro.
Sound quality is extremely clear with no stuttering at all.
Screen is a decent size with a pixel perfect display even without it being an OLED or HDR capable display.
Definitely recommend investing an extra $30 - $40 for two Corsair - Vengeance 16GB DDR5 ram sticks and if you're looking for more storage pick up either a WD 2 TB or higher HDD or a Samsung - 990 PRO 2TB Internal SSD PCle Gen 4x4 NVMe for more internal storage. Does get pretty hot without a cooling mat to around 60° - 87° under normal gaming and higher. If you're looking for a portable gaming beast, this is definitely the way to go.
One thing I will say is to take the time to tweak your Nvidia settings to set your GPU to be the main video output as for whatever reason the AMD Ryzen cpu is what gets used by default for whatever reason. Even with that being the case still runs amazingly well for the price.

Ghosting / Damaged Screen

Not sure who to blame. The manufacturer, Bestbuy, or Fedex. The screen on both lower sides had large "ghosting" or damage screen problems. The Laptop has a plastic build. Oh and I confirmed with the manufacturer that the maximum storage is a total of 1tb. That includes the spare M.2 2880 slot. So, according to Lenovo, you could install another 512gb or replace the current m.2 2242 with a 1 tb. On paper this looks like a nice gaming rig. But I wouldn't trust the longevity of this laptop. Cheaply made and limited in upgrades. Unfortunately, we had to return this product. I wouldn't recommend it.

I’ve been using the Lenovo LOQ 15.6” Gaming Laptop (Ryzen 7 7840HS, RTX 4050, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD) for a year now, and I’m genuinely impressed with what it offers at this price point.
First off, performance is fantastic for 1080p gaming. The Ryzen 7 7840HS paired with the RTX 4050 (6GB) handles demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Apex Legends without a hitch. DLSS 3.0 makes a big difference in keeping frame rates smooth even in graphically intense scenes. I’ve been consistently getting 60+ FPS on high settings in most games.
The 144Hz screen is a major plus—gameplay looks fluid and responsive. It’s not the brightest display in the world, but indoors it looks great, and the color accuracy is solid. G-Sync support is the cherry on top.
Now, let’s talk about the design—it’s functional but not flashy. The plastic build keeps the cost down, but it still feels sturdy enough for everyday use. I appreciate the thoughtful port placement, especially the rear HDMI and power port. It keeps the sides clutter-free.
Out of the box, 8GB RAM isn’t ideal for heavier multitasking or newer AAA games, but the fact that it’s upgradeable made this a non-issue for me—I added another 8GB stick and it instantly felt more responsive. Storage is fast and ample for a few big games, and there’s an extra M.2 slot for future expansion, which is a huge bonus.
Battery life is average, which is expected for a gaming laptop. I get around 4–5 hours with light tasks and maybe 1.5–2 hours gaming unplugged. It’s definitely a “stay plugged in” kind of machine for gaming sessions.
Overall, this laptop hits a sweet spot. If you're looking for an affordable yet powerful gaming laptop with future upgrade options, this one is a winner. With a little investment in more RAM, it easily competes with more expensive models. Highly recommend for students, casual gamers, or anyone jumping into PC gaming.

I bought this a few weeks ago on sale and it is an absolutely incredible laptop. It is very very fast even with the 8gb of RAM (I upgraded to 32gb myself) it comes with. The 1080p screen looks really good, it is very crisp and literally looks like it's 1440p, I was really surprised by it, not sure what technology they use to do that. You need to change some settings in Lenovo Vantage and Nvidia control panel to make sure you're always using the discreet GPU (RTX 4050), and turn some power saving settings off to get the maximum performance out of it. I assume the bad reviews are because people don't know how to do that. It comes automatically using the CPU for graphics instead of the GPU out of the box. Make sure you change the settings and download the latest nvidia GAME READY driver. I'm super happy with it, it is as powerful as my living room desktop (Ryzen 3900x and GTX 1080) that I use to watch 4k movies and play games. It also doesn't look ridiculous with all the crazy RGB lights and stuff even though it's very powerful, which I like. This is excellent for gaming/video editing, or every day basic use, not sure why everyone doesn't get a gaming laptop like this. I thought 1080p might not be enough, but the screen is so crystal clear it looks just as good as my 4k setup with my desktop and TV, very surprising. The dlss and frame generation on the RTX 4050 are a godsend, I can run any game and it looks great. One thing is the battery life isn't super long when you turn the power saving stuff off, but as long as you're near an outlet it doesn't matter, I bought it for the performance, and it was totally worth it. Would recommend for sure!

I have had this laptop for about a month now. I purchased when it was on sale for $699 + tax. Based on similar specs of computers in the same arena this PC was an amazing bargain for the price. Right out of the box I went ahead and upgraded the memory to 32GB and added a larger 1TB as the 500GB storage would literally fill up with 1-2 modern games.
Build: The construction of the PC feels solid and seems lot better built than some Dells and HP's I have owned.
Performance: This laptop handles anything you throw it's way. I don't do any serious gaming but sometimes will jump in and play COD or Fortnite with my kids and it has never let me down. The speakers are nothing to write home about but I have a pair of decent speakers that I hook up to it. The Screen is decent for the price you pay and is on par with other similarly priced gaming laptops. I can't speak much to the battery life as I typically play with it plugged in. However the couple of times I have used it the battery functioned as expected. You'll get a few hours of light use out of it for web browsing etc, however you'll be lucky to squeeze 2 hours out of it playing any games while using just the battery.
If you can score this laptop while on sale it is an amazing bargain. You won't regret purchasing it.

