Thank you for sharing your feedback, Michael. Users' experiences can vary depending on external factors (room size, weather, presence of animals/plants, etc.) and personal sensitivity. You can run the air purifier on the highest fan speed (and for more extended periods) to more aggressively clear the air; please make sure to close any doors and windows. Our support team is available to answer any questions to ensure you get the most out of your air purifier; you can find the contact information in the manual.

All of our air purifiers have the ability to filter out 99.97% of airborne particles from your air. However, with the PlasmaPro 400S, there is an optional feature to help further clean your air. The plasma function works by breaking down pollutants' molecular structure through the bonding of negative and positive ions. If you run the unit in an enclosed space for an hour or two, we're sure you'll feel the difference. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have to get the most out of your unit!

Very Well Thought Out and Capable Air Purifier

We already have another brand’s air purifier. I wasn’t convinced it did anything until we had a forest fire nearby last year – then the purifier was marvelous and helped to keep the smoke smell and ash to a minimum. We wanted to add a second purifier to place in our bedroom as the first one covers the living room and kitchen downstairs only. I liked the automatic functions and the extra features offered through the VeSync app so chose this Levoit air purifier. I also have a smaller Levoit at my office but it is not as sophisticated as the 400S. The Levoit 400s air purifier has a 3-stage filter that is all internal, including a pre-filter for larger particles like dust, hair and pet fur, an H13 True HEPA filter for fine dust, smoke particles and pollen and a high-efficiency activated carbon filter. The carbon filter can absorb smoke, odors and fumes. You can control the air purifier from a light-up display on the top of the unit, offering functions such as fan speed, auto, display on/off and a visual representation of the air quality. We opted to set the fan to Auto mode so it manages fan speed on its own but you can override and set it manually if you want. The VeSync app can be downloaded from your device’s app store and offers more features than just using the built-in controls. Once you log in and set up your purifier on your wireless network, it can use your location to see if there are any fires nearby as well as report the outside PM2.5 which is a measurement of a particular size of particle. You can then compare this to the PM2.5 the purifier reports in your room. In auto mode, our purifier uses this number to decide whether it needs to increase the fan speed or not. The app has settings for Auto, 1, 2, 3, 4 and Sleep, in case you want to make manual changes or put the purifier into sleep mode at night. We opt to leave ours in Auto at all times but we do manually turn off the display, which is rather bright in a darkened bedroom. It is a great addition that manufacturers sometimes forget on equipment that may be used in a bedroom and you can control the light from the top panel on the unit or from within the app which is nice. The main display in the app shows a graphical representation of the fan speed and then the Indoor PM2.5 level. Ours generally shows “1” which is the lowest PM2.5 number possible and the air quality is rated “Very Good” in the app. However, sometimes when my wife is doing her hair in the bedroom annex, we notice the fan kicks up and the PM2.5 setting is often much higher, indicating the purifier has correctly detected issues with the air quality and is working to fix it. You can also manually turn the unit on and off from within the app, as well as toggle on features like Plasma Pro or schedule when the unit comes on or turns off, plus a timer. Again, we only use the auto feature but for people who don’t want to run it all the time, these would be welcome features. The app will track filter life, with a % remaining measurement although there is an LED on the top of the unit that will also light up when the filter needs replacing. It is possible to reorder filters from within the app which is convenient. Our filter shows 99% remaining after one week which seems about right. The app also has areas to track cumulative hours running and cumulative square feet of purifying but I’m not sure if they are working yet or if my unit needs more time to start to show any data there. So far, they both just show 0.0, after a solid week of running. The app updated a few days after we got it and added the location feature. Before that, it did not track forest fires or outside air quality but does so now. The unit is very quiet on a fan setting of ‘1’ which seems to be the sweet spot. Our unit stays there when in Auto mode, when air quality is rated as very good. It does get a little noisier when it ramps up, as the air quality is detected to be worse but only runs on the higher fan speeds for as long as it takes to get back down to a rating of very good. You can put it in sleep mode if there is a chance it might ramp up during the night and wake you up but it will take longer to clean the air in that mode. Ours just seems to ramp up when my wife is getting ready for work or the cats are hanging out near it. The purifier will show different color LED rings around the top to show air quality – Blue is very good, Green is good, Orange is moderate and Red is bad! In auto mode, the fan will run very low for blue, low for green, medium for orange and high for red. There is a turbo fan speed as well but auto mode does not use this. The Plasma Pro function supposedly generates positive and negative ions that bind with any detected pollutants and neutralize them by breaking down their molecule structure – I have no idea if this works as we haven’t had any odorous gases, aerosols or VOCs in the vicinity but it sounds like a useful feature, if it works as described. We were able to set the square footage of the two rooms we wanted the air purifier to manage (bedroom and attached annex) and it uses that number to calculate how quickly it can replace the air, when it detects pollutants. You can set it for efficiency (fan runs faster to clear it quicker) or to be quieter (where the fan runs slower but much quieter than it would otherwise). We set ours for efficiency which means the fan runs higher for a short period of time and then goes back to almost silent running. It is possible to lock the top controls so if you have a child that likes to press buttons, your settings would stay in place. You can still operate the unit from the app when the display is locked. The manual says to wipe the outside down with a soft, dry cloth now and then and the inside can be vacuumed. The pre-filter is supposed to be cleaned every 2-4 weeks with a soft brush or vacuum hose to remove hair, dust and larger particles. The filter needs to be replaced about once a year. There is a procedure to reset the Check Filter Indicator which will light up when the filter is at its estimated end of life. The filter is easy to replace after you turn the unit upside down, unscrew the bottom and then just swap in the new filter. This appears to be an excellent air purifier and definitely a step above the manual purifier we already owned. The extra features, especially the auto mode manage the air in our bedroom well, striking a great balance between air quality and noise. Being able to shut the display all the way off at night is very welcome and having a few extra reports in the app is a nice bonus. All in all, this is a fantastic unit, priced well and the filter replacement cost appears reasonable. I would definitely recommend this air purifier.

