I spent a lot of time researching a monitor that would be a good fit for my Xbox 1 X. I stumbled upon this one and it checked all the boxes in regards to what I was looking for. I have received/set up and played quite a bit over this past weekend and this monitor does not disappoint. There are a lot of the same questions online for those asking about the capabilities of this monitor and wanted to clear it up now for xbox gamers. This monitor DOES support Freesync over HDMI. The only box you can't check, in xbox display settings, is auto low latency mode. This may be a result of enabling this feature thru the monitor. Either way imput lag is almost non existent and I noticed a huge difference coming from my LG C8 which also has great imput lag. Regarding the HDR, its really good. I played Gears of War 4 and it looked very good. This may be the ideal monitor if you own a console, especially the xbox.

Very good clear picture in bright room

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

While the picture is great for viewing in bright room there is a lot of light bleed from backlight especially in lower right hand corner. There is also some in other corners as well some along the top edge just left of center. I looked online & this pattern of light bleed matched what I seen online. This truly interferes with viewing in low light enough to obscure detail especially in lower right hand corner in darkened room. Only fix was to turn backlight all the way down which minimizes impact in scenes that require intense lighting to get best dynamic range. Good news is that the picture gets nice & bright for viewing in bright rooms & had best looking picture of all the 4k monitors on display. This monitor lacks height adjustment & rotation adjustment but mounting feels sturdy so I'm not taking any points off for that. I wish that this monitor supported user calibration but even so looks to be fairly accurate. Don't bother turning on HDR except to use with true HDR content as HDR does not look good on desktop no matter how you slice & dice it settings wise. I tried very hard to make it look good on desktop but too much color issues for it to work there. While the view didn't look washed out so much it just didn't pop either as good as it did with good old sRGB for desktop. However it was enteresting that some picture elects turned out to be quite overesaturated especially the red close button for closing window was way overesaturated compared to SRGB. So lesson is use sRGB for desktop & apps but turn on HDR for HDR content only. Windows does not automatically switch unfortunately. Maybe in a future update. I have the latest 1809 version installed here & it still does not auto switch. This monitor is recommended if you are viewing in bright room but not otherwise.

Amazing 4K HDR Monitor for Xbox One X!

I have been playing my Xbox One X on a 65" TCL 6 series 4K HDR TV 2018 model, and my boys had been playing an Xbox One X on a 1080p computer monitor. They finally talked me into looking for 4K HDR monitors, and I really could not find anything at first that would check all the boxes of native 4K resolution, IPS panel, HDR, and AMD Freesync support. I had pretty much given up until I stumbled upon this 2018 LG monitor release. This thing is incredible with the Xbox One X (and with our PC connected to it of course). I will not claim that the HDR is as good as my TCL 6 series TV, BUT it is actually very good and clearly enough to make a real difference when watching 4K HDR content and playing games. We looked at the following content to test things out: 1. The Insects demo on the Xbox store very clearly showed how awesome the 4K detail matters even when looking at a 27" monitor a couple feet away, and the HDR toggle on and off really showed the awesome rich colors on the flowers and the ladybug in a way that I wasn't expecting. 2. We played Planet Earth 2 through the Xbox One X on 4K Blu-ray, and wow it honestly was pretty close to how great it looks on my TCL 6 series. Again, very surprising for me at least. 3. I fired up Gears of War 4 which IMO has some 4K HDR reference type material in some of the gameplay such as the lightning storms, and again I was extremely impressed by the fact that this monitor actually does give you a very credible/good HDR experience on this type of content IMO. This is definitely where the TCL 6 series was able to pull ahead more in terms of the HDR, BUT the in game HDR side by side visualization feature definitely really showed that this is still very nice and worth having here. It also appears that Freesync and HDR can be enabled at the same time without issue based on testing so far. In short my boys are very happy that they now get to experience the Xbox One X 4K HDR gaming basically as intended, and this monitor is nice enough that I would have no problem playing my games on it if they wanted to play on my 65" TCL 6 series at some point either.