I am always on the lookout for laptops that strike the perfect balance between power and portability. The Lenovo LOQ 15.6" Gaming Laptop exceeds expectations in this regard. Featuring the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor, it offers top-notch performance that's ideal for both gaming and professional tasks.
One of the standout features is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card. It delivers stunning visuals, making games come to life with vibrant colors and smooth animations. This, combined with the full HD display, ensures an immersive gaming experience.
The laptop's 8GB of memory is more than capable of handling multitasking with ease. Whether you're gaming, editing videos, or running multiple applications, the Lenovo LOQ handles it all without breaking a sweat.
Another highlight is the 512GB SSD. It provides ample storage for games, software, and files, while also ensuring quick boot times and fast load times for applications and games.
The design of the laptop is sleek and modern, with its Storm Grey finish giving it a professional look. This makes it a great choice for both gamers and professionals who need a powerful machine that also looks good in a business environment.
Battery life is impressive for a gaming laptop. It's more than sufficient for several hours of gaming or work, meaning you can take it on the go without constantly worrying about finding a power outlet.
In conclusion, the Lenovo LOQ 15.6" Gaming Laptop is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a powerful, versatile, and stylish laptop. Whether for gaming, work, or a bit of both, it won't disappoint.

I bough this on sale for $750 after originally ordering another laptop with a 3050 and boy am i glad i did.
for under $1000, its a very capable laptop, and pretty decent build quality and the keyboard was a pleasant surprise to type on.
8 gb is usable as well as the 500gb , however you can actually upgrade the ram and the storage (two slots available for each). so thank you Lenovo for giving us the ability to do this.
the biggest downside of this laptop is the display. yes it is 144 hz, but the panel has a slower response time than id like. this leads to high motion games, such as FPS, to appear hazy or a smearing-like effect. for normal usage, or games that are not as motion heavy, you wont notice it that much unless you're looking for it.
Otherwise, i really enjoy the laptop and hope to use it for years to come

Very pleased with this laptop. It has the ability to play a MMORPG while also having another social app open and still run smooth graphics. We did install another 8GB memory so the total is now 16...well worth it!! The fan runs a little loud, however it does not seem to over heat while playing for 4+ hours. I'll take the loud fan. Battery life is great.

I bought this laptop to be used as a workstation for design work in school, but I have used it for games a few times.
Firstly, the big issue. 8GBs of RAM is a huge bottleneck on this laptop. I bought this for a workstation so the first thing I needed to do was upgrade the RAM. luckily this device is easily upgradable so it is not to massive of a concern. This laptop has a great CPU and a decent GPU so it kicks through any kind of general work with ease, but as soon as you get into anything memory intensive it starts to stutter. I imagine that is how they kept the price down on this device, but $1000 for something with only 8GBs seems high to me.
However, the build quality and the general experience with this laptop has been great. It runs smooth and has a decent battery life. It also charges remarkably fast. You can go from nearly dead to full battery in about 30ish minutes.
If you looking to get this as a gaming laptop, upgrade the amount of RAM and this thing will be able to chug through most anything. You will likely not be able to crank the settings all the way up and get decent frames, but it is a solid medium settings starter rig.

It's very nice machine, but only after you add more RAM, as is with 8gb it's gasping to breathe, so if you add 8 or 16gb of RAM, then it runs fast and smooth.
I didn't keep it because I didn't like the audio of the laptop, the speakers are very low even at 100% volume, my tablet and phone push louder sound than this one. I tried many settings when using different headphones but the quality of the sound was not good enough for me, the only thing that worked is by using external USB sound card Sound BlasterX G1 paired with BeyerDynamic 990 pro studio headphones, but that will add another $180 to the price of the laptop and you have to carry these everywhere you go.
Other than that if you are picky with the audio quality and you just need to have any sound and the RAM is upgraded, this is a fine gaming machine, the Ryzen 7840 is as fast as Core i7 13620h, the RTX 4050 works at 95W power and pushed 120fps average on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, for comparison the HP Victus with RTX 4060 at 45W pushed 112fps on the same benchmark. It has second SSD slot to upgrade the storage. Nice 144hz screen with 350nits brightness. Medium heavy compared to other gaming laptops and the charger is not too large.
I really wish I could keep it if the audio was better, but still I can highly recommend it, and you can try it out for yourself and return it if it doesn't fit your needs.

Laptop is great and actually runs games pretty good. Microsoft flight sim runs at medium to high settings at 50 fps. The laptop itself is built great. If i had one gripe is probably that it only has 1 nvme slot. So if you need more storage the main drive has to be replaced but its simple to do. Ram is also easily upgraded.