DO NOT BUY! I am on the edge of returning the unit myself. The Auto mode is based on China's air quality. So the unit doesn't start to ramp up the fan spend unit the PM2.5 meter goes above 35/ppm. US EPA air quality standards are 12.4/ppm So if you ware planning to get clean air using the Auto feature, look elsewhere. I contacted their Support and they will NOT modify the firmware for US customers

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. At this time, the AQI standard or unit of measurement cannot be adjusted or calibrated. However, you have the option to create a smart scene for your unit through the VeSync app. This will allow you to tentatively change the settings for the PM2.5 triggers. We would be happy to walk you through this process. Our contact information is located in the manual; just mention this review. We will be on the lookout for a message.

This has been an excellent addition to my game room. I spend a good majority of time in there and I notice a difference in the air quality and how fresh it smells. I actually already had the app for this on my phone because I use smart plugs that utilize the same app. Very easy to pair and has awesome features. I love the graphing of air quality over time so you can see the effectiveness of the air purifier. I have it on auto but initially when I set it up I placed it on high for an hour or two. It’s noticeable at high but I on auto it varies. Every setting other than high is definite tolerable. I could see high being a nice white noise background for sleeping. It pairs and works excellent with Alexa. I typically don’t adjust it and keep it on auto all the time so Alexa doesn’t get much interaction but I do like to check up on the air quality in the app. It’s going to be interesting to see how this impacts my air filters in my ac unit. It’s in the same room as my main return for my ac unit. I don’t expect it to keep it clean but I am interested to see how the filters look as time progresses. Air purifiers are an excellent addition to every home especially if you suffer from allergies or are sensitive to dust. I couldn’t go back now that I have two in my house. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an awesome smart air purifier to add to their home!

