I understand the safety feature, but the button always catches my finger and pinches it. I don't like that. Maybe find a different way to open the door. Otherwise love the microwave and Best Buy.

I dislike the the 2 finger open but like that with a screwdriver you can disarm that function. I wish the clock didnt time out and have to be reset every time you want to see it.

That is an issue for my friend as I she is older and her eyes aren’t as good as they used to be. It also took her awhile to get the clock set following the directions. Ki wish I had known this before Zi got it

We understand that the lack of a backlit keypad is an inconvenience, especially given the gift recipient's eye sight. We've confirmed that the SmoothTouch® Glass Controls on this model are a sleek glass touch panel and do not have backlighting for the buttons themselves; only the time/cooking functions on the main LED display illuminate. We regret that this design feature was not what you or your friend expected, as we know how helpful a backlit keypad can be.
Regarding the clock setting, we understand the directions can sometimes be tricky. Generally, to set the clock on this type of LG microwave after plugging it in:
Open the door.
The display will likely show a flashing time or "12H."
Use the + or - keys to set the hour, then press the START/Enter button.
Use the + or - keys to set the minutes, and press START/Enter again to finish.

It works really well, but honestly I only ever use the timed cook instead of any presets. I think when I read other reviews people were saying the buttons were hard to press, but the buttons seem to be touch sensitive almost, you just need to keep your finger on the button for a moment until you hear a beep.
