Broke in 4 months and has been a month to get fix
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought in Sep, failed in Jan. LG Fridge had a RF error “refrigerator fan” error a month ago. Called LG to schedule an appointment with A&E appointment. Tech shows up at appointment and says the fan and motherboard need to be replaced and orders the parts and leaves. Parts show up to the house a week later, however, tech is a no call no show and I have to reschedule. Reschedule and tech comes out and replaces board and fan, tech leaves. New error code “CO” which means communication error. Call LG and says they need to schedule another tech visit. A&E shows up and says we need to order a new door. Door shows up a week later and tech is a no call no show again. Now waiting another 4 days for rescheduled tech visit. This has been over a month. Strongly HATE A&E. I am putting this review on Best Buy (where I bought the fridge), LG’s page, and A&E’s page.

Fan motor broke, all food spoiled on Thanksgiving!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy an LG fridge if you want a reliable appliance. The compressor fan motor on our relatively new LG fridge broke less than two years after we purchased the new fridge (a "CF error") and right before Thanksgiving. This broken fan motor is supposed to disperse heat from the cooling motor (compressor) on the back of the fridge. Once this fan stopped working, the fridge and freezer stopped cooling our food. Unfortunately, this happened the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, when we were supposed to host dinner. I contacted LG support the next day (Wednesday) and they told me they wouldn't be able to send out a technician for 8 days! I understand there were likely scheduling delays due to the holiday, but this was a huge convenience to be without a way to refrigerate our food for over a week! With the food rapidly warming in our LG fridge, and the threat of bacteria growing on our food by the minute, we had to throw away hundreds of dollars of newly purchased food that we had just stocked for our Thanksgiving dinner. We were lucky that none of our guests got food poisoning from eating bacteria-laden meat and cheese from our unreliable LG refrigerator. To add insult to injury, the LG support told me this CF error code is only covered by their one-year warranty, so technically, this repair should not have been covered. Fortunately, LG decided to cover this "as a courtesy" for me, but it's unbelievable that their fridges can't last more than 2 years without breaking. On top of that, the technician who finally fixed the fan motor said that LG knows the original fan motors are underpowered or aren't as durable. He said LG has now been providing repair technicians with more durable/powerful fan motors because this is a frequent problem. This sounds to me like LG is aware that they made fridges with shoddy parts and now its customers are the ones who have to pay for it with spoiled food and risk of food poisoning. Finally, one of the LG support reps I had originally spoken to for scheduling my repair said I should contact LG support again after my repair and request a form for food loss compensation. When I did this following the repair, the new rep told me: "I did check the account and upon checking your account is not eligible for food loss compensation." How can they not compensate for food loss in this situation? The LG rep said he would escalate my concerns about the lack of food spoilage compensation to "upper management" but it's been several days now and I've heard nothing from them. At this point, I'm not expecting much, which is why I'm writing this review as a warning to others who may be considering LG for their kitchen appliances. In summary, LG sold me a fridge that lasted less than 2 years before breaking, they couldn't send a repair technician for 8 days, all my food spoiled the week of Thanksgiving, and LG didn't have the courtesy to compensate me for the hundreds of dollars worth of food spoilage. I will never buy another LG kitchen appliance after this experience. My old GE fridge lasted for 10 years without this kind of issue. I've attached some photos of the error code on the display, as well as all the food we had to throw in the garbage due to LG's unreliable LRFXC2416S refrigerator.

Craft Ice Makers have known issues avoid.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Craft ice maker failed at about 7 months, still no response from LG on warranty. (its been about 6 months) Door ice maker failed at 17 months. I know someone else who has the same refrigerator and also had the craft ice maker fail in the first few months, they were told there were know issues with the craft ice maker. I will never buy another LG product. Previously had a kitchen aid refrigerator, we got 15 years out of that one before compressor started making a lot of noise.

$4000 piece of garbage
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU PURCHASE. This is a very flawed refrigerator, and I have suspicion that LG engineered it to fail. There is a very common error code that appears on LG fridges called "FFE" which is the freezer fan. This element is only covered under warranty for 1 year, and it will happen at some point. Search FFE, you will see hundreds of posts about it as it is a very common defect. The reason I'm leaving a 1 star is because of LG's unwillingness to help. They charge $400+tax to send a technician to fix it, but they didn't have a tech available in the area. So their solution was to send me a link to their public website to search my area for licensed service technicians and call them on my own accord. I have about $20k worth of LG appliances in my house and I'm disgusted with this treatment. I will never trust LG or purchase LG appliances again.

Water filtration sucks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a water analysis using a tds meter to measure water purity of this fridge. The result was the water coming out of the fridge was about equal to tap water. The filter is not very effective. It was a 155 on the meter out of the fridge same as tap. My reverse osmosis filter gets it down to a 15. My advice to LG is to make more effective filtration systems in your refrigerators. The images are of water calcification as the ice melts. If the filter was better it could reduce this issue and give cleaner water.