I was really excited to get this unit for several reasons, all of which turned out to be fulfilled. Unlike many units I really like the look of this. Round kind of fits anywhere while encouraging good airflow. The remote is handy though truthfully I leave it on auto most of the time. It is amazingly good at sensing what setting it should be at and the amount of particulate matter is in the air to be neutralized. Even on high, it is very quite though some may find the need to manually turn it down. Most of the time we don't even notice it is working - but it does work and very well... Placed in-between the kitchen and living area of my home it has never disturbed me, my family or guests. The app was easy to install and link and has many features, the one i find most useful is the filter life as I never seem to remember to check it when I am home but when I am at my local best buy I can just glance and determine if it is time to pick up one. For us cooking odors especially fish, cabbage and the like can stay around for hours. In this heat I am not very happy to open the house up to vent. This takes care of the cooking aftermath efficiently and quickly without any need for us to do anything. It is one of those small things that really makes life easier because it just works.

Very Effective at Purifying Your Air

This air purifier is a bit on the large size, but gets the job done. It can take care of approximately a 400 square foot room. There are 4 fan settings and a 360 degree air intake. It will draw air in from all around the device. This is why it should be kept about 15 inches from any wall or other obstacles. Auto-mode function will sense the air around you with a “laser dust sensor” and can adjust the fan speed to work harder or lighter depending on the pollutants in the air. I have been using this setting the most. It has a sleek design and can either be placed on a counter or the floor. I have mine on my dresser and it only takes up a corner of it, but it is a bit tall. There is a control panel on the top of this machine and you can also control it via an app, which I will get into later. The control panel has an on/off button, timer button, fan speed button, sleep mode button, plasma button, display off button, display lock button, auto mode button, Wi-Fi indicator and air quality indicator rings. This machine works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. This function is very easy to set up with either Google Assist or Amazon Alexa. I happen to have both devices in the room and it works well with either one. With the app you can do the same things as you can on the control panel, but also set schedules for your air purifier to turn off and on. Setting up the app is easy. Install the app on your phone, make an account and follow the simple instructions. The filter replacement can be a bit expensive but is still almost half the price of some other brand air purifier filter replacements. It is very comparable to the more expensive brands that do the same thing with purifying the quality of air in your home. I think the best feature on this particular purifier is that you can actually see (via the app or control panel) the percentage of air pollution that the purifier gets rid of to make your home safe from those nasty pollutants and helps you with sinus problems, allergies and all those nasty thing that cause problems from your polluted environment. It also warns you when to change the filter on it, so there is no guessing game as to when it should be changed. The reason I highly recommend this particular brand is because it seems to do the same thing as my more expensive brand air purifier at a more reasonable price.

I have the Levoit - PlasmaPro HEPA Smart Air Purifier and I love it. All air purifiers are not the same. You may have one at home that you plugin and change the filter every once in a while. It might do an okay job of reducing dust and odors, but you do little with it but turn it on and off. This unit does so much more. Let’s start with the control panel. It has fan speed indicators and controls, a sleep mode button, air quality indicators, filter alert lights, mode controls, Wi-Fi indicator, PM2.5 timer display, display off button, and display lock button. You have a lot of control with this unit from the control panel or from the downloadable app. Personally, I really like the app and the ability to connect to it with IOS and Android. It even connects to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Using the app you can schedule how you want the unit to operate. I typically run my unit in Auto Mode. In that mode it uses a smart laser dust sensor to adjust the fan speed based on air quality. If the air quality is bad, the fan will automatically be set to a higher speed. Using the app also supports a Quiet Auto mode as well as an Efficient Auto mode. Sleep mode operates even more quietly by using a fan speed lower than low speed. The PM2.5 display shows the amount of airborne particulate matter that is less than or equal to 2.5 microns. They are so small, they can only be seen with an electron microscope. The air quality indicator will be either blue, green, orange, or red based on the quality of your air. If you don't want to schedule the unit with the app, a button on the control panel allows you to set a timer for anywhere between 1 and 12 hours. The display can be turned off at night so you don't have the lights showing in your dark room. You can also lock the display so nobody can accidently make changes to the settings. The unit has 3 separate filters. It has a pre-filter, an H13 true HEPA filter, and a high efficiency activate carbon filter. The unit also features a Plasma mode which releases negative and positive ions that bind with airborne contaminants and break them down. Overall, this is a very well-built and thought-out air purifier. My air has never been cleaner than it has been since installing this unit. I highly recommend it.

