    Vibrates Excessively, Smelly Ice

I've owned this fridge coming up on 6 years. I loved it at first because it fit the narrow opening in my kitchen. Has a lot of space. That being said, it developed a very loud vibration noise not long after owning it. I tried everything I could find online. Leveled it, tightened the door hinges, etc. The fridge vibrates excessively. I could press gently anywhere on the fridge and the vibration noise would stop. Removing all items from the door shelves would also help but that defeats the purpose of having door shelves. We can easily hear the fridge from our living room while watching TV with the surround sound up nice and loud. Another issue we've had is with the ice maker. Our ice smells and tastes like garlic. We don't keep garlic in the fridge so not sure why this happened. We have an R/O line going into our fridge as well as the water filter. I've tried both just our well water and the RO water. Same results. Ended up just turning the ice maker off and use the RO faucet installed by our sink. Came here today looking for a replacement. Figured we got enough value out of it in 6 years. Not looking forward to replacing it with something that might have the same issue. Good luck me...

We ended up with this refrigerator because of its size. In the meantime we have fallen in love with it and have recommended it to many friends. The doors open much easier than other brands. We love the in door water and the ice maker is small so there is still shelves on the left inside.

    Major Issue Within 2 Years

We purchased this refrigerator just a little over 2 years ago, and had it fail yesterday (no cooling in refrigerator or freezer). A third-party technician came out and diagnosed it as a compressor/sealed system failure, which is expensive enough to make it not worth repairing. He mentioned that this is a known issue with LGs. I called LG, and they are going to cover parts and labor for this issue, assuming their contracted technician diagnoses it the same. Great to know that it's covered, but also a pain to deal with when the appliance is only 2 years old. I'm hoping it doesn't just happen again. I don't typically write reviews, but figured this might be helpful for someone else, considering it is a known issue with the product. Besides this issue, we've been happy with it.

We bought this refrigerator to update our kitchen less than two years ago and actually Best Buy was great to work with. The guys delivered on time and did a nice job. We got the refrigerator, a new stove and microwave all at the same time. The refrigerator was the only thing that was LG and we didn't get an extended warranty on it because, hey our old one never had a problem and was 15 yrs old. Just over a year the ice maker started having issues. Getting stuck, off track, that kind of thing. This summer it worked about 30% of the time and we would have to go in and realign it. About a month ago stuff in the freezer started melting. After about four days the top was clocking in at around 40 degrees and everything in the freezer melted. We called CS and did some trouble shooting (unplugging it for 2 min. and pulling the drawers all the way out in case the system thought the doors were open). Didn't work and we called a tech. and was told the compressor was bad. We went 21 days between first noticing an increase in temps to the tech getting the part in and fixing it. Good thing we kept the old Frigidaire in the basement! The compressor was under a 10 year warranty but the over all warranty was only a year and we are at one year and seven months. We had to pay $700 out of pocket for the labor and diagnosis and that doesn't include the food lost and annoyance of running up and down stairs for over two weeks for food! LG will not reimburse our labor cost and the tech told us it was the fourth one of the Linear Compressors on an LG he had replaced this week! He said they are always somewhere between 2-5 years old and that LG has a major problem with that compressor but they deny it when you tell them. DO NOT buy this refrigerator, get something else from Best Buy. Look online for LG Linear Compressor and you will see complaint after complaint over the same issue, the compressor goes bad after a couple of years.

After just two years - suddenly quit cooling entirely! We've owned this refrigerator almost two years to date and we've been very happy with the design, the quality of the shelving, the drawer space, etc. All the elements of ease of use and storage within the unit, however 6 days ago we woke to find the unit had quit cooling entirely during the night and we had lost all the food in the refrigerator and freezer! The door panel still said both were working fine. Calling LG customer service yielded nothing but a promise to send out a tech in 5 days! We called a local, LG Certified, repair company who came the same day and told us the compressor, the condenser and all the associated parts were bad. Our refrigerator was basically now a lit storage cabinet. To repair it would run $900.00! However hey told us this is A KNOWN ISSUE with LG and exactly how to handle it! LG apparently was aware of the problem and was quietly covering all parts and labor for repairs; but the unit had to be less than 5 years old (with original receipt) and you had to convince them to issue an APN#. When I asked LG refused to cover the $90 cost of having the local company come out saying I should have waited the 5 days for their tech. The unit is being repaired by LG, with parts and labor covered but it's cost us a $90 service call, $300 in spoiled food, days off work, living out of coolers for a week, and countless other hassles. Since this was a known issue LG should have contacted us and replaced the bad parts BEFORE it became a problem instead of waiting for them to fail and making us fight for a fix. Best Buy was very good to deal with when we purchased the unit, however I'm very disappointed that they sold us a poor quality appliance. Sure it looks good but what good is that if it doesn't keep anything cool or frozen?

