It was returned and we bought a sound bar with a middle speaker on sound bar

It wasn't very loud at the maximum level. Don't use in a living room.

Constantly cuts out, even with a wired connection. Called the Best Buy store, and told them the problem and walked them through how I set it up, they said to just not use whatever options don’t work and just use what works best, instead of offering that it’s a defective unit.

Good sound bar for the price has good base and sound

Technology is wonderful when it does what it is supposed to do. Right out of the box, the sound was extremely inconsistent. I tried various changes to the new LG TV to see if that would take care of the problem. Nothing has worked. I am about to download the fix that is supposed to take care of this issue. The main reason I bought this LG soundbar was because of the new OLED LG TV. A major disappointment from a company that I have purchased numerous products from a stove to microwave to refrigerator to washer and dryers. I shouldn't have to download a fix especially when both items are from the same manufacturer.

Replaced a Vizio 5.1 and boy do I regret it....the sound doesn't compare. Purchased the LG 4k 60" and wanted to upgrade the sound but that didn't workout. I would and will be going back to the Vizio really soon.

Out of the 5 soundbars I’ve purchased, this one is by far the worst. It is also the 3rd most expensive, so there isn’t much value. I’d highly recommend Visio over LG.

I get this at best buy as a used sound bar I get it with no remote and I spent lots of money buying remotes for it none works

I bought this sound bar to go with my new LG OLED C7 55". The sound bar is incredibly easy to connect. I plugged everything in, turned it on, it auto synced with the subwoofer then it was ready. Afterwards, I chose the LG TV function setting and my TV prompted to connect. One remote controls everything. When I turn off/on the TV, the sound bar will turn on as well. I bought the LG Wireless surround speaker kit to go with it (SPJ4-S) and these were just as easy to configure. I simply plugged the speakers into the subwoofer/receiver, and powered it on, the wirelessly synced with the main subwoofer and I didn't even have to do anything. The sound quality is amazing! I put on a couple movies and they were loud and very clear audio. I can hear things that I haven't been able to hear before with these speakers. Definitely recommend this sound bar, especially if you have an LG TV with sound sync.

Sending it back for the second time to be repaired!

I've only had this for 2 days. I took a chance on it b/c of cost and for the a clean install. I would suggest you also read SuspectZulu review, as it is very detail. My Purpose: I have a media room upstairs with a 7.1 surround, but normally that room is only used for movies and video games. This system was for our family room connected to the kitchen. We are in there most days watching regular TV shows, listening to music channels and watching Football. Our 60" LG TV 60UH6035 (mounted over the fireplace) doesn't sound full especially with music. So I was looking for a soundbar that could fill this space with sound. There is no place to store a receiver next to the fireplace and we also didn't want floor speakers. Impression: The SJ5Y-S soundbar by itself sounds very thin. The speakers are small and at higher volumes its almost tin like. Once I added the rear speakers SPJ4-S the sound changed the rear sound is supportive but also brings everything closer. I cannot recommend the sound bar by itself but with the rear speakers its a good deal with adequate sound. Connection: This is my first time using a soundbar and was concerned about the connection and ease of use. So I bought a matching LG brand to make things more simple. I used the ARC HDMI ports and the system turns on/off with the TV/Sat equipment. It automatically turns on the sub/rear speakers. I believe most bars would work the same way. Would I purchase again: Yes, I would because of the rear speakers. The Sub is a little weak and has a fabric face instead of the floor facing ones. The sound feels like a cheap 5.1 system and that is a good thing for a soundbar with wireless rears. If I was only buying a sound bar I would recommend the JBL: JBLBAR21BLKAM as the JBL seems to have better sound projection and a more solid sound at higher volumes. Final Comment Honestly the wireless rears are amazing and make the system.

If you are looking for a sound bar for your room (excluding large rooms) - then look no further and just purchase this sound bar. I previously purchased the SJ4YS for one room (10X10) and it was just so great that I decided to purchase this model SJ5YS for our other bedroom (12X14) and we just enjoy it so much. The first thing you'll like about this sound bar the easiest set up (took less than 10 mins). Second, the vocals from your TV are very crispy clear. Thirdly, the surround sound is pretty good too (watched Moana on Netflix and you can hear the sound from different speakers depending on the scene. Note: If you are purchasing this sound bar or the other SJ4YS - please also get SPJ4-S surround speakers to the full effect. Just be watchful of best buy deals and they frequently are included for free with the sound bar. We got the surround speakers for both sound bars absolutely free. That is why Best Buy is Best.

2017 ID badge on center bar. Works as good as day 1. Mostly voice is thru center bar, it's a 2.1. Sports/Gaming/Movies...turn it up and enjoy! Paired with Lg Smart 65", Lg BR/DVD.

This sound bar is a great addition to my living room. Its a large room 19×20 and this system fills it well.

Buyer be ware. Buy the Best Buy warranty. I bought this and 32 days after I had it I started to get a high pitched whinning nose when I changed channels. Bestbuy said tough luck, and refered me to LG. LG said, buy a new Optical cord and try that, and if that doesn't work then we will send out a technician. All this for a $200 (Including TN tax) purchase. Buy the way. If you don't buy Bestbuy's warranty. They could care less about you.

I choose this unit to replace my 2015 sony unit with 300 watts of power. Figured this would be great due to the extra 20 watts and the ability to add rear speakers. Never added the rears because my older unit sounded WAY fuller and got way louder than this LG unit. If you dont have a soundbar then this will be fine, if your looking for an upgrade THIS IS NOT IT.

I purchased this sound bar after my previous older model LG sound bar stopped connecting to the subwoofer. I listened to the store model on display and it sounded great. My previous LG sound bar was cheaper low end model so I thought this would be a great upgrade. Once I got it home and all connected I was no longer impressed. Even with the Bass and subwoofer levels at the lowest setting and the Treble turned up the audio just sounded too muffled and echoed. Music sound so-so but wacthing a movie was almost unbearable. For a week I tried to convince myself I would get used to it but I couldn’t and just returned it. I exchanged this mid level sound bar for the much cheaper, low end LG SH3K and the cheaper one sounds so much better than the SJ5Y. Do yourself a favor and trust this review.
