This player is a base model feature wise. No bells or whistles, No clock or digital display, no apps or video programs for streaming. It comes with a nice remote. So simple Grandma could set it up and use it. It's very slim and compact. It doesn't take up much space which is nice. If you're just looking for functionality to pop in a movie and watch it, this is a great player for you.

I have to be honest, this is one of my favorite all time purchases I have ever made. Of ANY product. Easy to hook up, use, adjust settings. So much so, I bought one for my sister. She loves it so much we got one for our friend. And she thinks it’s unbelievable. I told her the LG OLED should be next purchase because mine produces the most clear ridiculously brilliant tv picture I have ever seen. LG is killing it with their products in ALL categories to be honest. Not one complaint. The Blu-ray player is thin, almost unnoticeable on my stand. Couldn’t be happier. Would give more stars if I could. If you need to upgrade from an old standard def DVD player, this is the perfect choice. And the price is very reasonable too. If you factor in the quality of Blu-ray player, it’s under priced. And in full disclosure, I’m not being paid by LG nor any other company. This is just how much I love this player.

We really like this player. Easy to hook up, great price, delivers great blu-ray movies. I can't say enough about it. It even plays your old Dvds.

I am very happy with this LG 4K player. I was in the market for a budget friendly 4K player and I came to find this LG. This is the only LG product I own and I'm very happy with it. Setup was very easy. I like the remote and the apps that are pre-loaded aren't too bad. I am very happy with the quality of movies it plays and it looks great on my TV. This is a great, budget friendly, 4K player.

Purchased a new, 65" 4K LG OLED screen (from Best Buy), so needed to get a 4K Blu-ray player. This LG model was well-reviewed and well-priced, so ended up getting it. I'm completely satisfied with the ease of use ... video quality ... simplicity of setup ... it's all great! Now, all I need is for Redbox to start offering more 4K titles in the area...

I purchased the LG 4K Ultra Blu-ray player so it would be compatible with my LG 4K TV. It was easy to connect and simple to begin using. It also has the added benefit of up-converting regular DVD’s to have an even better quality picture than the disc itself. While a little more expensive than other players, I felt it was worth the few extra dollars to get the quality I was looking for.

Works great. Easy installation. Watching great movies every day. Very slim low profile. Very vivid images. Very pleased with purchase price and quality. Would definitely recommend this model for purchase to anyone shopping for a DVD player. This is the first DVD player I have purchased in many years. Improvements have been numerous since my last DVD player purchase.

Easy to use but slow to update. Images look excellent but better cables improve the quality. Inexpensive DVD player compared to other similar items with really good quality.

After deciding on the LG 4K TV, I wanted to find a matching 4K DVD player. Though the price point was higher I was able to get a $150 BB gift card for the TV so in the end it was just $45 for the difference. It was a no brainer to set up and works great! the total 4K experience is incredible. I know there are cheaper DVD players on the market but this is by far the best.

Really recommend this very affordable and easy to use 4k player. Great value for the money. Highly recommended.

In reviewing 4K /Blue-ray Players I found this LG met my needs better than the others that I checked out. It works flawlessly with in my home entertainment system, plug and play straightforward. I use a Logitec controller and it integrated seamlessly on the first try.

This is a great player for 4K, Blu-ray, and regular old DVDs. I wanted to have the option of a single player that would not only play Blu-ray but also the DVDs that I already own and don’t see the need to update (tv series for example). The picture quality of my old DVDs is surprisingly good on my LG 43" UltraFine 4K UHD Monitor (I use the monitor with my Mac mini for work, as well as for entertainment). I’m opposed to smart tvs and Blu-Ray players, so for me the lack of smart feature and internet streaming is a plus. I use my computer for any streaming I may wish to utilize. So if you need an all in one, this will not be the best option for you. But if like me you like to have more control over your data, this is perfect.

