It is pretty clear, but it is not loud enough for me. It sounds like it has echo on all settings, with or without the additional rear speakers. I t is not too bad, but I kind of wish I would of spent the extra money on the JBL sound bar with 10 inch subwoofer. My wife says it sounds awesome to her.

Improves TV sounds

Mildly satisfied. Loud and clear, bass subpar

The sound bar itself does very well. And it functions better than I had hoped. I wasn't sure I should stray from Samsung since my TV is one, but this one detects the optical input and goes into standby when you power off the TV. The TV remote volume control also worked without me having to do anything to program it. Those are all pluses. The downside is the subwoofer. It sounds hollow & cheap. I have messed with home and car audio for years and bought this for my bedroom TV. I have toyed around with the subwoofer placement with distance from the wall and even turning it backwards and also trying different distances with that as well. All to no avail. I get more bass from my JBL Charge 2 bluetooth speaker. *Also I bought my girlfriend a Samsung 2.1 setup and it blows this LG out of the water with less (claimed) power.