    Air Purifier done right

The Levoit 400S is a great air purifier that delivers everything it advertises. It has one of the most user friendly smart apps I have ever used, and you don't even need to rely on it. All the controls are available on the device itself and the icons are mostly self explanatory. First impressions are good and this may be one of the best purifiers I have used thus far. To begin, the setup is basically non existent. It is plug and play, and for those that are complete lazy, you can just press the auto mode and the purifier will do it's thing. The included onboard air sensor is pretty accurate, the readings it provided were within a percent or two compared to my dedicated air quality reader. A lot of other purifiers will offer auto mode, but you can never really tell what it's doing. However, here you can fully customize how auto mode works with the smart app, and set when the fan will kick in at certain particle levels. That is an amazing feature to have for an air purifier, and it's a level of fidelity that should be the standard. As mentioned before, the controls on the unit are basic, but the app expands it so much further. You're able to connect to it and check the air quality if that's all you want to do. You can even set it to auto turn on when the air quality hits a certain threshold. Honestly, that is an amazing convenience that is you wish you had. Let your air purifier cycle the air for you instead of you having to worry about turning it on/off all the time. I cannot say enough good things about how convenient this air purifier has been for me. This is a great example of a smart product done right. It gives you the easy of one touch operation, while also allowing you to customize it to your exact needs. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that is looking.

This is a well-built unit that does its job very quietly. For a device that runs continuously, I find that very important. It’s a basic cylinder in appearance with an LCD readout and touch controls at the center top. You can’t place anything on top of it because that’s also where the air exits. The single round filter is accessed from the bottom with a simple twist-lock system. It’s a three-stage true HEPA filter. Setup was quick and easy if you download the app and follow the step-by-step instructions. First, it finds your phone via Bluetooth, and then you link it to your home WIFI. At this point, all functions can be controlled remotely as well as on the top control panel. If you set the fan to auto, it will choose the speed based on the level of pollution or particulates in your air. As mentioned, it’s normally very quiet, but it can spool up if there’s a need to clean your air more aggressively. So far mine has stayed on low. If you’re in an area with smoke or such, I’d guess it will be speeding up to handle it. There’s a night setting that keeps it whisper quiet and turns off the LCD screen. There are also scheduling and timer modes. One thing missing in the app that I would like to see is a time log of your air quality. Levoit is among the big names in air purifiers, and this is one of their bigger units. It’s nearly 11” in diameter and a little under 21” tall. It draws air in from all around the lower section, and the recommended clearance is 15” from all directions. It takes a bit of floor space but can handle an area of up to 400 square feet. If you want to improve your indoor air quality, the VeSync 400S will remove dust and particulates as well as allergens, bacteria, and even airborne viruses. This is a solid choice that I would recommend.

    Best air purifier for sleeping!

Easy setup, works well and super quiet! At first I wasn’t sure if the air quality rings were working since it always appeared blue with only a 1-3 ug/m3 display…..my air quality seemed a little too good. After a few days I happened to blow out a candle near by and finally saw some action! Lit up like a Christmas tree on the air quality from the smoke going into the air. Not sure if it’s bad when you get excited when you see the air quality get bad :/ I like the fact you can see how much filter life is left using the app and being able to turn off the light display at night. I also like that u can adjust the fan speed or do auto. For myself, I like a little white noise while sleeping so turn it at a 3 fan speed which is perfect for me. If you don’t like any white noise this thing can purr super quiet. Only slight problem I had at first was thinking the darn thing opened from the top instead of the bottom to put the filter in. Couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t “open” it. Not my brightest moment.
