    Purchased this refrigerator less than 7 months ago and it will not work at all. In fact before it completely stopped working, there were sparks flying!! LG has the WORST customer service and does not care about its customers. They have sent 2 technicians who cannot repair the unit and they are not wanting to give us a replacement. The representatives do not care that we have 3 small kids including a 6 month old and we are unable to keep any food in the house or store milk and baby needs. They say they will keep sending techs out until it can be repaired. Who wants to buy a fridge that costs this much only for it to be patched- to then break again later. BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT DO IT!!! We had a Samsung previously that worked perfectly and is actually still working well over 8 years later. We only purchased this new one for our brand new house and needed stainless steal as our Samsung was black. I wish we had stayed with Samsung!!

    We should have read the reviews before we bought this. As many others have said, the compressor died after 3 years almost to the day. No warning, no error codes, even the built - in "smart diagnose" says it doesn't detect any errors (so what exactly is the purpose of it?) We just had a Schwann's delivery, and everything in the freezer is ruined, all the melted ice made a mess inside and all over the floor, melted ice cream leaked everywhere... but "no error detected." Customer service is a nightmare... over an hour on the phone, and had to talk to 5 different people, three of whom had such a hard time speaking English that I constantly had to interrupt and ask them to repeat entire phrases and sentences. Two of them hung up mid-call, forcing us to call back and start completely over. Some of them couldn't help until we had the receipt in hand, but after we found it and called back, we were told we didn't need it at all. The earliest they could send someone to look at it was THREE WEEKS, but we were then told it would be one week. After reading through the reviews, it appears it will be another 2-3 weeks after that just to get a replacement compressor. Bottom line: The onboard diagnostics won't catch a compressor failure or a 55 degree temperature in the freezer for 12 hours or more or an ice maker that can't get cold enough to make ice... what exactly is the point of having it then? It appears the compressor is a major problem with these, yet they don't bother to keep any in stock, forcing an additional 2-3 weeks delay. Customer service is very hard to understand, and gives contradictory answers to the same question, depending on who you talk to. 3 weeks bare minimum down time, and they are apparently okay with up to two or more months (3 weeks for the service call, plus 3 weeks for the part, plus however long it takes for a follow up appointment to install the compressor once it shows up - another 3 weeks?) This is a good looking product, but the total failure of it after such a short time, plus the near-total failure of their customer service phone room, plus the failure of the self - diagnostics, and the lack of local support in a timely manner makes this product a very bad purchase.

    I love this LG refrigerator, its so convenient. I love that I don't have to open the whole door. it has a separate compartment door just for exactly what you need. It also will have longer longevity, because it has a separate door. Its so deep and big love it. the shelves are made well. they are made with high quality. the functions are great and easy to use. the ice and water are excellent. Its very comfortable and big I recommend it to anyone who needs a high quality refrigerator.

    i loved my fridge for the past 3 years. its beautiful black stainless and room for plenty of food to feed a family of five. but after 3 years, almost to the date of purchase the compressor went bad. good thing i bought the extended warranty. this was a pretty new released fridge at the time of purchase and not any of these reviews mentioned bad compressors. paying 2k for a fridge i would want to have it last at least 10 years with minimal issues. at least we purchased a 5 year extended warranty and crossing our fingers this doesnt happen again.

    Love it, but need some help…

    Love my refrigerator - from day one! Except that when I bought it, I didn’t think about needing a longer hookup for my ice/water maker/dispenser - but hence, I did. Way back then the delivery guy said he would put in an order for a longer kit and would come back out to hook up. I then have had to deal with illnesses and hadn’t followed up. But now I really want it hooked up! That’s the only thing I lack with this fabulous appliance!

    Bought this model of LG Fridge back in May of 2017. Now Feb of 2021 it's suddenly stopped working. The freezer side has cool air blowing but definitely not enough to freeze or chill anything. The fridge side is warm. I've now got a whole fridge filled of food that's either unusable or will be unusable soon. I'm very disappointed. The fridge that I had previously lasted us for over 20 years, it was a different brand. We purchased this one as we were updating our kitchen and wanted a fridge that would be more efficient in terms of energy usage. We also loved the upgrade from our previous side by side which also had door in door which we used a ton. After reading reviews I'm hesitant to even try to jump through hoops to get it fixed as even though parts might be covered, labor is not. I'm going to attempt to troubleshoot it but have very low expectations. I'm already shopping for another fridge and staying well away from LG. This product isn't meant to last!

    Not as great as I’d hoped

    Love the crisper drawers and outer part of refrigerator door, but we had a door shelf crack and break within the first year. Then later, a freezer shelf started collapsing and coming off the supports whenever we put anything on it.

    I have had this refrigerator for 5 months and I couldn't be happier. I replaced an aging unit with this LG. The fridge is quiet and spacious and has adequate freezer space. The "Open Door" alarm is a plus. The bright LED lighting is also a plus. Absolutely love the door in door feature. Very satisfied with my purchase.

