    Stinky, Squeaky, Drippy

We've been using this humidifier for more than a year and are basically dissatisfied, with main bullet points summarized in the title of this review. STINKY - The filters on the humidifier very quickly (usually within 1 month) accumulate a lot of hard water deposits and smell like a grassy, mossy swamp. The filters are not washable or reusable so these deposits can't be easily removed, and new filters must be purchased. It smells awful when using this humidifier. SQUEAKY - There have been problems with overall quality of the assembly from the start, in particular, the fan has a constant persistent squeak when it gets up to speed. It sounds minor but the squeaking sometimes gets very loud when we're trying to sleep. The motor and bearing itself are OK - It's actually the alignment of the fan blades. They are very slightly rubbing against the sides of the enclosure which can't be fixed without destructive sanding/warping of the fan blades which are brittle and do not bend away from the edge. Eventually I had to give up on this and call it as poor quality of assembly. DRIPPY - The pump does not reach all the way to the bottom of the tank, so when the water is low, it struggles to pick up the remaining 1 gallon of water and what it does pick up actually drips drop-by-drop to the bottom. It sounds minor but the dripping sometimes gets very loud when we're trying to sleep. There's no way to fix this except to dump/waste 1 gallon of water every time we refill the tank.

Good unit with large capacity and good features but definitely room for improvement (sounds, filters, humidity). There are lots of different sounds between the fan and dripping. I can manage the low/middle speed on fans but high is definitely audible. Sleep mode is mostly great but it drips loudly and also if you run out of water at night, it makes these three loud noises. I wish the filters didn’t have to be replaced so often and instead were washable. They do get a lil musty after 6 weeks and you’ll need to replace all 4 filters. Lastly, it’s winter here and this thing can’t really humidify air that well. At mid fan (tolerable noise), it maxes out about 35% air humidty

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We take feedback like this seriously, as it is always critical in making improvements. Generally, we recommend placing the wick filters every 3-6 months. Otherwise, the absorption ability will be affected, and the water that is drawn up cannot be absorbed effectively, which makes the water go back to the water tank and make a dropping noise. The Superior 6000S has a Dry mode that uses a low and high fan speed to dry the wick filters in the unit as to avoid any kind of moisture buildup or odors. Our support team is also available to answer any questions to ensure you get the most out of your humidifier; you can find the contact information in the manual.

In general a solid unit. However, in order to get humidity at night in our bedroom to 35-40% I would need to leave the fan on medium to high which is pretty loud. Also, the filters collect a lot of residue routinely and require more maintenance than I want to sign up for routinely.

This is a very nice unit and it works really well. The best I've used. With that being said the filters take some work to keep them clean. You must soak them in a solution of half vinegar and half water about every two weeks to a month. Otherwise you will spend a ton of money replacing the filters every month.

