Hi, there. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We understand your concern about your LG Soundbar (S70TR) model doesn’t sound like a big improvement over your TV speakers (aside from the subwoofer), especially considering the investment in a full surround sound setup. Let’s see if we can enhance your audio experience! First, check these quick settings: On your TV, ensure Sound Output is set to HDMI ARC or optical, depending on your connection.

In your soundbar’s settings via the LG Sound Bar app, try adjusting the EQ settings or switching to a mode like Cinema or Bass Blast. If you've already tried all that and still aren't getting the immersive sound you expected, send us a message on social media at @LGUSSupport. Let us know your full setup (TV model, connection type, and app usage), and we’ll walk through it with you to improve your system’s performance. We appreciate you giving it a shot! ^Juvy LG

I am a big fan of improving TV sound and for the price, this LG setup is pretty good. "Loud" is a relative term but you can definitely get "loud" with this soundbar. Unlike "loud" with your built-in TV speakers, the audio from the soundbar doesn't distort as you turn it up but it isn't as rich as soundbars that cost 2x or more. It appears to be well built. It feels solid and has decent weight to it. Setup was super easy. Essentially, power to the soundbar, HDMI from soundbar ARC to TV ARC (or optical audio from bar to tv), and you are done if all you want is the bar. The subwoofer needs power but is wireless to the soundbar and should connect automatically. [If not, the sub has a "reconnect" button but I have not tested it as everything connected just fine.] The "wireless rears" are a bit misleading in that ONE of the rears connects via power to your wall and wirelessly to the soundbar...but the other rear hangs off the primary via an included, thin gauge speaker wire. If you run into installation problems or setup issues, there is an app to guide you. I do recommend downloading the app anyway as it is an easy way to tweak your setup if you don't like the out-of-the-box experience. In my opinion, again, things are a bit treble heavy and the rears felt a bit strong. The app, although not required, is an easy way to visually adjust your settings. Otherwise, you will hear voice commands from the LG soundbar remote when you press the settings button that will let you know if you are tweaking treble, bass, center, rears, sub--or moving through a preset collection of "WOW" settings like "standard, gaming, movie, clear voice, AI (i.e. "auto"), etc." In the end I pulled back some treble, pushed up the bass, added volume to the sub, and pulled volume off the rears to find the balance for our rather large, open room. Regarding the "preset" sound modes, I clicked through them all and found that "clear voice" really does help for things like news and talkshows or quiet dramas...but that the "AI" (auto) setting was the best overall because it did a good job of keeping voices crisp while balancing in bass effectively whenever something "exciting" or musical happens in a show. Auto also works well for listening to music. Please note that you do NOT have to use the app if you don't want to. Nor do you have to use the LG remote (if you ran through the ARC HDMI on your TV)--but you will need one or the other to quickly tweak audio settings. The soundbar itself has a bluetooth connectivity button as well as an input selector button, volume up/down, and power on/off. So if you lose the remote or the app, you can still control basic functions at the soundbar itself. Overall the soundbar is decent, fills the room, has good surround effects and keeps the audio crisp and loud. I do wish I could push the bass a bit farther but again, that too is relative because the quality of the feed and the age of the show you are watching impacts how much bass is truly mixed into the content. Regardless, the overall surround and audio quality is it is still WAY BETTER than what your TV cranks out through its native speakers. I am disappointed that "wireless rears" are still connected to one another via a wire. (I failed to mention, you can flip left/right on the rear speakers so if the powered speaker has to sit on the opposite side of the room it was meant for, you can go into the app and flip left and right rear.) The "AI" (i.e. "auto") sound setting works pretty well for nearly all listening. Listening to music via bluetooth is fairly rich and enjoyable and better than average for this price point. A good, relatively inexpensive soundbar setup for a first timer. It definitely boosts your audio quality and helps especially with vocal clarity, but if you want more depth and richer sounds, you will need to shift your pricepoint.

