Hate the top and bottom baskets. There are not enough prongs to hold up my glass such as wine glasses, and I have to lower the top baskets in order to wash glasses. IF I have lowered the top basket, the I can't wash my plates ... not enough room and the water spinner hits the plates.

Hi, Sanna. Thank you for sharing your feedback about the LG Dishwasher (LDFN4542S) model. We understand your concern about the basket design and the difficulty it’s causing in accommodating both your wine glasses and plates. We strive to provide reliable, high-quality products that exceed our customer's needs and expectations.

Regarding the top and bottom baskets, we’d recommend checking if they are properly adjusted to ensure optimal space for different items. I bought this to replace my dishwasher that worked but sucked. This one sucks too. The bottom rack will NOT stay on the track. It’s way louder than there one I had before and even though there’s way to lock the buttons, if you lean against it working at the counter your body hits buttons potentially turning it off.

If I could give this 0 stars I would! This machine has been nothing but a headache since the day we got it! It has a fault code & alarm every other load saying the reservoir underneath is full of water, and this was a known problem! Just wish I’d known before wasting my money! In addition to having to pull it out of the wall to fix it every time just to get it to work… the dry setting is a joke! This dishwasher doesn’t dry anything! The only way you’ll have dry dishes from this machine is to let them air dry with the door open or dry them yourself with a towel. Save your money! Do Not buy this dishwasher!

We strive to provide reliable, high-quality products and ensure a smooth and seamless experience. For the electrical shutdown issue, we recommend starting with a few troubleshooting steps: Ensure that the dishwasher is properly plugged in and that the circuit breaker hasn’t tripped. Hello there, JennyM. We understand your inquiry about the LG 24″ Front-Control Built-In Dishwasher with QuadWash and 3rd Rack (model LDFN4542S) and appreciate you sharing your experience. It sounds like the noise level and plate stability in the rack are keeping your dishwasher from doing its best, and we’re here to help.

One helpful troubleshooting step is to first ensure that dishes and silverware are properly secured in the racks. Pause a cycle and check that no plates or utensils are protruding past the tines, as this can allow items to shift and rattle against the spray arms. You may also gently remove the bottom filter assembly—located at the base of the tub—rinse it under warm water to clear any debris, and reinsert it firmly; a clogged or loose filter can amplify rattling noises during operation.

If you’re still hearing excessive noise, try adjusting the water inlet valve to reduce water pressure slightly; sometimes high water flow can create a whistling or rattling sound as it enters the wash chamber. Finally, inspect the 3rd-rack rollers to ensure they’re aligned on the tracks—if any wheel appears misaligned, lift the rack off and realign the rollers before reinserting.

This model works well and has great load flexibility. I'm giving it a low score because I've discovered that an intermittent leak that I assumed was an issue related to connection tightening and then improper loading is actually a separated seam in the stainless steel tub.

Hello there, Cynthiah. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand your situation, and we know how important it is for your dishwasher to provide excellent cleaning and drying results.

To help improve the cleaning performance, here are a few steps you can try:

Ensure Proper Loading: Avoid overlapping dishes and ensure that no dishes are in contact with the nozzles. Adjust the height of the racks to ensure no dishes block the spray arms, and load the cutlery in a standing position for the best performance.

Clean the Filter: Remove the lower basket and clean the filter to ensure it is free of debris. Improper installation can affect the wash performance, so make sure to reinstall the filter properly.

Run a Machine Clean Cycle: You can also perform a Machine Clean cycle by removing any dishes, filling the detergent dispenser with citric acid or a dishwasher cleaner, and running the cycle. This helps clean the interior and improve the overall performance.

For more detailed steps, you can check our Dishwasher Not Cleaning Help Guide.

Terrible didhwasher. We bought this and installed ourselves. My husband is very capable and made sure the whole thing was level. Leaked from the front. We tried getting ahold of Best Buy and LG and would be stuck on the phone for 2+ hours for someone to tell us to call a different number. We had to out source for someone to come look at it, turns out the front vent seal is defective and theres a ton of dings and dents on the inside. After all this, it finally washed without leaking, but doesnt dry a single thing. We have read instructions, tried different settings and our stuff still comes out soaking wet. It could finish a wash at 9pm, have time to dry all night and be soaking wet at 9am. Overall super annoyed in having to spend all this time with a machine.

Your dishwasher does not have a heating element, and therefore drying performance is directly affected by the amount of heat that remains in the tub after the heated rinse is performed. If your dishwasher is far away from your home’s hot water heater, it may be necessary to run the hot water tap in the sink before starting a wash cycle, to ensure that cool water is purged from the hot water lines. This will ensure your dishwasher has a consistent supply of hot water from start to finish.
Using the High Temp setting also aids in keeping the inner drum temperature and dishes hotter before drying begins. LG dishwashers are designed to be used in conjunction with a rinse aid. Using a rinse aid will maximize the amount of water that has already been sheeted away from the dishes before the dry cycle begins. If a rinse aid is used and the performance still needs a boost, adjust the amount of rinse aid used. 2 is the default setting, but if necessary set the level to 3 so more rinse aid is used.
Water tends to bead rather than sheet of plastic and nonstick surfaces, making them more difficult to dry. If washing plastic items in a Normal cycle, select the Extra Dry or Night Dry option or both for better drying results. When the rinse aid is empty, the Extra Dry option is selected automatically.
Allow the dishwasher to completely finish the dry cycle before opening the door. If the door is opened in the middle of the dry cycle, the heat that is necessary for the hybrid dry system to work will escape. This will cause all of the dishes inside to remain wet once the cycle finishes. ^Jennifer LG
