Customers are saying

Customers regard the 24.2 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator's spaciousness, storage space, and adjustable shelves positively. They appreciate the French door design and the overall size of the refrigerator. However, customers have concerns about the water dispenser's convenience, noise level, compressor reliability, difficulty in keeping the stainless steel clean, and the lack of fingerprint resistance.

Fridge, good. Bestbuy Warranty, Caveat emptor

Looks nice, the fridge and freezer have held up pretty well now for 3 years though I doubt it will last for 10 looking at others' reviews and talking to repair guys. The icemaker is a problem. The Bestbuy extended warranty is a dumpster fire. We've been without an icemaker for 75 days, two major holidays with no end in sight while we get jerked around by Geek Squad contractors.

    Do not buy LG

I bought this refrigerator 5 and 6 months years ago, last Saturday suddenly stop cooling so on Monday I had to call LG customer service bc the 5 yrs insurance i bought at best buy was expired for few months, we found out the issue was the compressor which had a factory warranty for 10 yrs. I was happy to hear that but what I found out was that I had to pay for the labor which they didn't provide, I had to call a bunch of 3rd parties companies that are authorized by LG to fix my fridge just to find out that the cheaper labor to install that part was $700.00. Called back to LG and was told that was all they could do. Please do yourself a facor and do not buy anything from LG.

Bought in 2015, 3 major repairs already.

We bought this LG refrigerator in 2015. 1 year later, pc board malfunction and whole refrigerator not cooling. Call the customer service, out of the warranty. Paid to replace the pc board. The whole repair process took 1 week. Another year later. Evaporator and motor both malfunction and need to replace. Call the customer service, out of the warranty. Paid to replace both. It was about $700. The whole repair process took 1.5 weeks. Another 2 years later. Compressor malfunction. Call the customer service, out of the warranty. I am super frustrated at this point. LG will not replace this unit. It is now 2 weeks later. We still don't have it repaired. They changed the compressor and still not working. Now, the tech said, the pc board needs to be replaced again!

Bad Linear Compressor after 2 1/2 years

Although I love the space and design of the refrigerator, no parts should break after 2.5 years of use. I can't believe Best Buy still sells this refrigerator after it is well reported of linear compressor failure (after looking at online reviews)since 2017. Also, I'm incredibly unhappy with the ONLY extended warranty company they offered at that time called Warrantech. They are horrible and take 30+ minutes to answer their phones and customer service contracted with a lousy repair company who after 2 visits determined that LG had to do the work but Warrantech had to do the scheduling. 2 weeks later, no fridge and lost hundreds of dollars in food. Disappointed in Best Buy for no help with all the problems. Will never purchase from them again. Hopefully their Geek Squad warranty service is better but doubt it.

    Great Except One Thing

This is a great refrigerator except for one annoying thing...The water and ice dispenser buttons are CONVEX. You're pushing a round glass against a rounded button, so the glass slips and you spill water everywhere. Not a dealbreaker, but something to consider before purchasing.

Never buying LG products again. Had refrigerator less than 4 years and it stopped cooling. Called LG and was told that the warranty had been extended due to issues with this model year. Went round and round with LG several hours over the phone for a period of 3 weeks. Long story short, never repaired due to LG not being able to find anyone in my are willing to repair it. Had to buy a new refrigerator.

    Fingerprint magnet

Every Time you touch anywhere on the fridge, you leave fingerprints. I've tried everything I can think of, from elbow grease to Windex, and it always looks streaky and the fingerprints are very difficult to remove. When you consider the fact that their are no small children or teens, in our household, just my husband and myself, it's not hard to imagine how horrible it would be to keep clean in a home with children. I regret ever purchasing this refrigerator. I would never recommend an LG appliance to anyone. I have all stainless steel appliances, and this LG is the only item that I have this problem with.

Hate the French-door style; want my old side by si

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Hate it; shelves impossible to move; no holes for shelves in rear of refrigerator to allow changing the position. Impossible to even remove the shelves to clean without bending the brackets or breaking the glass. Want my old side by side back so I can fit more than 2 lousy gallon bottles, tall STANDARD bottles or wine bottles STANDING UP. Instead have to lay half gallon milk bottles, 2 liter soda bottles and wine on their sides on the main 6 inch opening shelves. This leads to possible leakage onto the shelves. I wanted another side by side but husband thought “the French-style (LG) looks cool”. Who cleans it every time? Most assuredly NOT HIM. What a fiasco for 3 grand.

don’t buy LG unless you plan to replace quickly

Fridge has a lot of issues. The glass on the largest lower shelf shattered for no reason, normal use, about a year after purchase. The ice maker started to work intermittently about 2 yrs after purchase. The freezer began to pool water in the bottom of the freezer and freeze to a solid block of ice and now 5 yrs later the freezer and ice maker stopped working. Also, the seal for the freezer deteriorated. It’s only myself and a teenager, not an excessively used fridge. I had to buy a new fridge.

The compressor died under warranty however labor was over $600. Not acceptable for what we paid for this refrigerator. Very disappointed and would not recommend LG.

Compressor broke twice in 4 years!!

Stay far away from this fridge! While it was nice for a short time, the compressor failed in less than 2 years. Come to find out that LG fridges with linear compressor “have a track record” of failing. After nearly a month trying to get it repaired, the technician said, “it should be good. Haven’t seen one fail twice.” Well, 18 months later, it failed again. Junk!

    Poor quality materials and design

I purchased a LG LFX28978ST refrigerator in thanksgiving 2010. Brand new, the refrigerator looked very nice. After two years, the ice maker began to stop working. I contacted LG and they told me how to reset it. It worked several times until didn't worked anymore. Then, several of the door bins broke. Later on, the door gaskets broke and began to condensate on the doors. Finally, stopped working. Brought a service tech and found major leaks in the evaporator as well as in the condensator. They showed me how porours it was the material. Still trying to save the $2,250 USD I paid for it. I'm preparing my self mentally to buy a new refrigerator after just 7-8 years when they should last at least 15 years. I'll never purchase a LG product in my life.

    Horrible product

I bought this product 2 years ago along with its matching stove. The ice maker stopped working. I’m on the 4th visit with the repair man and it still doesn’t work. He is a LG repairman!!! He was nervous because he said the ice maker wasn’t getting cool enough which means he may have to replace the fan. If that is the case he will have to dismantle the back of the refrigerator which will make a huge mess!! This refrigerator is only 2 years old! I wish I never bought LG!! Never again!!! My stove is not working either! When I turn it on a huge flame is thrown out from the back melting the metal and coating which sends toxic fumes in the air!!!:( :( The Because your products do not withstand the test of time and use!!! Horrible horrible and headache causing when the fumes come out of the stove!! All the toxins thrown in the air are awful!! I had to evacuate my kids, the dog and go to my sisters house!!!

Compressor went out after 5 years now have to pay a third of the cost of the refrigerator for labor to get it replaced. Don’t buy LG if you want your refrigerator to last.

It's a beautiful refrigerator, but it broke 18 months after we purchased it. First made an awful noise then stopped cooling. Woke up to lots of spoiled food.
