First TV ever
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first time that I have ever bought a television. Seems to do what is demanded of it. Needs to be updated constantly. Gonna make some tambour sliding doors so that I don’t have to look at it.

Great TV Monitor Replacement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is absolutely great for what I purchased it to use for. I’m using this as a desktop monitor replacement, I replaced 2 27 inch monitors with this 42 inch TV screen. The OLED is absolutely stunning, you won’t be disappointed if you purchase this for multi media consumption. For gaming, which is what I am primarily using it for - It works quite well. The 120 Hz refresh rate is fast enough for most FPS games, and the Adaptive refresh rate on the TV keeps up with games that can’t run the full 120 Hz 4K, even getting down to about 60fps lows in some games, it keeps up. My main gripe with this is that there is incredibly aggressive automatic brightness limiting. It is most noticeable during FPS gaming with particle effects as well as bright HDR content when watching multimedia. It doesn’t last for very long but well it’s happening it is quite noticeable and quite annoying. I knew going into the purchase that this was an issue but it is more pronounced than I expected. If it Didn’t have that issue I would’ve rated five stars across the board, it is absolutely incredible at everything I want to use it for and worth the price. If you can snag it on sale because the new C4 has released, it’s even more worth it.

Excellent TV!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been in the market for a oled tv for awhile and I finally decided to bite the bullet. I have the 42in since I was gonna put it in a media cabinet built pre-2000s and it fits perfectly. I have an Apple TV 4k plugged in and the picture looks great whenever im watching something in 4k and even sports look better when I watch them. I also have a PS5 plugged in and games run and look great at 60-120 fps. The tv has a gaming optimizer which does tell you the refresh rate at which the game is running at. I would definitely recommend this tv. Plus I even recommended it to someone who wind up buying the same model in a 55in and it looks phenomenal as well.

Perfectly Rounded OLED option for console users
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been great for just about anything I’ve used it for, from gaming to watching shows or movies. 120 HZ @ 4k with Xbox series X and PlayStation, with support for Dolby vision and HDR. The 42” version is great either sitting up close or further away. Not only does it look great for these tasks but the added functionality of the smart features makes it an even better buy. Not sure how using this to daily drive PC/office tasks would work considering the burn in risk, but coming from a console user this is one of the better options you can consider to get the most out of your next gen.

Challenging, but excellent.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to replace my old Samsung LED set, so I bought a new Sony X85, which was a huge disappointment. In order to avoid wasting more time, I decided to spend a lot more money on this set, which was the right decision. The picture quality is excellent in every respect, and it does a remarkable job of uoscaling older content. All is not perfect, however. The assembly instructions consist only of cryptic pictures, and the user directions are puzzling - it took quite a while to figure out how to install the legs. There are also several pieces for which no use is shown. After initial turn on, one has or wend one’s way through a batch of useless LG menus. If you don’t, you can’t use the set. After all of those, you get a bewildering home menu, which one uses with an equally challenging remote. Eventually, one can actually begin viewing, which makes all of the torture one has used worthwhile. The image is as good as one can get anywhere, far better than any OLED. So, it is expensive and exasperating, but well worth the cost and expense.

