    Worst fridge ever

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is one of the worst fridge ever purchased. From the moment we purchased it until now we’ve been having issues with it. I have had 6 total repair calls, 2 compressors changed, a condenser recently changed and it still went out two weeks apart from the previous fix. Ive had so much food spoilage and they only compensated me once. I have small children and we lost so much especially with the inflation i cannot believe how often this fridge went out on us. Its looks amazing but its the worst headache on this planet.

    Buyer Beware of LG Refrig

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

LG BUYER BEWARE! Please read if you are considering buying an LG refrigerator. I purchased an LG Refrigerator (LFX28968ST) less then 3 years ago and didn’t get an extended warranty…because – well…I spent over $2,000, it was so highly rated…why would it break down. 3 months ago we saw a puddle of water is at the base of the refrigerator and now frozen water in the freezer. I called LG and they said that “the service dept. is booked, call these 2 companies that have certified LG repairman and they will fix it for you.” I called one and they are no longer in service, the other is booked for 6 months out. I called another appliance repair company and they came out and told me that he’s seen this before with LG – the water line is broken in the door and you need a new door! I called LG and they didn’t hesitate and said you need a new door…and it costs $600! I suck it up, pay for it, wait for the delivery which takes 3 weeks and I call LG to have someone install it and AGAIN they give me the same 2 companies to install – one is out of business and the other is booked for 6 months! I asked for other LG certified repairman on their list that are close to Los Angeles - they give them to me. I then call all of them, and all of them said I HAVE to use the 2 preferred companies that handle Los Angeles! There are ONLY 2 certified LG companies to handle the City of Los Angeles and one is out of business! I called back LG and over a 4-hour call with managers etc, they set up a repairman to come out…in 4 weeks! I take the day off of work to wait and after 3 hours the LG certified repairman that LG set up tells me that he was ordered to come out for an assessment not to install a door! He said that it takes 3 hours and costs $400 and they are booked for the next 3 weeks! He said that they are all booked up because there are so many LG doors that need to be installed because this is such a common problem with the water line breaking! It is now on 3 months that I have a sign over the water dispenser that says “Do Not Use” and a beach towel on the floor at the base to capture the little water that still comes out…and I have a huge door in a box sitting in my house that’s been here forever. Now I have to wait another month – UGH!! NEVER again will I buy LG. There you have it. Thanks for reading – hope you found it helpful and you didn’t fall asleep and you think twice before buying an LG Refrigerator…

Beautiful fridge but no door-in-door feature

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The fridge looks exactly like the pictures and is absolutely beautiful. However, the 5th feature says there is a door-in-door feature, which is ultimately why I picked this fridge from Best Buy instead of other stores. Turns out that Best Buy "cut and paste" the same description for 3 of their models and this model doesn't actually have the feature. Also, I would add that this fridge is a little loud and takes some getting used to. Otherwise, I really love it!

Compressor Failure on 4 year old LG French Door

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Our 4 year old LG French Door Refrigerator stopped cooling and after diagnosis found the compressor was bad. Since compressor is under warranty for 10 years, LG said they would provide the parts but not the labor. They listed about 5 appliance repair places to call in our area to do the work. We called all 5 and only 1 would actually consider doing the work. Their estimate was $700-$1000 for labor since it is a 'closed system' and said there was a good chance the new compressor would go out too within a couple years. One repair place said they have had 10 calls in last 6 weeks with same problem. I bet there are so many people just starting over with a new frig due to cost and wait time for LG compressor repairs. Unfortunately then LG doesn't have to honor the warranty! My Whirlpool from 20 years ago is still purring away in my garage. Going back to Whirlpool!

LG - stick to small electronics.

Bought in 2018. During the first year the ice maker had to be repaired (still under warranty). Now, 4 years later, the linear compressor is failing. LG recently settled a class action law suit for "no cooling" repairs for various models and as part of the settlement, they extended warranty periods to five years for select models...but not this one. This repair is estimated at $1,500-$1,700. We basically paid around $500-$600 year for a fridge that is now useless. The 35 year old GE fridge in our garage is now providing back up for us - not pretty but still kicking. I do not recommend this or any LG large appliances, and we will never buy one again.

