I solved this by buying a ZVOX speaker for people who wanted clear voices as in hearing aids-now voices are crystal clear.

Put it to the brightest setting and took it off energy saver, but still a little dark. Unfortunately this doesn’t have a sleep button on the remote, need to go into setting. Not easily accessible for my mom.

The picture quality is not at all as good as I expected. My plain ole 32" is much better. I adjusted every setting to no avail. I think it is just sadly not that good of quality.

I decided to try the LG but wish I’d bought another Samsung as the LG picture is not as good as my old Samsung! But it’s adequate and hopefully it’ll last as long as the Samsung did.

About 6 mos. in, had to make warranty claim for screen failure. Now in 7/20, LG (home screen) comes up when TV is turned on, but nothing else. Tried simple reboot, just lg on screen. Can't turn off with TV power button or remote. Google research says bad motherboard. Service and parts as much or more than new TV. Trying other solutions. Won't be an LG if needs replaced.
