Tiny dialog, voices get lost.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hi, I am coming from last year's LG SJ9. I liked that sound bar but I missed having speakers for the back. So I got the SK10Y plus the back speakers combo for my OLED C7. The sound stage is different than the SJ9, and generally I like it, except for a big, big flaw. Dialog gets tiny, to the point that it is hard to know what is happening in the movie sometimes. I don't understand why LG didn't include the capacity to adjust the mid channel. That is a huge oversight from their part. I thought I had a defective unit, but reading online, it seems the lost vocals are an issue for this model.

Posted .Thanks so much for the excellent review and we are sorry this soundbar was not as expected. We have great news! We just released an update for the SK10Y that allows you to adjust the center channel volume level. To perform the software update you will need the LG Wi-Fi Speaker Application. Once in the app you will click on settings, the Software Version Information and then you will need to select Update. Please ensure the sound bar is not powered off while the update is in progress. The sound bar will automatically reboot when the update has completed. OK but not impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First I will say right out of the book this looks impressive. At 57” wide I thought I’d had found the right bar for my living room. I will say I bought this without demoing it in the store due to the LG display section not working. Bought solely off review websites. After hooking this sound at up I was eager to get it going. First up do the firmware update. After about 5 min of updating I was ready to roll. Put on Pandora to test out the music. Wasn’t too bad. Good sound but was lacking in the deep bass. Thought maybe that was just pandora as it runs a little quieter when compared to Amazon or Apple. However music sounded good and was crisp. Moved on to movies and this was where I was extremely let down. In regards to the quality of sound from the sound bar itself I don’t really have any complaints. The sound from the sub however is where this package fell flat on its face for me. It was virtually nonexistent. Another issue I had for this bar was the only way to get any amplified sound would be to turn the auto volume on. With this feature off the volume would have to be maxed out to hear anything. Conclusion I wouldn’t recommend this product for the price.

No Go For Movies!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love this soundbar but the rumors are true, the voice/dialogue almost gets muted during suspense or action packs scenes. Yes I did the firmware update and even increased the center speaker to the max 6 and I didnt even notice a difference. For regular TV and Music this bar performs well. The dolby atmos effect is spot on you can really feels things around you but again the dialogue quits out. I tired every top dolby atmos movie from Ready Player One etc and it all the same. I wanted to keep this soundbar but at this price point who knows if LG can even fix this MAJOR ISSUES with a firmware update. I doubt it because it would have been address in the first firmware update but all that did was give your ability to increase center speaker which did nothing like I said. So I had to return it a look at other dolby atmos sound bars such as Sony and Samsung.

Disappointing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just purchased this with a new LG OLED 65" TV. We were excited to get things set up. We must be missing something?!?! At this price point, we expected a superior sound. The EQ adjustments barely make a difference. The subwoofer provides little base; just enough base to confirm the box is operating. In the store, we were sold on the center channel adjustment but there is little to no difference between the -6 value and the +6. The $150 Toshiba system we had prior to this purchase was hands down, a far superior sounding product. Disappointing!

Excellent Drivers with Poor Vocals/Dialogue
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.INTRODUCTION: LG SK10Y is touted as the top of the line Soundbar of 2018 from LG. The Meridian partnership was meant to take aim at audiophiles and folks that want a little more than just movie watching from their Soundbars. As an audiophile myself, I was extremely eager to explore the british Hi-Fi company's contribution to LG. LOOKS: The item is very large and heavy. One should ensure that they have adequate space to accommodate this monster on their media space. The surface of the Soundbar is finished very well and the materials used consistently remind you that this is an expensive product. SOUND: This is fairly subjective topic. I'll break this down into Two subparts based on how most consumers use it. - MUSIC - With the right settings; such as the Music Preset and Standard preset with sufficient adjustments on the Treble and Bass, the speakers sounded terrific. Remember, the Meridian's audio tuning contribution is ONLY effective on the "Standard" preset setting. Since you are paying for the "Meridian" name, you might as well use this preset to take advantage of it. That being said, I was more than impressed with the overall soundstage for Music. Audio tracks sounded very wide and open. There was generous instrument separation. You will be hard pressed to find another soundbar sound this well for Music. - MOVIES: This is marketed as a 5.1.2 setup. The rear speaker duties are handled by the main Speaker unit. Hence adding the rear speaker kit will not contribute much in "Standard" audio mode. I have added the rear speaker kit (SPK8-S) in hope that it would take over the Rear speaker duties from the main sound unit and transfer it to the actual rear speakers. However that went in vein when I figured LG will not use the Rear speakers as actual rear speakers. In order to use it, one would have to force "Movie" or "Bass Blast" preset; which enables the rear speakers to work at all times. This muddies the overall sonic quality at times. In essence, the speakers do not work as a standard AVR receiver setup would in a normal home theater environment. As for the Overall sonic quality, this is where this soundbar is a major let down. The FX and the Bass was fantastic. However the Dialogue or Vocals as you may know it is suppressed to the point where you can't comprehend what the characters on the screen are talking about. The vocals will phase in and out as if they are moving behind your television and then coming back frequently. No amount of fiddling with the setting has remedied this issue. I have grown accustomed to asking "What did she/he say again?" constantly, only to find that the other movie watchers are suffering the same fate as well. The firmware update which added the much needed "center Channel" volume adjustment did not help resolve this either. So here we are in 2019, with the top of the line Soundbar from LG from recent past, completely abandoned during it's Warranty period. As of today, LG is yet to remedy this issue. LG, if you are reading this, here is an opportunity to make it right. This is an expensive investment to ignore. The Soundbar itself has plenty of potential; but held back by it's software. Instead of ignoring the (not so) past product and setting a negative image for your company, you should sincerely investigate the issues at hand and remedy it for your loyal users. It has almost been an year since the inception of this product; and taking this long to fix a troubled product does not look very hopeful on the end consumer's eyes.