Tried this monitor out and did a review for my YouTube channel since I had a friend looking for a monitor who's just getting into photography. The colors are nice and full of contrast, has no lag I could detect (casual gamer) with a PS4 Pro and seems to fit the bill all around. The only downside is it's not height adjustable and able to go into portrait mode (check the 650 model for that), however for gaming I think it's great.

After about 4 weeks of going over reviews of both 5 and 4k monitors I became numb with the overload of information, statistics and opinions. I ended up settling on this model, connected to a 2018 Mac mini via an active DP cable through Thunderbolt 3. All I can say is the quality of the image is fantastic! Colors are vivid yet accurate. Viewing angles are exceptional and MacOS Mojave's native scaling makes viewing text, images, webpages and various spreadsheets/and slide shows very easy on my older set of eyes. I was going to purchase this unit even before it went on sale ($100 off regular price). For the cost, functionality, quality and appearance it is an exceptional buy. I also have not experienced any issues with the stand as others have. For me, this is a perfect match for my mini. Would recommend this for anybody looking for an affordable 4K monitor that is under 32" and wants the benefits of the higher resolutions 4k provides! I would highly recommend the use of an ACTIVE Thunderbolt 3 cable to obtain the best, most stable results.

I was kinda skeptical because it's pretty affordable, ips, 4k, freesync, hdr10. But this monitor is amazing. It may be because it's my first UHD monitor and I've never seen any other than store displays, but I am impressed! No dead pixels, nice vibrant colors I didn't even have to calibrate, decent amount of ports, and this one may be irrelevant but I just love the white aesthetic. Power cable and adapter, as well as included DP and HDMI ports are white and so is the back of the panel. Honestly had no idea they were white but it fits nicely with my white themed pc! I tested metro exodus and bfv with my rtx 2080 with freesync enabled and I was in awe. 4k videos and movies look stunning too. If you've never had a 4k display, go to YouTube and look up a 4k nature video, you won't be disappointed!

I bought this mainly on price, and on a recommendation. I was skeptical, because of 4K vs 5K, and I use a 2017 MacBook Pro 13 inch. I know that the monitor on that is Retina, and I wanted the same on my bigger monitor. And the LG 5K seems to be the only way to really do that. A friend recommended this one, having bought it himself. The price was really good. And after reading a couple of other reviews, citing Macbook usage, I figured I would give it a try. I ordered a USB-C to display port cable (eliminated the Dongle) from another vendor, as it was not available here. What I wanted to do was use the one cable of the LG 5K, but again, there is that price. The monitor came in today. I set it up, plugged it all in, and on came the display. I almost fell over backwards! The text is SOOOO clear! And I haven't even adjusted it yet! Nice and bright, and sharp! I am comparing to my HD monitor (27 inch also), and it is incredible! As for using it with a Mac, seems to be no issues, as the setup was automatic and it recognized without any issues. I did have to set my audio back to the internal speaker source, but no problem there. I will eventually outfit with an external speaker system. Most people review these for gaming use, or watching video, or photo editing. Honestly, these are not a big deal as much with lower resolution. What gets ignored is TEXT. Even when looking at the displays in the store, everyone shows video or pictures. I look at a monitor for 7 to 10 hours per day, manipulating text and the like. You don't usually see reviews of text, but I think that it is one of the most difficult things to get on the display correctly. And this monitor does it!

