    Gorgeous but water tasted like plastic

    We owned this gorgeous refrigerator for 3 weeks but exchanged with GE cafe due to bad water taste. The water smelled and tasted like the plastic of the new refrigerator. We have flushed tons of water for two weeks but the taste still persisted. Called LG customer service and a technician came out and claiming that the water tastes fine and it's either psychological problem or some mineral is activated due to temperature change. We tested without filter and sat the water in the reservoir for two hours and the tastes even worse. After re-installing the filter, the plastic taste got lessened so filter was kinda working. It is a bummer to have an expensive refrigerator and buying drinking water from grocery store for two weeks. So, we exchanged to GE cafe and delivered today. After flushing around 40oz of water for 10 minutes, we got our water back (and also made me even more angrier to looking back past 3 weeks)! We are very happy with the new GE refrigerator and thank to bestbuy's exchange policy. I do agree that this is more gorgeous than the GE. But hey, GE delivers drinkable water while this one does not. Also, I am not sure whether you want to deal with LG customer service as they don't admit defect. Just double down with geeksquad policy. Bottom line: if you taste water like plastic with this one (or perhaps any other refrigerator), just don't waste time with customer service or flushing. Just call bestbuy, and setup return or exchange ASAP!

    Happy with purchase!

    We avoided getting this fridge for the longest time and finally bit the bullet. I was concerned it would be too small inside as the shelves are not very deep - the fridge holds much more than you think and we have plenty of room. While ice dispenser is small we have not noticed it. Finish is smudge proof. THREE things I wishe were different : get rid of plastic door on the inside of the knock glass, get rid of plastic drawer in freezer, allow the fridge drawer above the freezer to stay out - it automatically closes which is hard when your hands are full and your trying to put a platter or sorts in the fridge. Otherwise very pleased and happy the allowed price matching !

    LG does not follow through with their warranty!

    I will never buy another LG appliance again. They DO NOT back up their warranty. I have tried to work with them for 2 months now on this fridge- as the compressor(the part that cools) went out. They have led me on from setting up repair people (barely anyone works on LG compressors BTW), to promising me a whopping $300 for a $1200 repair. In ADDITION, they charged me $400 to cover the labor and have never refunded me the money. So... I am not going to spend thousands on an attorney and they know it. You cannot speak to anyone in the US, and the one time I did, she said she would be with me until resolved... YEP, once again, big fat broken promise. NEVER. AGAIN.

    Noisy and stopped working after 2 years¡

    The fridge looks great and worked fine for a few months. But then i started noticing that you could hear the motor running pretty loudly. I called support and they said it was normal for it to have a humming sound but this is louder than I have ever heard a fridge sound. Both my brother and sister bought the same fridge so i checked theirs and they are both very quiet so it is obvious mine has a problem. Well, we put up with the noise since it is not covered any more by warranty. But now the thing just completely stopped cooling. So I have a $3000 piece of junk that Best Buy won't even repair for a charge! They flat out refused to look at it even though i am willing to pay for them to service it!

    Never buy an LG

    Four years into buying this refrigerator the compressor and other things broke down to the tune of $1250 for repairs. Not sure will repair, but did find out that LG has known about this issue since 2014 and continues to put in these same parts. Since it has been going on for eight years, I can only assume BestBuy is aware of this issue and continues to sell these products.

    The refrigerator stopped generating cold air after 5 years. Several trips by different technicians couldn't get the linear compressor fixed, gave up and got a new Samsung instead. Not sure how another Korean brand will perform but so far no problems.

    Check out LG Linear compressor online... oh it will work great for 2-3 years but that type of compressor has reliability issues. I learned that the hard way. Repair people are afraid to touch it because it’s hard to fix and won’t warranty work due to most failing again with a year... repair man asked me to check it out online if I didn’t believe what he was telling me. Paid almost 4K for mine and it’s beautiful but it barely made it to its 3rd year.

    Looks Great - But!!!

    Bought this refrigerator approximately 4 years ago. Now the compressor has stopped working. Refrigerator and freezer no longer working. Unit looks great, but has problems with manufacturer parts quality control. LG is very difficult to work with. If you purchase an LG appliance, I recommend you also purchase the 5 yr geek squad protection. As They can get a repair company to you and LG cannot. Especially if you live in a small town or rural are.

    Ice Maker and Water Dispenser Design Flaws

    I purchased this refrigerator only 2 years ago and the ice maker never worked properly from the onset with slow ice production even when the " ICE PLUS" was activated. We replaced a 12 year old GE refrigerator that worked fine, but my wife thought that the LG glass door feature was too good to pass over. LG's authorized service personnel could not diagnose the issue with the ice maker which cost us two replacement parts that didn't fix the issue. LG's customer service department was useless in their attempts to troubleshoot or to provide adequate support for their products. I later determined with the assistance of an appliance parts store owner that the control board on this model (EBR78643434) has been replaced by a newer design (84433505) where LG knows about this issue disabling the ice maker, but yet they refuse to stand behind their poor design. The authorized repair service person that visited our home to repair this issue disclosed that his company was dropping LG products from their qualified repair list of products because LG refuses to train them and it is difficult procuring parts and technical support from them. This is your chance to read this review thoroughly and buy any other refrigerator except LG.

    I would not buy LG or this refrigerator. I purchased this refrigerator 2.5 years ago. It stopped cooling and is under warranty. LG scheduled service 30 days out, I waited, they came, they “fixed it” and it broke 12 hours later again. I called back and they said I’d have to wait another 30 days

    Don't buy this fridge. We bought ours in 2019 and the compressor went out in 2023. They can't replace the part or find a technician in our area. We've been without a fridge for 10 days now

    Biggest waste of money I have spent. Tech came to my house and was there only 20 minutes and told me yep it is broken and I cannot fix it. Left and never heard from Best Buy again without me contacting them. LG sent a tech and under their warranty replaced the compressor.

    I will NEVER buy another LG product again. If you consider $2,000 plus product should need to be unplugged and defrosted every 2 months normal then go ahead. There is a defect in the processors and a class action lawsuit which is still ongoing. Meanwhile we are stuck with a 9 month old fridge that stops working every every 2 months and needing to move all of our food to another cooler. Don’t do it

    Started having issues within 6 months and I’m still having issues to this day. Purchase the warranty because that is the only thing that saved me. This is the worst fridge I’ve ever owned.