Excellent office, game, and movie monitor
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am absolutely, totally, extremely impressed with this monitor, I mean TV. I had already built my new PC with a 4080 GPU, and for months I was still using my old 1080P 23 inch monitor. I tried out many 32" LCDs, but they all had one issue or another. Eventually I learned about the LG OLED TVs. Initially I thought 42" was way too big. But the more I learned about the benefits and features I decided to give it a try. And once I found a good deal, I jumped. I use my C3 42 8 hours a day while working from home. After work, I use it for gaming and entertainment, so tack on another 4 hours. It's connected to my RTX 4080 GPU at 120 Hz using a HDMI 2.1 cable. I have Windows scaled to 125% and everything looks great. I don't notice any issues reading text. Everything is clear and crisp. Only issue is if the screen stays static for a while, it goes a bit dimmer. But once you move the mouse it brightens back up. I mostly play FPS games and the size really adds to the immersion. I play for fun, not professionally or competitively. I use a couple built in streaming apps and they work and look great when streaming. I use the TV speakers and they sound pretty good to me. I switch between AI sound, and Cinema. I never thought I would enjoy having a TV as a monitor, but I really like the ability to quickly change between my 2 PCs, built in streaming apps, external streaming stick, or live OTA TV. It's quite a handy device. I do worry about possible burn-in a few years from now since I'm racking up the power-on hours, so I did purchase the 5 yr geek squad warranty. If you've read the hype about using this as a PC monitor, believe it. Look for a good deal, and go for it.

LG OLED 42" is a GREAT TV!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After owning a 40" Sony Bravia (early model) and most recently a 32" LG 1080P, I am THRILLED with this 42" LG OLED evo 4K! The picture is SO clear and sharp and the colors so accurate. The sound (on AI setting) is quite good with spoken word (news), but the AI gets confused when music and voice occur simultaneously (movies & TV series), and the sound becomes uneven and somewhat muddled. Luckily, I have the cable connected to a nice Onkyo two-speaker bookshelf system; the combo of that with the LG? Wow! As far as brightness is concerned, I used the AI-assisted personalization-of-the-picture feature to come up with something that works really well. The TV is right between two big windows, and it's just fine during full sun, but it really comes alive at night! Super bright picture for movies and bingeing! No complaints at all. The other great thing about this TV is that it sits low, so it fits in front of our bookshelf without blocking any important shelves. Rated "best 42" television" you can buy, this LG OLED is fantastic!

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After doing A LOT of research on buying a new TV, the LG OLED was the best one. And it really is. The picture is wonderful, even in a bright room. I just connected my computer to the webOS via wi-fi and I watched Netfflix and Amazon with no problems. The only issues are: 1. You will need a soundbar. The sound out of the TV is good but isn't rich & doesn't pick up background sounds like the soundbar will. 2. The TV will turn off by itself after about 30 mins, but I realize it has to do with the soundbar. If the soundbar has no sound coming out of it, then it'll turn off by itself. The soundbar is linked to the TV via HDMI eARC. 3. The "magic" remote. Its a nice feature but the pointer action isn't the easiest at times. 4. Watching Netflix & Amazon Prime via webOS is great but I realized there are some settings & navigation features you can't access on webOS that you can if you watch streaming via HDMI connection directly to the computer.

Fabulous OLED
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been clinging to my old plasma TV, which of course they don't make anymore, because the picture is better than all the new LCD's. Been waiting for a new technology to replace it...enter OLED! I pulled the trigger on this one because the size and price is right, and it was recommended by Wirecutter and the Best Buy employee. I am 100% satisfied with it! The picture quality is fabulous, everything I expected and hoped for, coming from a plasma. The blacks are perfect, and it's plenty bright. Also the sound is surprisingly awesome when using the AI Sound Pro...using it without a soundbar now and it's great for me, I don't even need subtitles like I used to for speech. I use filmmaker mode for picture, and turn off the energy saver (for increased brightness). I got a 42" because it's for our small bedroom...might get a bigger one in the future and I'd be happy sticking with LG C3. Highly recommended...

A winner!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an outstanding TV. Extremely sharp. Color is great. Very bright. Looks the same from any angle. Responds quickly. No blurring at all on motion, so it's great for sports, The sound is okay but a little thin so I added a soundbar which enhances it greatly. I didn't like the pointer on the "magic remote" at first, but it's actually handy, especially since I feel the menus are a little more complicated than necessary and the pointer makes them easier to navigate. Bottom line is that I'm very pleased and satisfied with this unit. If you enjoy watching tv shows, movies and sports on a set that makes them all look as vibrant and natural as they can, this is a great choice.
