I bought this because I wanted a decent sized TV in my rec room. I already have an Android TV player and did not need a smart TV. This has good picture quality and sound and is a good value for money.

    Nice TV

Nice size TV for my bedroom and I couldn't pass up the price. I already have an Amazon Fire Stick so I didn't need the smart TV. There wasn't an audio out, but I already knew that when I purchased it. I bought an audio extractor device and was able to hook up my audio receiver anyway, it works for sound bars too, so no big deal. Overall, I'm happy with the TV and it has a great picture.

Bought this TV for my Dads 85th Birthday, he doesn’t need all that 4K and Smart stuff so this was great TV set up for him. Set up was pretty easy, did have a little trouble with the color of the picture but got it figured out. Picture is great. Sound is just ok. It’s clear and you can hear it just not great quality sound. Overall very worth the $300.

    Low Price, Low Quality

To start, the sound on this TV is embarrassingly bad. No matter what you do, it will always sound like your new TV is projecting sound through an iPhone speaker. Even for a budget TV, this is just unacceptable sound quality. As a note, the TV does not have an Audio Out port so a soundbar is not an option. Next is the picture, the picture is pretty clear while watching Blu Ray and regular HD cable with nice vibrant color but the screen is very dim. No matter what changes are made in the settings it will always look dim. For $300 on sale, this is not a good deal. Spend the extra $50 on something else a bit higher in quality. I'll be returning this TV in exchange for something of much better value.

My second LG TV and like the first one, the picture is outstanding. I have no need for a smart TV and this LED 49" 1080 TV's picture quality is impressive.

This was a second TV in the basement. Didn't need the Smart TV setting but for the price it is well worth it. Does have only 2 HDMI plug ins.

    Returned due to Dim Backlight

We bought this TV online after reading lots of positive reviews about the picture quality so I was surprised when both my husband and I found ourselves complaining how dark the picture was. We tried everything we could to change brightness, energy conservation settings, etc. but nothing helped so we ultimately took it back and exchanged for a similar priced Vizio

    The suggested products are incompatible

The LG 49LG51 TV does not connect with the 300W wireless soundbar as the Bestbuy website suggests it does. There is no optical connector on the TV and the soundbar does not have an HDMI or Composite Jacks. From what I am seeing on the LG site, it doesn’t appear that the 49LG51 doesn’t pair with any soundbars. (If this is wrong, please let me know.) I am frustrated that the website implies that these products integrate, but more so I am irriated at LG for releasing two products this year that are not compatible. You would have thought that someone from each of the product teams would have run into each other in the hallway or at a nearby Starbucks and started talking shop. One of them should have though…hey wouldn’t it be cool if our products worked together?

    Beyond Basic

The LG TV I had purchased last year was broken by my dog. I needed to replace it so I went for LG again. Salesman told me this had the same hook ups as my current TV and was the brand new "2017 model". Much to my surprise when I went to hook it up there were only two HDMI ports and NO optical connection. How does a brand new TV not have an optical connection? I have a store brand TV from 9 years ago that even has that. Now I can't find a decent price sound bar that I can actually hook up to this. TV's are all hanging in the store so I couldn't see the connection ports before purchasing. My fault for not asking. Should have just spent the extra $50 and went with the smart TV option even though I don't have internet at my home.

Basic TV, Does not have inbuilt movie player

Does not have inbuilt movie player from usb? It says current 2017 model and its a joke that it does not even support a movie from USB. For the price paid, its not worth the money. Better to buy an upgraded product.

Sound is terrible, glare is awful

Even for a discount TV, this is just not acceptable. Terrible sound quality (and no jacks to plug in a sound bar??) - And god forbid you should want to watch this TV with any light source behind you...GLARE. This TV screen may as well be a mirror for the amount of light it reflects back at the viewer. I'll be returning this TV ASAP in favor of something of higher quality...probably not LG.

You cannot connect external sound bar, even though online info claims you can. Verified with LG and Geek Squad. Verify unsatisfied.

We can confirm that to use a sound bar, you would need to connect an external source (cable box, Blu-ray player, etc...) directly to the soundbar itself. ^RW LG

    NO OPTICAL OUTPUT

There is NO OPTICL OUTPUT on this TV. It is essentially a stone age technology. I wish I would have noticed this before purchasing. After purchasing and returning to bestbuy, I cannot find a cable that would help me attach my soundbar.
