This is actually a very good microwave oven but we have replaced it a few times. It appears that microwave ovens do not have a very long life. We have chosen the same model again because it is the right size and the right price and works efficiently. But, if you buy it and use it a lot every day, it may only last a couple of years. Buy the protection plan!

I bought this yesterday to replace a 13 year old Sharp that I loved but finally bit the dust. I bought this one because I like the LG name, mid size model fits great on a counter, looks nice. So far it's working fine and heating up food quickly. The interior light is much dimmer than my last one but it might also be a function of the dark interior - I think I would've preferred white. My kitchen is very well lit so I'm not having problems with the keypad but it really should be back lit. My only real complaint (reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is the plastic covering on the microwave. There's a sticker on the unit that is a little confusing but seems to say that you have to peel off a clear plastic that covers the outside of the entire unit. There's a caution about how this must be done before operating otherwise moisture will accumulate and make it difficult to remove the plastic. Well let me tell you - it is impossible to remove that plastic. I was successful in taking it off the front part, covering the clock and keypad but it's like some Punked bad joke for the rest of it. I couldn't grab it at the back corner (as the sticker suggests) and other spots that I was able to start peeling, you get maybe an inch and it rips so you have to start scraping all over again. Finally gave up and just started using the microwave. If anyone has removed the plastic and has any tips - please pass them along! Other than that, the oven's great and I'm happy with it.

Picked this one for size, ratings and features. We ignored the comments about the panel's visibility, until we got it home. After squinting at the small letters and dark, no-contrast letters on the control panel , we took it back to exchange for a different brand /model that we could read. Other than that, I would have kept it. It was very quiet. i said 'not recm'd ' based solely on the panel.

This small microwave is powerful. It doesn't take up a lot of counter space. It's light and easy to move. It heats food rapidly. The EZ on setting is perfect for reheating small meals. I recommend stainless steel cleaner to remove smudges and fingerprints.

We bought this because our previous microwave (a Panasonic) crapped out on us after just 2 years. (The infamous door not closing properly problem leading to failures.) The LG has worked very well, though we've owned it almost a year now. I like the rounded interior corners, the quick start options, and the overall appearance. The interior light is on while cooking and if you leave the door open you can shut off the light with the clear button or it'll shut off automatically after a few minutes. The 'reminder beeps' after your item is cooked is also a great feature to prompt you to retrieve your food. (This can also be turned off.) It's a little pricier than similar sized microwaves. The quality of microwaves I've used within the past ten years (mostly Panasonic) has declined considerably, so it may be worthwhile to pay a little extra and buy something that will work consistently. If this LG can make it past 5 years at least, I will deem it excellent and purchase more LG appliances in the future.

Have been using it for over four years without any issues. Gets the job done, slightly loud but reliable.

The turn table in this unit sounds like a cement mixer. Don't like that time of day display goes off after a short period and you have to touch enter to get it back. Also the biggest problem is the door does not open beyond 90 degrees and makes it hard to get stuff out.

Purchased this microwave for my mother and had great features and very reliable.

I hate to throw cold water on all these lovely reviews, but mine just died after 21 months of moderate use. There's only 2 of us. This was the second one. We brought one in March, 2013 and returned it in less than a week because of the noises it made while running. Got the second one that just died. Should have known better- when we exchanged the first one there was another sitting behind the service counter that had also been returned. I think a microwave should last longer a little longer (as does the rest of my family!).

Extremely noisy. Panel not lit. Very difficult to see the numbers because the background is black. LG is becoming a bad choice of products to buy. This will be the third product I return in a month (TVs and microwaves)

I really like the size and ease of use of this microwave. The exterior looks slick and it is easy to clean. I would have given it the last star except that it lacks some of the one touch features that other microwaves have.

Wanted an high quality easy to use microwave that works on a countertop. This microwave has worked great for several months now and I expect for many more years.

Overall this is s very good microwave oven. It cooks well and its 1.5 Cu. Ft. size is ideal for most kitchen counters. The curved interior edges and easy clean surface are big pluses.

2 years is all mine lasted. It was nice while it lasted. Liked the size and cleanability, but thought microwaves lasted more than 2 years. They just don't make them......like......they used to??

This was exactly what we were looking for. It is easy to clean, looks good and is the perfect size for the space.

IN the market for a new machine, and could go a little smaller since two of our four children have moved out since the last purchase of a microwave. Did a lot of looking, read a lot of reviews and the wife wanted stainless. This fit the bill in all respects. Only downside I've seen in the four weeks since the purchase is just as much our issue. The keypad is not lighted, so depending on the angle, we may not be pressing our intended target. Otherwise, it fits the bill!

The control panel is not backlit. OK but also the characters are very faint on a black background. How did this ever get out of the lab or focus groups? At first, I thought I didn't set it up properly. But there is no clarification in the manual. I then read the reviews here and saw that others have made the same comment. I don't get it. It's going back tomorrow.

I am not a heavy microwave user, but this does everything I need it to and looks great on my counter. I love the energy saver button (turns off the digital clock when not in use) and the "more" time button, which increases the time left by 10 seconds. Perfect!

After making the rounds of all of the major stores locally I decided on this item as the best compromise. I deducted one star because it has a hot spot. One corner of a microwave dinner will be a little overdone. When I can and I think of it, I move things around during heating to prevent this problem. Still that shouldn't happen. I deducted another star because the panel is seriously hard to read. The picture might suggest that it has white numbers on the keypad but they are in fact grey. A lot of people have kitchens with less than perfect lighting and those people won't be able to see the numbers.

Surprising for an LG product. Just bought an LG refrig and is not very good quality either. Was sticking with same manufacturer for all our appliances, may reconsider. Good microwave but sounds very hollow, loud and cheap when opening and closing door
