    Magnetron went bad in 13 months

    Worked fine for the first 13 months when I didn’t use it much . Being at home quarantined the family depended on this microwave and it broke. The microwave started to make a strange lawn mower type noise which per my research was the magnetron failing. It continued to get worse throughout the next few weeks and sounds like it’s about to blow up!! I had a KitchenAid prior to this which lasted 5 yrs but thought I’d try an LG but that was a huge mistake. Of course the thing fails after the warranty is over and even though the magnetron is still under warranty the repairs for that cost almost as much as a new microwave. This is ridiculous and LG should cover the repairs as well. I complained to the CEO and some woman named Tori said she would get back to me but that hasn’t happened!!! On a side note Best Buy’s Geek Squad did a terrific job when they installed this back in April so I will continue to purchase from them but never LG again as this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth!!

    Disappointing Buy

    Today received this microwave and had Best Buy installers install the same. The installers were not at all professional. We don’t have an external vent and the installers were supposed to change the vent motor direction to make it a front exhaust. But that was not done and after when I checked and found the vent was blowing somewhere inside I called them back immediately but no response. Called back Best Buy customer service and got a new date for the reinstallation for 22nd Oct. so until for next 22 days, I am unable to use the vent. Ready a very bad experience.

    Avoid LG Products

    Don't Buy - bought in 2021 and had it installed by BestBuy Was replaced in 2021 - then a major repair done in 2024 - microwave was making a loud bang when you first turned on - It was out of warranty - becuase of safety issue LG sent a technician out for free and he replaced all the inner workings - now on the blink again - total waste of money and time. LG won't stand behind their products. Also have an LG Gas oven purchased in 2021 - has had 2 repairs so far - had to pay BestBuy to repair in 2024 because LG would not fix a former issue they caused from former repairman.

    Worst Customer "Service"

    I would give zero stars if able to. We purchased this MW about a year ago. It worked fine for a month and then the power would shut down after 3-5 secs. The repairmen had to come back twice to fix. Seven months after that the MW went out of commission for power loss again and popcorn setting not working, and essentially has not been working since (overall about 4 months of lost usage) due to lackluster repair, waiting for parts, and continuing failure. It is still not fixed and at this point we want a replacement. Customer "Service" was contacted multiple times. Frustrating experiences with CS reading from their script. Filed 2 complaints with "President" No response. Call backs from LG have not occurred, ever. Promised that "we will back to you in 24 hours" Nope, never happened and LG is continuing to block me from getting a replacement. I am amazed that they continue with this. They would have saved themselves some decent money by not sending repairmen 7 times. Would not recommend.

    Typical LG product

    Sensor that detects when food is done went out within the first year. Unable to use preprogrammed food settings because of it. Works fine manually. LG products have a tendency to break within a couple years and it's cheaper to buy new rather than fix it.

    POOR QUALITY OVER-THE-RANGE MICROWAVE

    I purchased this unit along with the complete kitchen suite of LG appliances. From day one after install it has been nothing but a problem. Heat generated from cooking on my new LG range caused the control board on the microwave to fail. After the control board was replaced the internal fan and resonator failed. I have had LG service at my home three times to fix this microwave and am scheduled for a fourth. For the most recent issues I have had to wait nearly a month to get the unit repaired due to a part being backordered. LG thinks it's ok to have a customer wait a nearly a month without being able to use the failed appliance. I think that is poor customer service. I requested the unit be replaced after the second repair service visit. Then I demanded it get replaced after the current problem with the unit - LG denied. Their obvious position is that it is ok for the customer to do without the appliance. I purchased the kitchen suite on 6/29/19. In less than six months I have nothing but problems with this microwave and the LG dishwasher I purchased (control board had to be replaced on this as well). My suggestion is to think twice before purchasing LG appliances. I know I will not purchase LG again. I would have a totally different attitude if LG customer service had some compassion and cared about the customer experience. They definitely do not care. If you must buy LG appliances consider extended warranty you'll need it.

    Great for first 3 years...

