Wish I had bought another Samsung. The volume drops off during a program and it has to be increased, then later decreased. The remote with its red pointer is waay too sensitive even after adjusting the speed. The picture seems to have three vertical zones and the color varies slightly in each zone. Basically a $600 piece of junk that I bought less than a month ago.

What a NIGHTMARE this TV is. Pops and the whole screen goes white. I bought the warranty, but I have to go through geek squad and then LG. It’s been the worst experience ever. It broke once and now it’s crazy and doing it now more than ever. So done.

    Great Birthday Present

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When my husband talked to me about purchasing the LG Nano 8 Series TV, Model 49SM8600PUA, to replace our older but functioning TV I was reluctant. But since his birthday was approaching I relented. I am glad that I did! I helped him assemble the stand and lift the set onto our cabinet (see picture) but the rest was up to him. He said the connections were well marked and setting it up to work with our cable box a snap. Once I saw the picture I was astonished. Sharp, clear and the colors vivid. I wear hearing aids and the audio is so clear. I had trouble hearing with our old TV, often resorting to sub-titles. But with this set I have no trouble. Then he showed me the “Magic Remote” and how easy it is to use. The voice commands make it so easy, and pressing the built in Netflix button brings up Netflix instantly vs the wait using the cable box. To sum it up, I am enjoying his birthday present. Full Disclosure: I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.

    - Pleasantly Suprised

    Posted .

To be honest I bought this TV half-heartedly because I could not fit in a larger screen of 55 in in cabinet. I originally was looking for a 55 inch Sony however they did not make the TV I was looking for in a smaller size. The Magic Remote on this TV is incredible for streaming. Compared to TVs I found in the past the colors are extremely accurate and I love the viewing angles from any part of the room. Also as the other reviewer had mentioned there is Alexa support but I was told from a Best Buy associate that this would be an update sometime this or next month.

This is my second nano cell TV, couldn't be happier with performance and ease of use. These are amazing televisions if you don't want to spend OLED money. Audio range isn't as good from the built in speakers as my 65 inch, but still better than the 49 inch it replaced.

I've had this TV for over 3 years now and it still works like a charm. I've not had any loading issues, bad imaging or issues with the smart features. The sound works fine, I rarely have to turn the volume past 20 (and usually it's for older movies where the audio is lower). I cast things to the TV from my phone all the time (ie; Spotify, AppleTV, Netflix, Youtube), control it on my phone, play video games on my PS4 and use all of the usual apps (HBOMax, PrimeVideo, Netflix, Hulu, etc). LG is a great brand and the way to go when it comes to smart TVs with longevity, resilience and fantastic picture.

    Mixed feelings

After the first 2 hours of operation, I was ready to pack it up and return it. Then I started getting into the operation/user manual and MULTIPLE combinations of settings for a clear and accurate color. Finally got to that point ant decided to keep it. BUT, it does take a rocket scientist. Suggestion: go to ig.com and download the user manual. It's much more helpful (ie. I didn't even know how to turn on the TV manually till I read it). If you have a cable box, go into the settings and make sure the audio/video settings are in line with this new type of TV. Keep track of the video settings for the various aspect rations available. And to adjust color, go to All Settings/ Picture/ Picture Mode to adjust the color. Overall...it's an OK 50" for the money.

    Does not integrate with soundbar

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The picture on this TV is fantastic and one of the best I have seen at a 49-50” size. However the “universal” remote does not integrate well with other external devices. Remote will not turn on/off my Bose soundbar. This is significant because it does not truly mean the remote is universal. I still need to use a separate soundbar remote in addition to the LG remote, which is a serious flaw. Further, this LG TV does not have an internal Roku app. This means that I need to use a separate (3rd remote) to access Roku apps that aren’t native to LG. Finally, LG does not have a native Spectrum/TWC app (thus the need for the Roku). Where I live, Spectrum is the largest and most common cable provider, so this is another significant concern. In conclusion, the native apps are highly limited, the universal remote is not truly universal, and LG does not integrate well with my cable provider. If you are okay using 3-4 separate remotes to operate this TV in order to get a good picture, go for it. For the price, I was highly disappointed and returned it.

We are sorry you are unable to operate some features of your connected devices using the magic remote control. Not all features of other devices are able to be controlled by the remote control. We would recommend reaching out to the maker of your external device regarding the compatibility of the remote control with their soundbar. We appreciate your feedback regarding the available applaications and your desire to obtain a Spectrum/TWC application. A list of available applications for the 49SM8600PUA can be found on the following page: http://us.lgappstv.com ^CP LG