So easy to setup. I connect power to the main unit, the subwoofer and one of the rear speakers then connect speaker wire from rear left to rear right, and finally connect the hdmi eARC to TV ARC port and power the soundbar up. In no time, they all connected and sync up wirelessly and I am ready to watch movie. The sound is good not the best. The sound is clear and accurate without distortion but it is a bit on the bright side at the mid and high. At times, it can become noisy on those areas, there is no way to adjust it. Credit to its 5.1.1 configuration, it gives the speaker a wide soundstage. You are totally immersed in the sound field it generates. The Up-firing center channel makes this a 5.1.1 channel soundbar. The product comes with a template and bracket to mount the main unit on to a wall. I wish it would provide brackets to mount the two rear speakers as well. Total power is 500W and is measured in RMS! Support Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and all other formats and hdmi supports eARC. There is no user manual, you have to download the user manual. There is no LCD display so pressing the various buttons on the remote uses voice and combination of 3 LED lights to provide feedback. This is very user unfriendly, I had to remember how to decode the LED pattern and read the user manual to learn how to use the remote. Example: the Sound Tuning and the Settings button. The Sound Tuning button adjusts the sound level of the connected speaker. Press the Sound Tuning button and then Left/Right button to select the desired speaker before you press the Up/Down button to increase/decrease the sound volume. The Settings button allows you to adjust the settings of this product: AUTO POWER, SURROUND, NIGHT TIME, DISPLAY, and REAR CH SWAP. Apparently, if using a compatible LG TV, the soundbar uses the TV screen to provide interface feedback. But I don't have a LG TV. Also, there is a mobile app to pair with this soundbar called LG Soundbar app and you can use it to adjust tuning and settings like those described above. Sound mode include AI sound pro, bass blast+, cinema, music, game, sport, standard and clear voice pro. Without LG TV, you can use the remote to cycle through the modes and listen to the voice feedback.

Overall, the LG 5.1.1 channel soundbar, subwoofer, and speaker combo is a really nice televisions speaker setup. The sound quality is very good for the price range with enough settings to find the right configuration for whatever you are watching, from sports to news broadcasts to movies. Sound quality within our home has been great. Having an open floor plan, we have been able to get great audio quality. from our great room to our kitchen. One highlight is the clarity, which was a shortcoming of our prior system, but with this one, even near the subwoofer the talking comes through very clear. I found the overall setup to be simple and easy to navigate. The only reason for not giving this product a five star rating is due to having some initial issues when connecting to the subwoofer and satellite speakers. FYI, for anyone else who may experience a similar issue, I need to completely disconnect the soundbar from my television and unplug the power chord for fifteen to twenty seconds and then reconnect.

Pro: -Easy setup -VRR passthrough -Includes wall mounting brackets Con: -Sound quality not much better than TV speakers -Not truly wireless rear speakers Soundbar came well packaged in a box with the soundbar on one end, and subwoofers on the other with the 2 additional speakers under the subwoofer (be sure to remove the cardboard under subwoofer first to find, I missed it in initial inspection). It has a nice design, with a modern, slightly angular look. For connection types, there’s HDMI, Optical, and Bluetooth. There’s only one HDMI in, with the other HDMI (eArc) being an output to the TV. It is HDMI 2.1, so it can passthrough VRR up to 120Hz, great for modern game consoles. The Optical is nice to have for setup like connecting my PC to the system. It includes mounting brackets, which is a huge plus. Setting Up Setup was extremely simple and smooth. Followed instructions of which speakers to plug in first, then connected the HDMI Arc port to the soundbar and everything worked instantly. However, calling the rear speaker wireless is misleading since there is a wire that connects between the two speakers. The placing of the rear speakers is limited to the length of the wire. Audio I have this installed upstairs in an open game room, so my experience might vary from others using this in a smaller room. As a budget soundbar, the audio is okay. This likely is a pretty good bang for the buck for a smaller room. It adds spatial audio with the rear speakers, more bass, and can be turned up much louder, but overall audio quality isn’t that much better than the built in TV speakers. The sound EQ can be adjusted in the app, so you may find a setting that suits your needs better. I don’t have an LG tv, so I couldn’t take advantage of the extra audio features. I might have a faulty HDMI port in mine though, because audio kept dropping for a second about every 10 seconds. I reset the soundbar and the issue persists. I swapped to the optical cable and it solved the problem, but I lost the features of using eArc. Overall, factoring the price and what it adds to the space, it’s a decent budget soundbar. Audio quality may not be that impressive, especially compared to higher end models, but it does add more space to the sound and a bit more punch from the bass. For a smaller area or if you want to fill the space with directional sound, then it does an acceptable job.

The LG - 5.1.1-Channel S70TR Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer is a nice fit for my man cave. The 65" LG TV I am using with it synched up without any difficulty and the TV remote controls the sound bar volume. Using a Roku stick, I can also control the volume using the HDMI ARC. The sound is crisp and clear with a great immersion into the watching. Setup was easy with the pairing buttons and the phone application. I do think LG failed when they had the rear right speaker be wired to the left. I would much rather both be wireless signal and have to use another outlet. As it is, I needed to add a few feet of wire to place the speakers where I want them. Future wise, I wonder how feasible it would be for LG to add side channels to the set up and turn it into a 7.1.1. It might be as simple as a firmware update to add 2 connection settings and a pair of Bluetooth speakers. The included stencil for placement called for a 100mm spacing between the TV and sound bar, something that I found odd. However, once I installed it and saw the space given for the upward facing speaker, it works quite well. Plus, I can put the remotes on top of it!
