Not user friendly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this after reading the poor reviews on the DELL DVD/CD external drive which had been my first choice since I just purchased a new DELL laptop that did not have the CD ROM drive. The software download was awful. No instructions how to run a DVD/movie. Kept getting error messages. Had to install free DVD software/player just to play my movies. I mainly bought this to download software for taxes etc. It is the slowest downloading unit I have ever used and is made very cheaply. I was very close to sending it back, but was able to download my tax software which is my number one concern. Movies were just an added hope that I thought I could use with my new pc. I have had previous LG products and they were all well made, but it seems their quality is dropping. I guess you get what you pay for as the saying goes.

One worked, the other didn't.

However, I purchased two - one for my work desktop computer and one for my husband's computer. Mine worked great with no issues, but we couldn't get the other one to work with his desktop computer.

Be carefull - you will need to spend more money

The first time I tried to use it was told I needed to download updates. After several weeks had to download additional updates. then it seemed I needed to update the software every week. After 6 mo was told I needed to buy a 1-year license for an additional $80, to continue using the drive. No where in any of the materials was there any mention of having to buy additional software to use the drive. A rip off.

Didn't even work for 1 second. No way to return.

I see now that I was suppose to have a DVD included that had additional software. I did not. Windows File Explorer will not recognize this drive when properly hooked up. Device Manager shows that the driver is updated and the "device is working correctly." But it also does not show up in Control Panel > Devices. LG Support's only solution was to download 3rd party software (that malwarebytes flags as a warning for extreme malware) to "play videos." No solution offered at all for being able to open the drive and view files, or to write to the DVD. The only other request was to "find another computer to try it in." I don't know about you, but I only have my own computer, so that was also a no-go. Complete waste of money.

Could be better.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned! I loved how small and light it felt, but it seemed very fragile and cheap. It was not plug n play. I had problems connecting to my Windows 10 PC. Not recommended for Linux OS.

Won't Work on Device with USB-C ports
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great on my Windows/Mac with usb ports when I bought it in 2018 BUT will NOT work (even with usb-to-UsbC converter on any computer with USB-C ports. Confirmed this with LG customer service. So the only option is to purchase a new device since LG will not entertain free replacement.
