Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this tv for $499.99 Black Friday special. It''s replacing a 42" eight year old plasma which has now been moved to the bedroom (also a great TV). This is what I was looking for, a TV for watching TV. Imagine that! Using a TV to watch TV! Great picture and great price. Can't say much about sound because I don't use the tv speakers I feed the sound through my sound system. The main negative in other reviews is the 60 hrz native thing. Is it really an issue if the only way you learn about it is by reading the manual? If you are looking for a 55" tv to watch tv you can't go wrong with this one. If you are looking for a smart tv or 3D then this is not the tv for you - don't buy it and then complain that it's missing these features!

Great LED TV for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For this BF, I was looking for a basic 50''+ TV around $500 price range( Not a big fan of Smart and 3D features). There were only lesser known brands were available in that price range, so when I saw LG TV for this price, I jumped on it right away banking on LG brand name. There were no reviews for this model. But it was a good call for me. Setting up the TV was straight forward!. It took 10-15 minutes to play with different settings to get the right picture. Connected Chromecast and casted few NetFlix movies. Checked out my Avatar BlueRay Disc. Picture quality is excellent. Sound is fine, but could be better. Overall, a great buy for the features, picture quality and of course at $500, this is a Steal!. I would recommend this TV.

Excellent TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought for $499 online during Black Friday. A 55" LG for that price is an excellent deal! TV delivered to the house with no noticeable damage. It was so much bigger than I anticipated and that made me giddy. Great picture quality. Just wonderful. Still patting myself on the back for managing to snag this wonderful deal before it was sold out. A bit difficult to connect the base stand with the TV. Had to place it upside down on the couch and that helped a lot. The sound is good, but not excellent. It does not have that BOOM BOOM BOOM feel. However there are different sound modes you can try: Standard, Music, Cinema, Sport, Game. Different Aspect Ratio available to choose from. Picture modes available: Standard, Eco, Cinema, Game, Expert 1, Expert 2, Vivid. In the Settings, you can also customize Backlight, Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Color, Tint, Color Temperature and so many othe roptions. Has a USB port. Plugged one in and viewed a few pictures and listend to a few songs just to test it out. Works wonderfully, however they should design a better media player. I still can't figure out where the shuffle is. Is there even one? TL;DR Great Black Friday price. Not easy to set up. Excellent TV picture quality. Average sound. Big TV. Many options in settings. 4.5/5 stars.

Worth Every Penny
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worth Every Penny. Being Elite Plus Customer, I got early access to door-busters online. I bought this TV for a very good deal $550 buck. A 55 inch LED for $550 is definitely a great deal. Amazing picture quality. Though it's not a SMART TV, I bought Apple TV and able to access HBO GO & NETFLIX.

Black Thursday
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this T.V. despite reviews. I am on Social Security so I took the chance that I am tech savvy and could adjust the features. My wife and I wall mounted this T.V. It took 4 screws/washers that did not come with it. We also had to purchase a additional "optical" cable for my Denon/Klipsch system because the T.V. does not use RCA jacks for surround sound. NOW: The first adjustment to brighten the picture was to "shut the energy saver off." We then adjusted the picture setting to "vivid." Adjusted the contrast and sharpness and then put a blue ray in to test it. This T.V. is awesome if adjusted right. Otherwise it resembles a plasma. This T.V. was a steal. I had researched television's for 2 weeks and Best Buy had the best deals if you could get in on them. 10 out of 10. Just be patient and adjust things or ask Best Buy to help you. There customer service is awesome. The regular guy was sick so the G.M. delivered it himself. Thank You Best Buy for a awesome Christmas present.

Very good Model for TV watching
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Note I am a plasma man...so when it comes to LED and LCD I am pretty picky....nothin beats plasmas. in terms of contrast and motion blur...but lets see how this TV does. Black Friday sell...or really Black Thursday for 499. Same panel as the 5400 model. Good Contrast which means good blacks. Colors need to be tweaked so you have to experiment or look online for the right settings. If you just want a basic TV with good screen and a good processor,. LG is the way to go. Other brands like TCL, Sanyo, Westington\\ house, Dynex are not the same grade of quality and I have seen a lot of TV...I mean a lot. You need to look real close at the edge..when its dark..when it shows writing...when it shows fast motion. Yes..this TV does not have Wifi...but big deal. Just hook up a roku or another device and your ready to go. its not a super fancy TV but if you just want to watch regular TV ...well..thats what most folks do anyway. Has enough adjustment settings so you can alter contrast and color and tint and gamma...

can beat it for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this for black friday online early thursday morning. Never would have even looked till 6pm if i didnt get an email from a site. After reading the reviews i understand the 60hz refresh issue but as otheres have said alot of companies do this. It is a 55 inch tv for 500 bux. I am using it for a room where i just want a basic tv. I am getting a different model for a room i watch most of my tv in. And if you dont like it you can just return it. Play with the settings and give it a chance. Trust me even a lot of the so called better tvs have a alot of issues if you do your research so in alot of cases the price doesnt neccesarily mean better quality.