Purchased refrigerator May 2015. Sept. 6, 2015 it stopped cooling. Butter started melting. I called LG for service the LG repair person stated it needs a new "duct assembly" and "main board." But, the parts are on back order and will not arrive until Sept. 22nd. This should not happen with a brand new refrigerator. Customer Service at LG is non-existent. They apologized but stated they cannot do anything until the parts arrive. I did not purchase the product from Best Buy. Very disappointed in LG, I researched refrigerators for two months before making the purchase. Now I'm stuck waiting for repairs. I unfortunately purchased a lemon. I did not buy the product from Best Buy. But I did buy the dorm size refrigerator from Best Buy that my family of four is now using while we wait for repairs.

This fridge does it all....perfect size ice cubes, crushed ice , adjustable shelves, air filter, water filter, water and ice in the door. Perfect size for our smaller kitchen as we are remodeling our kitchen. Lighting is outstanding and the door alarm is a nice added feature. Overall very pleased with our purchase. Delivery is a different story but this is strictly a review about the refrigerator.

WARNING ⚠️- My new refrigerator has been broken for 4 weeks &after several attempts to fix the compressor and front panel (which are all under warranty), but now that it’s not fixable per the several technicians we have had here to fix it, LG is giving me the run around. Customer Service manager says he escalated my case (because 4 weeks without a refrigerator Means many many hours on the phone contacting anyone I could at LG to help me) tells me to wait another 24 hours so the engineers can review it. Now I’m told some manager reviewed my case and the notes say it’s now not under warranty and doesn’t look like there’s anything they can do for me . Feeling helpless I started researching and found several consumers telling my same story over and over. This has turned into a nightmare and they are getting away with it. I will not stop fighting for them to make this right , but I don’t want anyone else to have to endure what I’m learning to be a common thing with LG refrigerators and how it’s being handled. PLEASE DO NOT BUY LG!!!!!!!!!

LG has issues/Best Buy doesn't care

Before purchasing my new $2000 refrigerator I spent countless hours going over reviews, features, and price. My wife and I spent time looking at and picking what we thought was a good product. After recieving our frig. We slowly started to notice issues; first the water is never cold ( Customer service at LG said " it should be cold but not cold" and then after asking to speak to a supervisor I was disconnected)' 2nd where the water is suppose to come out on the outside of the door would not work properly, when it is depressed water would dribble all over the place, 3rd the owners manual it states that you should get 7oz of water in 4 seconds, I would get barely half. So I spoke with Best Buy and they wanted to offer me a replacement, which we accepted ( thankfully I purchased an extra 3 yr warrantee plan, obviously $2000 isn't enough to get a product that works as expected), at this point it then took three different call within three week to finally get the replacement due to Best Buy inadequacy, we finally get the replacement and refused it because you could see how the water line came out of the door was just as bad as the first one. Then I started the whole process over, going into the store in Summerville, SC, spoke to the manager Calvin Smith who's first comment was "is it a Best Buy issue or a product issue" good opening line for a manager basically " hey Best Buy is not held responsible for the products they choose to sell" After hours of more research, going to stores, I can find a few frigs that are similar to what I choose the first time, but of course they're more money, I offered to basically split the difference ( because $2000 isn't enough to purchase a product that works), but neither corporate or the store manager would budge. So here I am wasting more time writing this review and now going elsewhere to purchase a refrigerator, and best Buy will be picking the one I have up for a full refund, it's amazing how much time and money Best Buy will spend on pickups and return, so they can save the $200 it would have cost to make me happy, and of course I'll be closing my Best Buy account, plenty of other places that want my business.

I shopped Refrigerates to DEATH! Mainly because of the limited space we had. When they came and installed it, we were so excited to start packing it and using it. And it has that wow factor in so many areas. The ice machine works! And that is a big issue in many of these three door units. This one cranks out the ice. It is expensive, but we got what we paid for. A superior unit!