The LG UBK80 player is, as I mentioned in the title, a good 4k player for those on a budget; I picked this up as an open box sale item for just over $110, including an extended warranty. However, it does have some problems that I would like to address: First, the good: This player does play major media formats: DVD, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-ray, and of course 4K. It doesn't make any noise while the disc is playing. The front of the unit shows a red light when the power is off and a green light when it's powered on. The player also feels solidly constructed. The bad: The disc tray barely comes out when I hit the eject button. For someone like me who has arthritis, this is a problem. I would have liked to have seen the tray come out to a more traditional length, like I've seen on past players that I own. On the UBK80, it requires a balancing act on my part to grab a disc out of the tray or to even place a disc in the tray because of the reduced tray length. The second problem I have is that this player doesn't seem to remember viewing settings. Whenever I power on the player or swap discs, the viewing display in the options menu constantly resets to "Standard" when I would prefer to leave it on "Movie". Having to reset that setting constantly gets old fast. The included remote should be mentioned as well. It's very small and only requires 1 AAA battery to run, something I'd not seen before. However, the size is also a minus because for someone like me who has a larger than average hand it makes it hard to hit the correct functionality buttons consistently. Also of note, this player does not offer streaming options like Youtube or Hulu. Some consumers have stated this is a turnoff but for me it's a plus because I already have a smart TV so why should I pay twice for the same functionality in my home theater. Overall, I still think this is a solid entry 4K player. In spite of the pitfalls, I'd have to say I'm rather pleased with it overall. So I will recommend it but with some reservations.

You cant find a 4k blu ray player with such high quality for such a good price as this. You dont need the wifi installed if you have a smart tv so no complaints here. I love how it up scales my movies and plays the small amount of 4k discs.

The picture quality is good. It’s easy to setup and use with your tv. The device is a nice size and fits easily under my flatscreen TV legs. The remote is a easy to use as well and a nice size.

I was looking for a basic bluray player (not necessarily a 4k player) for my bedroom setup. I stream content with my Intel NUC pc connected to my 1080p samsung TV. Just needed something basic to watch DVDs and standard bluray discs. But I needed something with an optical digital audio output to run into my Peachtree powered monitor speakers. After searching every standard bluray player on the shelf, none of them had a digital optical output. This player was the most cost effective unit with the necessary digital optical audio output. Works great for what I needed, even if I didnt need the 4k feature. The price was great at $99.99 also. The only downside is that the device has a fairly large footprint. I was hoping for something more compact.

Getting this player out of the box I was impressed by the solid nature of it. The size also matches my other components, not like smaller players I've had in the past. After getting it going (more on that in a minute), the picture quality was beyond beautiful. The remote is as straightforward as remotes are now, so nothing fancy but it did the job. The issue I had with this player, and why it only got 4 out of 5 stars is that I had to plug it into a LAN to do the initial programming, I guess for program and firmware updates. So I had to move my internet hardware around to accommodate this, then the rest of the programming flew by and I was watching a movie. I bought this player because my new TV does the streaming i need... guess I could have just bought the streaming player. That's why 4 star and not 5. More than happy now!

I have a 4k TV and wanted to get the most use out of it so I bought this player. After some research I went for this player because of the price and the good reviews. The first thing I did with the player was hook it up to the internet via ethernet cable. I updated the firmware. After that I tried out several 4k bluray movies. The load time for this player is fast. I also tried out a few regular blurays and it worked perfectly. This is the most affordable 4k player at BestBuy. And I have to agree with the reviews that it is a quality 4k player too.

We were looking for a high-quality, inexpensive, 4K UHD Blu-Ray Player without any wi-fi or other superfluous accouterments. After much research, we had a list of 3 of this type of player. All of them were carried by Best Buy. And we were surprised that Best Buy also had the best prices on the 3 units. After reading many reviews, we determined that this LG - UBK80 - 4K Ultra HD Hi-Res Audio Blu-Ray Player best met our needs. It is a superb player that has matched up well with our new 70" 4K UHD television. The picture from the player is magnificent and we have not had any problems with overall quality.

Very simple, does exactly what it should. The price on sale is perfect. 4K movies look great. BR movies are upscaled on 4K TV and look better than if played on a BR player. DVDs look good too.
