I gave 4 stars because software that came with it wouldn't work on my HP laptop with Windows 10. I had to find and pay for my own software. Note: my fairly new laptop did not come with a player as previous Windows versions did.

Great DVD Writer for the Money

I tested it by burning a scuba diving instruction video onto DVD-R media and this DVD plays on the DVD player that's connected to my HDTV! So there's no doubt that it works flawlessly!
