The idea is fantastic but the development and software lack. Also will not work with other types of AR/VR due to the actual screen being shortened due to the phone tray only showing a portion of the screen.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges. There are thousands of people who are having a lot of fun playing the game. It is a "smart phone" powered augmented reality headset game based on the Star Wars Trilogy. Star Wars: Jedi Challenges offers one storyline taking the player through more than 30 challenges across three types of experiences. And in January we added additional content, including new characters from on the "Last Jedi":
      • New Lightsaber Duel – Players can duel two elite Praetorian Guards featured in The Last Jedi. This is the first time Jedi Challenges players will duel two characters at the same time.
      • New Planet for Strategic Combat – Three thrilling new levels of Strategic Combat set on Crait, a brand new planet that debuts in the film, will come with the update. Battle new enemies and vehicles including the formidable First Order AT-M6 walker.
      • New Content in Assault mode – All-new enemies and levels will be introduced, including the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner and Riot Control Stormtrooper.
      • Introduction of Porgs – Players will be rewarded with fan-favorite porgs in augmented reality.
It is very important that the phone you will be using for the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges is on the compatible list, otherwise the hologram images may not be as the developer intended. Please find the updated list of phones at jedichallenges.com/compatibility. It is also very important that you let the "app" that is included guide you through the entire set up process. This insures that the system will be synced correctly. lenovo

I docked one star because my first unit did not work, the lightsaber would not sync to the phone so watch out for some bad units in the batch. However, I did not give up and exchanged it for a different unit. I am very glad I gave it another chance. It is not perfect, but is the closest thing you can find to real lightsaber fighting and it is a ton of fun. I have played the light saber game and holochess so far and I like it a lot and see the value for the price. I am pretty sure it will be expanded upon through the app over time, but there is a ton to do right out of the package. If you are a Star Wars lover, it's a no-brainer. Get this, I guess they will sell out before Christmas.

Get It For The Star Wars Fan In Your Life

I surprised my boyfriend with one of these headsets and he seemed to really like it, so kudos for that. I don't know a lot about Star Wars characters, but I did recognize Darth Maul (spelling?) and Darth Vader, and I had a lot of fun fighting them and the robot droids. We had some friends over during the weekend for dinner and ended up playing together after dinner. I like that the helmet is see-through so you can see the characters people are fighting even when you aren't wearing it. My iPhone 7 handed the game just fine. I used to have a Samsung phone and the Gear viewer, and the heat feels about the same as that. I wish the HMD was a bit more comfortable, but maybe that's me asking for too much. Overall I think it works well as a gift and I'd recommend this to others.
