This is a great DVD drive - fast, sleek, light. The price is unbeatable, but you cannot order it shipped to the store for free - you have to pay the $5 shipping, which kind of hurts, when the item cost less then $25. But overall I am happy - it saved my laptop when the system crashed and even the internal DVD drive could not read the installation CD!

A friend recommended me to this unit by LG. Hooked it up to my computer and it was very easy to connect and it uploaded automatically. Works very well and does quality work. So far I am very happy with it!

Inexpensive and so far works just as its supposed to. I don't use it all the time, but it's really compact and light which makes travel with it easy.

Very easy to use as is. It does its job and makes very little noise. I use it for a laptop to install programs and burn CDs/DVDs. Just plug it in the USB port and it begins to run.

Bought this to use with new laptop that had no CD player. This plays both CD and DVD. True plug and play. Can also be plugged in to a TV with HDMI cable. Slim and easy to store. I would definitely buy this again.

Easy to install and installs any software fast. Just plug in via the USB on your laptop. If you want to watch DVDs install the software accompanied with the drive.

I still burn the occasional CD, so when I bought my new laptop sans CD read/writer I bought this as an external add-on. Readily recognized by the laptop; easy to use. It’s extremely lightweight and thin - makes it easy to carry/store in a laptop case. It is very plasticy - that’s what makes it so lightweight - but that’s also lends to it feeling cheap. It works; that’s the main thing.

The LG cd/dvd player is working perfectly. I am very happy with it’s performance.

This external DVD/CD read/write drive is perfect for a modern computer. Nowadays DVDs/CDs seem to be going away. But this is a good cheap alternative to buying an internal drive for your pc. Best of all it can be easily unplugged and reinstalled in another computer if you have multiple computers. It's not the fastest read/write disc drive out there but it's fast enough. Setup and use is easy. Not really much to say it just works and its inexpensive.

This disk drive is a good item that is easy to install and use.

The drive was exactly what I was looking for to use with my new laptop. I use it to watch DVD's I never quite got around to watching. It is great for use while I am traveling.

This product seems to work just fine. My only concern was that a first accidentally bought an internal drive. The salesperson did not realize that the one I was going to buy was an internal drive and it was not clearly marked, Then I was told I had to physically go to the store where I had purchased it to return it. This was inconvenient as it was, but what if I had been out of town when Ipurchaased it.

Runs like a charm, compact, and an excellent value.

bought writer to install DVDs since my desktop does not have a dvd player I have not written a disc yet but it does great playing

Have had this for a couple months and use daily it several times for saving data and transferring it to other machines. Yes, it can be a bit noisy, but that's probably because the casing is not insulated to absorb sound. I'm not using it to watch DVDs/etc., so the noise does not matter for me. That's the only reason for a 4-star rating, otherwise, a very good product.

Since laptops often come without optical drives this is a good solution to that problem. Even though much media exists online, optical media still exist. This drive is plug and play and works well.

I absolutely love this DVD burner. It’s so easy to use and takes up barely any room at all. I love that I can carry it my laptop bag.