When we purchased our current home, the opening for the Fridge was smaller so we can go purchased a new one, this was in February 2016. We picked the LFXS24623S because of the features, its a expensive fridge but with a 10 year compressor warranty, we figured it was a great investment. Lets move ahead to now, its 3 years old and the compressor is out. We are not able to find someone to work on them, nobody in our area will touch it. Talking on the phone with LG, they said its my compressor, which they would cover, what they don't tell you that no repair person wants to touch working on the LG fridge because of parts problems, The compressor is parts only, so you are out $300 dollars to get it replaced. They will send a replacement compressor, which might or might not work. The repair people I talked too said that the LG fridges are made to last 3-5 years. Seeing my current experience I would not recommend any LG fridge to anybody. You will be wasting a large sum of money. When you look on LG website for an authorized repair, the one listed for my area states they no longer work on LG systems. I have called 8 repair people around town and nobody wants to touch this. I just want to warn other people from making the choice of buying an LG fridge and then having to go in 3-5 years and purchase another fridge that will actually last as long as a fridge should. LG does not care about getting it fixed or replacing it.

I was limited in width; last fridge was a 33" side-by-side and this fit the space perfectly. I am impressed with how much more room this fridge has, how quiet it is and how easy it is to store things. My only gripe is about the ice maker -- it can only put out 2.5 lbs per day (not much) and the reservoir for ice is very small. You'd need separate bags if you were throwing a party, but I have found it adequate for my needs on a day-to-day basis. Overall, I am pleased with this refrigerator - not only because it was one of the only top/bottom fridges that would fit, but because it has all of the features I wanted.

Love the freezer below, and slide outs as well as the water/ice in doorway. Feed my dog raw so need space for my frozen food and hers; this refrigerator fits. Have had a bottom freezer since the 1970's. Would not want a top freezer ever again

I researched all and finally found the right one with correct dimensions, had a narrow pocket for a refrigerator and looked high and low for a good refrigerator. This one was a perfect fit and your really not giving up much space. The only complaint we have is that the ice maker does not always make enough ice to keep the supply at a good quantity for a mealtime usage.

Not the best refrigerator company. The compressor went out within the first 5 years. The ice dispenser started to stick and run about a year and a half in. Wifi stopped connecting. Not too happy with LG support either. The water filter doesn't work that well either.

The refrigerator is amazing, it looks great and has wonderful features. The freezer is very spacious. I have an old home that was built in 1939 so the doorways are very small, my kitchen is a nice size but the space for the fridge will only allow 33 inches so this one was perfect. I wish it was a bit taller but that's no complaint since I was limited on the models I had to choose from. The interior of the fridge is a limited with the set up, I may have to remove one of the shelves all together, that's why I wish it was taller to give me more space but overall it is great.

I have purchased all of my appliances, which are LG, from Best Buy. The refrigerator ice maker took a turn for the worse. I purchased the fidge 1 1/2 years ago. It does not make ice, it makes God awful sounds and no water is being delivered to the tray. I called LG yesterday and the guy was very helpful with the diagnosis. " you need a new ice maker, since the warranty expired 6 months ago you will have to pay to replace". I thanked him and hung up. I just viewed numerous videos on YouTube. OMG!! There are a lot of people with the same problem. After spending $2K on this anchor, I would think there would be some type of goodwill gesture on the part LG to fix a known problem. I will not purchase another LG washer, drier, dishwasher, stove, microwave or fridge.

Two very expensive refrigerators in less than 12 years! Unbelievable And most repair companies will not work on them! Beware of LG

    Problematic Refrigerator and Service

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We purchased this LG French Door refrigerator in April. The first day we had it the ice maker or water dispenser inside the left door started leaking water. It was not a large amount of water, but we had to wipe up water off of the freezer door and floor daily, and for $2K not what we expected. We purchased the 5 year protection plan (I highly recommend this when purchasing an applicance) so I called Best Buy for service. I was told there was no Best Buy refrigeration techs for LG applicances our area. I was surprised... this is a city of more than 100K residents. I was told they would contact a third party for service. Five days after the refrigerator was installed I was contacted by Open Claims Management... they told me the unit was covered by LG warranty and I should contact LG directly. I said no since that is not what I was paying for with the protection plan. They said it probably would be in my best interest then to invoke the 15 day return clause of my protection plan. So, we returned the LG refrigerator. Because of the water leakage right out of the box, and because service seems to be unavailable for the LG, we cannot recommend this LG refrigerator. I give Best Buy a pat on the back for making the return of the LG a painless process... we basically exchanged it for a Samsung refrigerator... so far, so good.