The X Humidifier has been a great addition to our wintertime living space. I’ve had it running for about a week now, and I’m pretty satisfied with it’s performance so far. Here’s the rundown. Packaging was great. The unit was well protected, and everything used is recyclable. Mostly cardboard with some #4 plastic bags (recyclable like grocery store bags). It was easy to unpack. No complaints. Setup was a simple experience. I’d say the whole process from cutting open the box to turning on the unit took me about 45 minutes, and that was with actually following the getting started guide. I found the documentation easy to understand. I like the filter setup. It has 4 small rectangular filters that fit into a housing rather than one large clunky filter like the unit on my 2nd floor. The replacement cost is similar to my other unit. Around $40 or so if I recall, and you should get a full season out of a set of filters. Note that there is another sponge type filter that goes in the water pump. It is NOT included in the filter set. You have to add the filters and the sponge to your cart. I think this is silly and a way they are nickel and diming customers, but it’s not a deal breaker for me. Just sell a full maintenance set at a reasonable price and quite trying to be so smart with your hidden operating costs. It has a drying mode so that when you are done using it, you can dry out the filters before storing until needed. I like the design. It’s basically a 6gal water tank base with the filters on top and covered by the fan unit. It uses a hanging pump to bring water up to a rail above the filters, which them trickles down over the filters, keeping them moist. It’s simple and efficient. This until takes up half the space of my older humidifier and holds 2.5x the water. Nicely done. It comes with a nice hose to hook up to a faucet to help refill the tank. It has a soft rubber head that streatches to fit any faucet. The tank is on casters, so it's easy to push it to a sink, fill it up, and push it back. it's heavy with 6gal of water in it, but the wheels work well. Just be careful not to tip it over. Wi-Fi and BT connectivity make it easy to manage the device from anywhere. Inside the app, there are all kind of options. Manual, Auto, based on specific humidity, etc. You can save different schemes for when you are home, on vacation, daytime, nighttime, etc. To be honest, after playing with it for a week, I think auto does just fine. You can also operate from the touch buttons on the top of the unit if you aren’t into connected devices. It can pump a lot of moisture into the air. When I first turned it on, I cranked it up to see what it could do. It put 6 full gallons of water into the air in just under 24 hours. It generally runs for 2-3 days during average weather in central Illinois winter. A few things I noticed. While this until is strong, and does a great job overall, it did struggle to keep the humidity up when we were hit with a cold snap. To be fair, the temps were -15F at night with -40F windchills, so the furnace was pumping out very dry air A LOT. It could still keep it near 40% humidity across the room, so I’d say that’s pretty good. If you live in an extremely cold climate, you might need a little more, or better insulation! Now that our temperatures have come back to normal in the 20’s/30’s, it keeps up just fine. I have it holding at around 55% humidity. The fan is pretty quiet on low to mid settings. It does get to a noticeable level when it cranks up near high. I have it in the dining room adjacent to the living room, and I sometimes turn it to manual and lower the fan speed while watching a movie. 90% of the time I don’t really notice it. The only laughable thing I found it in the maintenance section of the manual. They say you need to completely clean the water tank every 3 days. Ya…like that’s going to happen. They have to know that nobody is going to tear down the until every 3 days all winter. They also have to know that this isn’t even necessary. I hope this is a case of someone being overzealous with their manual and not a get out of warranty free card for the manufacturer. Either way, there is no way I’m cleaning that tank every 3 days. Overall it seems to be a great product. Time will tell whether or not it keeps running. It is strong enough for the main living spaces of my first floor and is easy to operate. Other than not including the pump spung and trying to tell me to clean it every 3 days, I’m liking what I’ve got.

Levoit Superior 6000S Smart Evaporative Humidifier is a bulky but quiet machine. I like that it is programmable straight out of your phone and through Alexa/Google. Set-up was not complicated but it could be better. It was easy to get the compactly packed machine out of the box. The components were nested inside each other. So, when it is time to tuck away the humidifier in summer, it can be nested away nicely. The directions were not hard to follow. However, the text-font of the manual is really tiny and images are extremely small. This is surprising because there are loads of white space around the text and images. I missed seeing a link to a video containing the set-up process. I did find a Canadian review video that helped with a question I had about the set-up. An official user manual video would be nice. Questions about ideal placement, ideal humidity, maintenance, and so on were not easy to find in the manual. I do not mind that the filters need to be changed pretty frequently. But information about where to buy them from should be more readily available within the user manual. It is not easy to roll away the machine into the kitchen or bathroom for tank refills. There were, however, no spills during the rolling process when the water was filled to MAX. The tank needed to be refilled after around 30 hours, but I guess it depends on the weather. The programming was easy with the app. However, I wish there was the option of start and end time for a certain setting. That can avoid having to create multiple program settings. The air quality is now better both on my first floor (where I placed it) and on the second floor. It seems to be keeping the humidity at around 50%, which is very comfortable for us at this time. Would certainly recommend it to friends.

The Levoit 6000s is a large humidifier capable of being used to raise the humidity in medium to large sized homes. The unit consists of four core components, a large 6-gallon water tank as the base that has attached rollers for ease of movement (as most people will have difficulty lifting a filled water tank), a support frame which sits above the tank and snaps into the top of the tank, a wick filter frame with four individual filters and a powered top component which contains a fan, controls and a display. The design is quite ingenious as the powered portion (top) pulls air and water into the filters via the filter frame and dispenses humid air through the top. What is really a desirable feature with this unit is it DOES NOT produce a mist and thus if you have hard water, you do not see mineral dust on the surfaces of your home. Mineral dust is a problem I have run into with traditional humidifiers. The unit can be controlled from the top panel, and also pairs with a smartphone app. The smartphone app provides a good history of your indoor and if you setup the smartphone with location services enabled it will gather the currently outdoor levels via the internet. The app also provides full control of the unit. Also included is a filling hose which attaches to your faucet to aid in filling the tank, the hose and faucet fitting had me do a double take, as it is visually interesting. The unit also has a humidity sensor so it can cycle the unit fan to bring humidity levels up to your desired level. I used this humidifier during a bit of a cold dry spell in the southeast US, setting the unit to fifty percent relative humidity level and it mostly kept up and never got below five percent of the level I set. The humidifier started to cycle off and on less as the weather changed and the outdoor humidity increased. Over the course of four days I had to refill the tank at once, I was surprised that it used so much of the six gallon capacity. The fan in this unit was a bit loud at times when really pumping humidity into the air, however it always sounded controlled. The unit also has a sleep mode which reduces the fan noise as well as turning off the blue colored LED display to ensure the light does not disturb you. The unit will remind you when it needs to be cleaned, after three days it started to notify me that maintenance was needed. Constant maintenance is needed with most humidifiers to ensure bacteria or mold does not form on the components and it is no different here. A small brush is also provided to enable you to clean the filters of any mineral buildup, mine had none. The unit also has a dry mode which helps to dry out and prepare the wick filters for user maintenance. The manual also mentions that the four filters should be replaced every 3 months, but depending on your usage you may get more life out of the filters by promptly cleaning them and allowing them to dry out when humidity is not needed to prevent mold growth >>> Pros >> large tank >> strong fan >> humidity sensor >> easily disassembled >>for storage within the supplied fabric bag. <<< Cons: << ongoing issues with availability of the wick filters. << maybe a bit heavy some folks when the tank if full