Kitchen Appliances from LG are horrible
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LG Sucks! Plain and simple as far as their kitchen appliances and customer (lack there of) service goes. Just outfitted my kitchen with a complete set of LG appliances and both this fridge/freezer and my oven/range are complete failures! What's worse, LG could care less and they get around to giving you a call back (IF EVER) when they choose to. My fridge lasted barely a year until I come home to hearing a horrible noise which turned out to be the fan/compressor failing and all my food in my freezer portion thawing due to failure! The first oven delivered to me said it was at 350 and after I used a reputable probe, found out it was really over 400! The computer board failed and sparked! HORRIBLE products. NEVER AGAIN!

Never buy LG
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The worst refrigerator I bought. The Icemaker on the door broke 3 times in less than two years. They replaced it the first time for free because it was just 6 months since I bought it. It broke again and had to restart and reset the unit (it had a firmware update?). It broke the third time, last month. I had a LG suggested authorized service technician check the unit and told me that it was a known issue with the LG refrigerator. It is not the icemaker but the wiring to the icemaker but it cannot be repaired. LG knows about it and the only solution is to replace the door. Evern after replacing the door, it is possible to go bad again because the wires inside the sealed door is too tight and can break again! LG customer service is very bad, they treated like garbage.

DO NOT BUY!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worst purchase we have ever made. The design of the freezer is horrible. When you look at it it would seem like it would work beautifully HOWEVER it doesn’t! It comes off the track almost every time you open it. The plastic piece around it has broken from trying to pull it out. We have tried everything to try to get this to work. It takes so much time to try to fix it. We have given up and took the top part off, even though it is the biggest part, it will not work without the bottom part. It is ridiculous. So disappointing since we paid over $3000. Would NEVER buy an LG refrigerator again!!!!!!!!!!

Beware
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quality control on these refrigerators is disappointing and especially for the price. The original unit received had a visible dent in the right door and the doors did not close nor aline properly. Because of the misalignment the refrigerator did not seal properly. Best Buy returned it and brought another one. That one also had doors that although sealing were then also visibly misaligned, and the silver on the shelves' trim (essentially every one except for one ) was visibly worn or missed in a number of spots. Returned that one as well. After 2 units we gave up. Sad, because this is one of the few refrigerators that fit in our space, and we were excited about it, both because we had owned an LG before, and being consumer report reviewers, also liked the rating that it got there. But unfortunately, we had no confidence in the rest of the quality given that simple cosmetic defects that were quite visible simply seemed to be ignored. Hope you have better luck if you purchase.

Buyer Beaware
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Enjoyed the Refrigerator for the first year. Then in the second year, the fan motor went out. Contacted LG and was told it was covered under warranty and they would come out to check and fix. Had to pay their service copy for the first trip, but everything else was supposed to be covered. After they determined the issue they went o LG to order the fan motor and was then told by LG it is not covered under warranty and would be $700 to fix. Very frustrated with LG as it seems their products are very poorly made and only get about 2 years out of them now. I for one will not be buying any more of their products.

Absolute garbage
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute trash. After 1 year of owning this piece of **** and just slipping past the manufacturers warranty, my ice maker stopped working. I defrosted the refrigerator for 8 hours, then turned it back on and i am still getting th F1 E error code. So that most likely means that the fan motor is bad. I had a GE for 11 years and never had a single problem. I will never purchase another LG product. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!!

Horrible Product. DO NOT BUY
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT BUY. The Craft ice maker died in less than 4 months. I purchased this refrigerator to replace a Samsung unit that had ice build-up and a faulty ice maker. LG has said they will replace the ice maker for me for free. Best Buy completely washes their hands of all issues once the 14-day break-in period is over so they were zero help in this matter. I will never buy another appliance from Best Buy.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Arrived with dents in the door, had to wait an extra 2 months for a replacement - but that’s not necessarily in LG, but worth mentioning related to the delivery. 13 months after purchasing the ice maker stopped working. Reached out to LG but they’ve been radio silent. For the price I’d expect much better. Even when working, the ice maker is quite slow and low capacity compared to our old fridge (KitchenAid, also an in door I’ve maker).

Water tastes terrible!!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a beautiful fridge but no matter what we do the water and ice cubes taste like chemicals. We ran the filter for more than three gallons and it still tastes terrible to the point where we had to buy bottled water and bring out our old Brita. We had the geek squad come out and determined it is not the filter. We are miserable and will need to return it, probably.

Fan is Noisy - if you want quiet, don't purchase
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very annoyed.....$3500 annoyed. The fan noise on our unit is loud - period. I can hear it over my laptop fan, two rooms away. I can hear it from upstairs. The fan noise is 24x7. We just purchased the unit and we were told the unit might be noisy for a day. It's been three. I purchased this unit because we were told it was quiet. It's far from quiet. The compressor noise is very low.
