we brought this tv for the job lunch room after christmas 2014. so far tv works fine and has a good picture. we may have to play with the setting due to dark images at times. my main reason for writing this review is to let people know the sound level is terrible. it seem as if they are forcing you to buy a sound bar. yes you can hear the sound but in a slightly noisy room you have to turn the volume all the way up to around 80 as to we only had to turn the old tv up to 15. i've read other reviews with the same complaint so i know its not just us. we're trying to figure out how to hook it up to our stereo system but there no regular audio out other than a digital out. we have to spend more money on a digital out box that transfers the signal to analog stereo so we can connect it to our stereo. if i can find another tv in the same size and price range i would return this tv just to avoid all this extra set up. even though i'm complaining i recommend this tv for home use but be prepare to turn tv volume way pass normal range. price, size & picture are the plus factors.

I got this TV back in November and have been pretty happy with it. Great picture quality, video games look awesome on it. I would have given it 5 stars but the sound on the TV is disappointing. I have mine hooked up to a sound bar so its no bother for me, but if you try to enjoy the TV without one you're gonna have a bad time.

We went from an old "tube" TV to this. Hubby loves it! Picture quality is awesome! Setup was very easy! Price was excellent since we got it on the Black Friday sale.

I am not sure why but this TV was not on the showroom floor for some reason but when I asked the rep, he was able to get it from storage inventory. Picture quality is exceptional and sound is just fine. Overall for the price, I would definitely appreciate this almost 50" TV for gaming and HD movies.

I picked one of these up on Black Friday. Great price for a 49 inch of any make let alone an LG. So now that I've had it for a month I think I can give an informed opinion. First off, it's a nicely constructed TV. Does not look or feel cheap. The picture quality is top notch. And if you like tweaking the picture settings, you'll love this TV! And you do need to do make some adjustments. Out of the box the picture is too bright and the color and contrast are weak. Once you fine tune things, the picture is excellent. So that part of the TV is great! Output options are very limited for a TV this size. 2 HDMI inputs, 1 component/composite and a cable input....that's it. And only a toslink digital output. As others have noticed, sound quality is not very good on this TV. You have to turn it up almost full blast to get a decent sound level. If you have a sound bar or are hooking it up to a receiver, this may not be a problem. My only problem with this TV is that it doesn't output a Dolby digital signal through it's digital output when using an HDMI component, only Dolby Pro Logic....which makes no sense. And this is the only TV I have where there is nowhere in the settings to make changes to the output signal. I know it can output a digital audio signal because it does when using an antenna. So not exactly a deal breaker but it's something that bothers me. A very nice TV with great picture quality and so so audio capability.

The tv works well, for the price its good, a good hdmi cord can fix some of the minor issues, and adding a sound bar sure makes the experience a lot better.

At $399 it was good for the price. It is nice that there is at least one tv you can by that is just a tv.

The TV doesn't have smart capabilities but if you don't need that then this is the tv for you.

Purchased this tv on Black Friday and for a $399 TV it has a great picture for a 60htz tv. Couldn't beat the price, hope to get years of viewing pleasure.

Its a great tv for this price. Picture quality is too good. On connecting with Apple TV, its works great

I have had several TVs in the last few years (sony bravia 49, vizio 47, etc) but none of them are as good as this LG model in terms of image. I ninitially bought it because I felt it was a great price, I know some people bought it for this price on Thanksgiving day. Its image quality is impressive, crystal clear. We feel like we have a cinema at home. I also like the fact that LG is probably the only brand to include 110-220V on their tvs at the moment. So if you want to take it overseas it shouldn't be a problem. The sound quality however is not so great when I compare to my previous sony bravia I bought back in 2009. But I am OK with this since I purchased it for more than $1,000 several years ago. This LG cost me 399 (before taxes) so I feel I can easily purchase a home theather sound system to improve its sound quality. This sound system can be used a few years later with a new tv I may buy again so it is a good investment. Where can you find a 49inch tv, excellent brand, and image quality for price?
