This new one has the same problem! Avoid LG dishwashers if you want to deal with frequent major problems. Their support will ask you to reach out to them at 1-800-243-0000 and they will offer a fair resolution. But in realty, they won't. Why did I buy a 2nd one when the first broke so quickly? When it works, it does a decent job of cleaning. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed the first one was not a common problem, My mistake for having brand loyalty. Does anyone have recommendations on dishwasher brands? I'm leaning towards Samsung or Maytag?

The dishwasher's top control panel has cracked and looks horrible. The prongs that hold dishes are rusting and breaking off, which means they were not coated well. And, the brackets that secure the unit to the counter are cheap, cannot be tightened properly, and allow the unit to move. Oh, there is no heating element so dishes stay wet even with Jet Dry. Beyond the cheap dishwasher, the LG Frig had over 5 service calls the first year and they never replaced the unit. As soon as 12 months were up, they said, sorry! The microwave started falling apart in the second year. It has very brittle plastic parts and the internal screws secured to those parts have all broken loose and broken the plastic. The only thing that still works right and has stood the test is the oven. But it has problems too. For one, the cleaning cycle will not allow you to use cleaner. Just hot water. It does not work and you end up having to scrub it anyway. Poor design. Also, the plastic control panel is cheap and makes turning the stove on difficult. All in all, do not buy anything LG. Even their TV shuts down automatically with no cause.

Bosch is better quality

Do not buy if you have squarish shaped plates

They have squarish-shaped dishes and bowls, and those dishes do not fit well on the bottom rack of this dishwasher. The dishes slip and the corners poke out below the rack, getting in the way of the water and heating implement below the rack. In order to fix this they'd have to replace all of their dishes. So the workaround is to load some of their smaller dishes in the cups section and some of their cups in the bottom rack. Very annoying for them.

There is no drying element so it takes a long time to dry dishes, and we have had an ongoing issue with an LG HE error code (heating element error, the washer cannot heat the water for the cycle) that best buy service has not been helpful at all in resolving (3 times trying to setup a repair appointment, all of them say they will call back and never do) In addition, there is no included top rack accessories for holding wine glasses/chopsticks, and the front panel gets dirty very easily For cleaning it leaves white residue on plastic ware in the top rack on a consistent basis that we have to scrub off in the sink, and the heavy cleaning cycle is the only one that seems somewhat effective - which is a 3.5 hour cycle, at the end of which you need to give another few hours for air drying. Overall the washer seems extremely overpriced for what it is. I would say it has the feature set and reliability of a $300 washer

When told to run it makes noise for several minutes while you walk away, then shuts down and pretends you never told it to run. No error code, no symptoms of a mechanical malfunction, just shuts down. "Do you enjoy telling a child to do their chores over and over again? Have you always wanted to have that same whining and misbehavure from a $700 appliance? Well now you can! The new LG dishwasher pretends it didn't hear you! Tell it to wash the dishes over and over again without results. It makes noise for five minutes while you watch, just long enough for you to get bored and walk away, then it shuts down again for no reason! How many times will you have to tell it today? Three? Eight? Twelve? You just can't wait to find out! No returns or help available after the first 12 hours"

Bad circuit board

The cost to replace it was almost as much as a new dishwasher. This was after we had a major repair on our LG refrigerator after only a few years. I thought LG was a good brand but they seem almost disposable. I won’t buy them again.

Horrible experience

However, the experience when picking it up from Best Buy was anything but pleasant. We picked it up brought it home to find they had given us a used one. There were dead roaches all over it. It was disgusting to put it politely. So we drove back to Pensacola and returned it. Luckily they had not sold ours to anyone else… will never buy another appliance online from them again.