I just want them to work!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all when these work they are amazing. I mean I literally hear things behind me but there are no rear speakers, it’s pretty cool. However, the subwoofer keeps cutting in and out every minute, it’s so annoying. I’ve looked online and they just say that wireless networks can conflict with. Really? It’s a wireless speaker system that connects to your wireless network for updates but conflicts with wireless? The subwoofer is right under the sound bar and the wireless router is 10 feet away on the other side. There is no way this should be having issues. I guess I need to return them. If only they would work all the time I would love these.

No Disappointments
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recommend downloading the LG Wi-Fi app to find all the features once you purchase it. The app allows you the full range of options. The app volume controller is very touching and can quickly crank high if you're not careful. To be honest, Dolby Atmos is just in its infancy, so most of your tests would be on YOUTUBE or Netflix.

Sounds decent but has software issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a decent sounding bar, but is way overpriced. The preset equalizer settings are awful. Movie setting sounds great, but as soon as there is any action going on it basically cuts out all dialogue. So I have to use the bassblast setting which actually has way less bass that the movie setting and isn't great. The sub lacks bass but sounds good at times. Im guessing this is all due to poor software programming.

OK, but no HDMI ARC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this after returning a competitor’s soundbar for what I thought were HDMI ARC compatibility issues with my LG tv. I thought buying an LG soundbar would be the answer, but it was not. The ARC connection was erratic, wouldn’t hold the chosen input. LG support was no help. I’ve since seen reports that LG’s ARC is unreliable. So don’t waste your time, be content with the optical connection.

Newest firmware still can NOT control center
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The newest firmware still can NOT control the center channel, as of Jul 15, 2018. I want to throw in my input. I want both 4k and Atmos together and the channels set for the room. Easy, surround is working. I updated to the newest firmware, but I can not control the center channel separately. I do not have the muffled voice channel issues others reported months ago. Additionally I'm recieving an echo, a delay because the Atmos upfiring speakers' delay settings are not configurable. It's not the TV's sound because that is turned off. Each room is different, but this setting needs to be open up for better customization. Next, I cannot get Netflix from TV to confirm Atmos output, showing only 5.1, via optical and HDMI-arc. I have a Samsung UN60JU7090F. I'm considering returning this. Perhaps I need to buy a 4k dongle to stream thru the soundbar's 1 of 2 inputs, then output back to my TV. I have a PS4, but it's not 4k. I want both 4k and Atmos work together and be setup for the room.

DSP Issues Never Truly Addressed...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In follow-up to my rather detailed TIN review, I've been working with LG to obtain support and remedy for the faulty operation of this sound bar within the 1 year warranty period. LG no longer supports this product, so even at a highly discounted $650 price, it's simply not worth it. The single firmware update LG did provide in the summer of 2018 added a center channel control that does not rectify the issue... and in fact, it makes overall operation worse - as Object Oriented sound (with respect to dialog in this particular case...) doesn't rely solely on center channel positioning. It's also interesting that the Dolby Atmos and 'Movie' modes of operation behave the exact same way in the new 2019 SL10 sound bar. This points to some serious design issues coming from the LG engineering team. I recommend prospective buyers demo the Samsung or Sony sound bars - as they decode Atmos sound-fields correctly.