    LG Service is Terrible

    The installation crew was on time and very friendly. They were quick and did a great job. The problem was that after running 3 gallons of water thru the dispenser on the door, it kept leaking. We called LG and after spending 30 minutes on the phone with a person who was less than helpful, she said that a tech would be there that day between 1-5 PM. They showed up a week later at 8 AM! We called Best Buy around 5:30 PM and told them that LG Service had not showed. After hearing the problem, they were going to send out a NEW refrigerator!. We kept using the water and by the next morning the drip had stopped. We canceled the new unit and everything seems to be working good for the last week. DO NOT buy LG Products. They have no service. DO BUY from Best Buy. They support what they sell.

    I waited soneyine yo review this product because I wanted to be absolutely sure I give it honest and correct reviews. I think this has been an awesome investment. The fridge is spacious and runs great.tge only thing i dobt like is tge ice/water buttons esp the water one.

    I've had the unit 15 months. Loved the first 15 months. Great size, lots of space, etc. Now, the idea maker went out. Had Geek Squad here, replaced ice maker. No ice. Came again, replaced main board, no ice. This unit is apparently defective and getting Geek Squad out, or to assist is ridiculous. This is ongoing for over a month now. Meanwhile, I am inconvenienced without ice and taking time off from work to allow service workers. I am an elite member, but couldn't find my # and honestly, not sure I'd purchase another appliance from Best Buy.

    READ ME BEFORE BUYING!! - It was really nice... I always got a laugh when folks would get wet when they tried to use the water dispenser. However, neither side cools any more after 4.5yrs of use. Called around to weigh my options on repair/costs since I can't find my receipt from when I registered the thing and suspect this will be a pricey repair. NO ONE can or wants to work on this because of its sealed/closed system (special skill?). Multiple appliance repairmen were candid and said LG was their worst enemy - has the worst wiring diagrams, has problems with their "linear compressors" (see proposed class action lawsuit) and if they break, you might as well trash it and get a different brand if it's the sealed/closed system. Last LG fridge I buy ever.

    Don’t waste your money!

    We thought we’d made a good investment but here we are 2.5 years later with a broken freezer. It stopped working during a heat wave which sucked. We had a tech come out for $85 to ultimately tell us that the compressor needs to be replaced and there is a Freon leak. I’ve now spoken to multiple repair shops, all of which immediately told me I shouldn’t have bought LG. I called LG and while they told me the replacement parts are covered under warranty, we are still responsible for the service work! I was quoted $650 to get it repaired (parts not included). So now we are stuck shelling out hundreds of dollars to either get this piece of crap “fixed” (god knows how long that’ll last) or to buy a new fridge. Major buyers remorse here…don’t get this fridge!!!!!

    I usually do not write review. However, I wanted share my honest experience with this specific model. I previously owned an LG French style refrigerator and loved it until it passed away at 7 years old. I purchased this model as a replacement with easy access door for convenience. Problem number 1 is the linear compressor. Though efficient, it is not effective at all. It just does not cool fast enough. I have fridge at coolest setting and not much different. Items inside door compartment is almost always 5 degree warmer than fridge compartment. The fridge compartment does not cool that well. Thermal temperature measured under 40 degrees. However, I always see condensation inside my food containers. Food spoils much faster with this fridge. Not good if storing lots of meal preps. Space in door compartment takes away from fridge space. Inside door racks are too low to be useful. Freezer and ice maker are good. I did notice frost on top two shelves.

    Nice Fridge but Questionable Reliability

    Bought this in December 2015. The good, keeps food cold, door in door is nice. The bad, many things! The only place to place milk, pitchers, etc is in the door. This doesn't work well for a pitcher with no lid as the liquid spills (especially when you have teenage boys who slam the door). The first week we had it, we had to call LG to get the water dispenser working. They were able to do some troubleshooting over the phone and get it fixed. We changed the water filter last week and now have no water, no ice. Called LG again for troubleshooting. This time they were no help, transferred me to a department to discuss payment options to repair an unknown problem (based on the supposed 3 things wrong, ice maker, water dispenser, and iffy light), then tried to charge us either $560 for an extended warranty or $350 to repair "three items". We have chosen to try to figure this out ourselves, or if that doesn't work, call a reputable repair person. But, a refrigerator that is only 14 months old shouldn't need a repair! Will never buy one of these again.

    I have had this refrigerator for 15 months. The compressor died at 11 months 25 days. Fixed under warranty. now at 15 months, freezer is not cooling again. I had to fight tooth and nails to get LG to fix this new issue. This time the heater went out. Apparently there's a cycle where a heater kicks in and does a defrost and that's no longer happening. so at 15 months, the compressor went out, the heater went out. Folks that's comparable to a car's engine and transmission going out. Pls, Pls, Do NOT buy LG for appliances. They are great for electronics (TVs, phones), but very poor for appliances.