JUNK! Delivered with a model of compressor that they have been replacing due to performance issues. Fridge was running almost constantly and temps wouldn't drop. That was within a couple of months of delivery. New compressor louder than the old. Now, 16 months in, an error code about refrigerant leak and service scheduled tomorrow. For the other parts - water filter is lousy. It works, but not well enough. I bought a Brita, instead and don't use water out of the dispenser. Also, ice cubes are way too small (and made with that same water filter). Never again.

DO NOT BUY AN LG FRIDGE

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Our LG was 4 yrs old when the left door went out due to the extensive wiring through the upper hinge fraying. Replacement was expensive and time consuming. It was 6 yrs old this summer when it stopped working. Contacted customer service. Preferred recommendations for repair companies revealed at least one scam. 2 weeks later, another recommended repair company diagnosed of blown compressor, but refused to work on LGs because their compressors are apparently notoriously bad. Still had to pay $129 for the diagnosis. One month later, another repair company came and ordered a compressor, but they also needed a module that did not come with the compressor. Tick, tick, tick. Reorder. Paid $160.80. "Repair" did not work. LG says a 6 yr old fridge is pretty old. Uh no. Your product sucks. Our GE lasted 25 yrs. September, October, two more compressors later, still does not work. mid-October: Spend hours on the phone (again) end up with "Presidential Liaison" Jermaine on the line. He'll take care of everything. New company replaces the compressor again. The fridge works for 6 days. Freezer never works. Umm, what say you PL? 3 weeks later still crickets. November: We bought a new refrigerator, 5 months after starting with LG customer service, and, no, it isn't an LG and, no, LG has not done anything to address this situation. DO NOT DO IT!

    Compressor is LOUD

I really like LG appliances for the most part. I am saddened that Whirlpool and GE have fallen off my radar of reputable brands. I currently own, an LG washer and dryer, and now this refrigerator. Storage is nice, the layout is good. The compressor on the other hand, sounds like a fish tank pump magnified to the level of everyday conversation. To put it in perspective my 15 year old dishwasher is more quiet on cycle than this fridge. I hesitated on having them pick this up but, I should've sucked it up and paid the restocking fee.

We are sorry to see you are unhappy with the noises coming from your refrigerator. Models like yours may make unfamiliar sounds like a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound. Hard surfaces, such as vinyl or wood floors, walls or kitchen cabinets may amplify sounds. I hope this information is helpful. LG Fridge is a dependable winner!

Our LG fridge arrived under the careful delivery of the Best Buy’s BEST! We are pleased with the fridge’s dependability and quality with only one frustration…the hard to read backlit panel above the ice/water dispenser. There is not enough contrast from the small backlit type behind the shiny stainless.

The fridge stopped cooling after 3.2 years

The fridge stopped cooling 3.2 years after purchase, right after the 3 year extended geek service contract ended. LG support was good and sent a tech the next day. The tech said the compressor was bad and replaced it. Not happy with the quality of this brand that it should fail. After reading online reviews, many have complained about the compressor failing after 3 years. Also found out that a class action lawsuit against this failing compressors was settled last year for purchases between 2014 and 2017. I hope the replaced compressor works well without any further issues.

We bought this refrigerator a couple of years ago. We bought it based on looks and its a big fridge it looks freat in our kitchen. But this refrigerator has given us so many problems since weve bought it. The compressor went out twice! Then it was something else its always breaking down for every reason it stops cooling. Lg came out to fix it but of course they come out when it’s convenient for them meanwhile my groceries all went bad. And they came a week later to fix it. Its now out again and they are refusing go come out to fix it. The refrigerator is and has always been well taken care of for it to be going out so much

Do not buy!!! They offer a warranty however be prepared to wait at least a week to 15 days for them to repair your refrigerator. Even if you buy extra warranties it does not help, they do not care that you have to go out and buy another small refrigerator to keep your medicines cold. Compressor out in 2 years. They are just too busy. They distributor vendor even states their compressors are going out all the time and that is why they are slammed all the time. I had purchased several LG products before, will not be purchasing them again if they can't service their customers in a timely manner then they don't deserve my business.