The perfect monitor for MacBook Pro

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this monitor for use with a MacBook Pro 15". I use it primarily for photo editing. My MacBook's display I have hardware calibrated and to my pleasant surprise, this LG monitor, right out of the box, was factory calibrated so well that I do not need to use a separate profile for it to match the calibrated MacBook. For best accuracy, I have the screen brightness turned down to about 70%. This is a really nice display in terms of performance and aesthetics. Connectivity: I have several dongles for USB-C to HDMI but only one of them supported 4K @ 60hz and it was ugly and bulky. I read some reviews elsewhere that indicated a USB-C to DisplayPort cable (no box, just a cable) was the best solution. I purchased that cable from a very large online store ;) for less than $20 and now I have 4K @ 60hz. The cable is a very thin and flexible (about the same diameter as the Mac USB-C charger cable) which keeps my desk space neat and organized. Prior to making this purchase, I did a lot of research on 4k/5k panels. I had the 27" iMac 5K for awhile but found it a hassle to use two different machines (it and my MacBook). The 5K iMac set a new, higher standard for me so it was tough to find a monitor that didn't feel like a letdown when put in comparison. This LG seems to be the best deal with what I perceive to be no compromises. 4K vs. 5K wasn't that critical to me. LG makes another version of this monitor that uses the same display panel but it combines the video and MacBook charging power through a single USB-C connection from the monitor. There is a considerable price difference for this one, significant enough that I can't justify the cost just to eliminate one little cable connection.

I have been looking to replace a nice Samsung 27in 1080P monitor for 3 months. I own a custom built gaming PC with a Geforce GTX 1080TI card, 32Gig ram, I7 Processor and I wanted a nice monitor to game with, write papers on and just surf the web. After looking at hundreds of reviews I decided to give this one a try. I got it hooked up in 15 minutes, no problems, out of the box config was solid and the picture is amazing. I tweaked the setting for Game and played a round of World of Warships on their 4K setting as well as World of Warcraft. I admit it isnt a mega fast gaming monitor but it works extremely well in my opinion, most people would not notice the difference unless they are detail obsessed. The clarity is amazing and performance certainly meets my needs, its a joy to use. If your on the fence looking at a 4K monitor, I think this is your pick. I was worried about font size but honestly the clarity alone makes the user experience a pleasure. I am definitely happy I spent the money...

    Great picture

Just got this a few days ago, the picture looks great, even youtube videos look better on this than my 27" 1080p monitor. It is easy to assemble and connect. The stand looks nice, but just barely fits on the shelf of my desk, the stand is lightweight and seems sturdy. But, there are a few minor issues, first the included HDMI cables should be at least a foot longer (not everyone can put their PC close to their accessories). the power is DC and it comes with a converter, but the grounded plug on the converter is not the usual, it could only be used in the bottom plug in a wall socket, if you put it in the top the cord would be in the way. And the usual problem with hooking up your PC to 4K, everything gets smaller because of the higher resolution, that is not LG's fault, that blame goes to the Software creators especially the Operating System providers. Anyway if you're looking for a great 4K monitor at a good price buy this one.

    Great 4k Gaming Monitor

Purchased this monitor to use for my primary gaming monitor in my office with my PS4 Pro. I do not have the space for a 40 + inch HDR/4k TV so I spent quite a bit of time looking for a smaller monitor to check those boxes. This is hands down the best price and best performing ISP, 4k, HDR monitor you can buy under $400 bucks. I got it for around $340 as an open box item at my local BB. If you do play on either an Xbox one X or PS4 Pro, I would suggest using the "HDR Game" mode, for an incredible picture.

This monitor is well worth its price. The HDR works fairly flawless but will require some adjustments for personal taste (within its own settings). It works with PS4, XBoxOne, and PC. Compared to the Samsung 4k monitor this one blows it out of the water! Color accuracy is at 99% and it is an IPS display, so artists can also benefit from this monitor. And of course, works well for everyday tasks~ The monitor has a 5ms response time, so if you're a professional PC gamer you might want to look for something else.

I did my homework and as of the date that I write this, it is the best deal on the best monitors out there. You can get bigger and you can get brighter, but these are more than enough for 99% of users. I have a state-of-the-art liquid cooled rig that is brand new and three of these monitors. The monitors are every bit as worthy as anything else in my system. I definitely recommend them at this time.

I switched from a 65” 4K Tv without free sync. I’m a 100% believer in smaller screens to play games like PUBG. I can spot enemies from super far away, which I couldn’t before. Also the clarity is perfect and with free sync on (xbox one X has this feature) there is no frame drops. Everything is smooth. Best PUBG monitor on the market for the XBOX ONE X.