I got this humidifier because I wanted a unit I could control from anywhere and that would keep the humidity level pretty steady. This seemed to be the right pick. When I unpacked the unit, it was packaged well with the filters in individual bags. There's also a cleaning brush. When I continued unpacking, inside the water tank I found a dark gray bag. I have a 7 year old Hermann's tortoise who likes humidity so admittedly this is not my first humidifier. None of the others came with a bag. I set it aside and kept going. It also comes with a long plastic hose. More on that later. There are several steps to assembling it, but they're pretty easy. It's just a little time consuming because you have to literally unwrap and unbag everything. But that wasn't a problem because that means the filters are clean. After assembling it and making sure everything was correct, I inserted the hose through the large hole inside and toward the back of the unit and put the other end over the faucet and turned the water on. It took a couple of minutes because the hose is kinked inside the wrapping, but once the water started flowing the hose straightened out and it worked great. It was so easy to fill. This unit has a huge 6 gallon tank. That hose is a life and back saver. After filling the unit and turning it on I set it up on my home WIFI which was very easy once I downloaded the app on my phone. I set the humidity to 45% and let it go. A few hours later, I went to check on it and discovered that for some unknown reason the humidity was 60% and not 45% as I had set. There was nothing else running to humidify that room. Luckily, having the humidity that high isn't a huge problem for me, but for some it could be. I double and triple checked everything couldn't find a reason. This same scenario keeps happening. All I do is keep watch on it and make sure it has water. The big tank comes in handy. Back to the bag I mentioned. I read further in the instructions and there are instructions on how to store the unit including running dry mode which dries out the filters, taking the unit apart and assembling it differently to make it smaller which is very easy to do and storing it in that gray bag! YAY!! This is really a great unit and I highly recommend it. I would just keep an eye on the humidity level to make sure it stays where you need it.

When I received the Levoit - Superior 6000S and opened the box I was impressed. I’m a stickler for how a product is packaged, and it seems to never fail that if a company takes the time to produce a quality package then more than likely the product will be a hit. This is true for Levoit! The assembly is simple, it took longer to get the plastic off than it did to assemble it. I did take the time to clean the tank even though it was not dirty as the directions suggested that you do. It comes w/ a hose that you can attach to you bathroom/kitchen faucet and fill the tank. It holds 6 gallons of cold water. The app was a breeze to install and setup and connect to wi-fi was also simple. The app does take a little time to get used to and understand what/where to navigate, but once you get that down this machine is very, very well made. I set the humidity to 50% and w/in a few minutes it had reached that level. I then set it to auto and it ran for a little over 3 days until I had to re-fill the tank. It has made a HUGE difference in the air in our entire home, and the casters that are already installed make it a mobile humidifier and refilling the tank that much easier. I can tell a difference, especially when I sleep that the air is better. It has been extremely cold in Virginia the last few days w/ snow/sleet and our home is heated by a dual-stage system, a heat pump and propane furnace. The air gets extremely dry when the furnace is running the majority of the day instead of the heat pump, since I received this and began to use it I can really tell the difference it makes. It comes w/ a small brush to help w/ the cleaning of the tank and other parts, and it also has a reminder to dry the filters which is a plus. With the app and the control panel you know how effective the filters are and when to dry them. If and when you need to store the Levoit Superior 6000S it literally stores inside itself and comes w/ a bag to store it in. I am very impressed w/ the quality and simplicity of this evaporative humidifier and I would highly recommend it
