It was recognized almost immediately after plugging it in. I have not used the DVD writing or CD burning functions of the drive, yet.

I neewed or wanted one for the times I have to install a program or down load pictures from a disc. This one was priced right and will work perfectly for my needs.

LG External Disc Drive