    Bought this May 2020, and then it completely broke in May 2023. The clock and overhead light still works, but as far as cooking goes, it would cost more than the microwave! It worked great for the 3 years we had it, sadly, not sure if I'd buy another LG microwave because of this.

    Not worth the money

    This microwave worked only 4 months and then completely died. Even before it died it didn't heat food well and took much longer to cook items then our last microwave. The warranty for the microwave allows for a free repair but it's been two weeks and lg still has not fixed it and now they said it will be almost 3 weeks before the repair. We are very disappointed in this microwave and lg's service.

    Does not heat after a few years

    Bought this microwave in 2016. In 2019 the Magnatron tube failed and it would not heat. Had to have a repair guy replace the tube. The tube was under warranty but had to pay for labor. Then again in Oct 2021 the Mag Tube failed again. The guy who fixed it wont fix LG's anymore because they are to hard to repair and he cant get parts. Stay away from this Microwave.

    Beware of LG Customer Support/Warranty

    I bought this microwave for my new house. A couple of months in it intermittently quit heating food. I filed a claim and they fixed it. (Kind of). When my initial warranty was about up I bought the extended warranty because I was still a little worried about it. I was thankful I did when the same issue started happening again. Unfortunately, when I called in my warranty claim LG said they wouldn't cover it because of the terms and conditions. I would not recommend this microwave or LG products because of their customer support. I would highly recommend not to waste your money on the extended warranty. They are just trying to take your money with no plan to cover the warranty claims.

    Terrible Experience

    This microwave worked well for two years, 11 months, then stopped working and it was not worth fixing as the repair was more than I paid for it. Would not recommend. Replaced with a Samsung and hoping it lasts.

    I do not recommend this product

    I bought three LG appliances in May 2013. A high class fridge (so I thought), this microwave and a gas range. The fridge had to be completely replaced (after they attempted to repair it 4 times). Now this microwave has stopped working, it has power but it will not heat up food. These appliances are only 18 months old. I will never buy another LG product again.

    Was great for first 2 years

    I have had this microwave for about 2.5 years. A few months ago several of the screens buttons started to not work. For example, the number 7 button doesn't work and several other of the programming buttons have stopped working. Also, for the last 2 years, the unit makes a strange grinding noise at times, not always.

    Engineers who will never install this product

    Based on features and reliability, this product would probably score high. But, the engineers designed this blind to real world installations. This microwave says that it needs 30" width to install. That is very common. What is not common is that the engineers made the door pivotal extra inch on the left side. So if you have a wall oven next to your cooktop, as I do and is not unheard of, you can not open the microwave door. If your cooktop is next to wall, you might run into the same issue, Due to lack of insight these Samsung engineers engineered a microwave that excludes some kitchens that have the minimum 30" clearance that is standard in the industry, but don't fit into the generic 12" deep wall cabinets on either side of the microwave. This is really sad on the part of Samsung.

    Lasted 14mo, Warranty meaningless

    Extremely disappointed in another LG product short fall. Issues with Washer/Dryer early failure and warranty in the same pattern as this microwave. Chased warranty from home warranty, to Best Buy, to Best Buy electronic repair, to LG corp. Simple Magnetron 10yr joke warranty ($45 part) turned into $300 warranty repair Could not even purchase part through LG or Sears. Phone help desk 35min to 1 hr hold, before transfer to Executive Help Dept (complete with repeating brainwash message every 15 seconds) then no satisfaction. The product should not have failed in the first place but support is even worse. Would never recommend an LG Appliance to a friend

    Waste of time and money...poor design

    Had this for less than two years. 23 months to be exact and getting an error code of F-3. Meaning touchpad is shorted out. $400 for a microwave that lasts for 23 months is not acceptable. To make matters worse the repair part is not available. So I will be forced to replace this microwave. Cannot see food cooking because of black panel inside of the door. Stupid design. My suggestion would be to pass on this model and brand. First and most likely last LG appliance I purchase. Had a GE before that lasted well over ten years.

    Poorly made

    It still runs, but installed less than 5 years. The bar above the door that contains the vent just fell off. JUST FELL OFF. Poorly made.