Great buy for any price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. I purchased this tv on Thanksgiving morning on-line. The initial reviews were terrible, however, I did not cancel the order. It was delivered in three days but I had to wait for the Geek Squad because I wanted it mounted above the fireplace. That installation took place on 12/5. Let me tell you the negative reviews were far from reality. The picture is outstanding and going in I knew the sound could potentially be a problem so I invested in a sound bar. Highly recommended. Take advantage of the optical digital audio output. I purchased this tv for $499 but it is a good buy at $899 so if they advertise it again, you should drop everything and buy it. Read through the reviews as there is one person that provides picture settings to optimize quality. I don't recall his name but it is worth finding and following.

Pleasantly surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like most people, I was on the fence with this TV. Either I pay a few hundred more and get a Samsung 46" Smart TV or settle for an LG specially made for Best Buy. I had only owned Samsung TV's so I was skeptical. The box had an Xmas theme, which made me kinda wince when i saw it. Once installed, though, it was clear that I had made the right decision. This is NOT top of the line, but it IS a bargain deal and I'm glad I chose this TV over some of the other Black Friday deals. The 60hz/120hz thing does still bother me. Shame on Best Buy for the false advertisement, but thank you Best Buy for the not so bad false advertisement. The football games were HD enough for me. The footballs didn't turn into squares at any point in the games. The only time I can see a difference is while watching the news. Not as sharp and vibrant as my previous TV's (Samsung). I would recommend to a friend, but the friend probably has to wait another year for a similar deal.

No wifi, not 120 Hz - don't care...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For $499 - no wifi and 60 Hz. Did you check the price? No issues here - dig into the specs of more TVs and you'd be surprised what you find. Spend less than 5 minutes playing with settings - watched most of today blue ray and HD sports - no problems. Guess I knew what to expect for the price...If you wanted bells and whistles, you should have done your homework and be prepared to spend more. I agree BB should have corrected the BF ad; you win some, you loose some. This is a winner. Great TV - go ahead and get it!.

Solid 55" LG and a good buy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kind of stumbled upon this on black Friday. I know that is a specially made tv to Best buy, but I am happy with the deal. It is a good tv with a good picture. I see some people going on about the native refresh rate. As many have already stated it does use software to obtain 120hz. That fine my me. Worked just fine for my use. I bought ours to use as a bedroom TV. It works great for that purpose. It should work well or sports. I have only been able to watch some basketball and it looked pretty good. I can't complain of the overall quality for the price.

Great Picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture using aerial antenna full 1080p. No tweaks or adjustments needed. I do not subscribe to pay tv. Purchased on black friday great price. Remote is good and well laid out. Would like to be able to tweak picture settings as you can only use lg's settings but they are good. Would have liked to have stereo output as it only has optical out. Maybe 3 HDMI two never seems to be enough. This is not a smart TV. But I mosly stream from computer or watch DVD so wasn't important. It does do a good job of upconverting signals. I recommend if you can get it on sale. This can rival any samsung in the same price range. It is better than my 60 Sharp I bought last year.

Did some research
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Based on many other reviews online and actually looking into the manual for this Tv, it is not 120hz as advertised by Best Buy, it's just 60hz. The 51 series was made to be a doorbuster for Best Buy and Walmart. It is still a better than average tv, just not as good as advertised.

Great TV for Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Skeptical to buy another best buy only special on Black Friday after purchasing a 65" Samsung that turned out terrible. This TV is half the price and in my opinion has a much better picture. Picture is good whether your watching regular TV, a movie, or sports. It doesn't have many ports, its not a smart, or 3D but obivously you shouldn't buy it if you are wanting that. This TV is as advertised and well worth the price.

The Great LED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was little worried after ordering this TV, since there were few negative reviews initially about picture quality, refresh rate, etc. I already have Samsung 40'' Smart TV, I must say the picture quality is really great. No issue with refresh rate, no blurring while watching Sports Channels. The only disappointment was USB connection, it can't play movies /videos , only photos and music. I didn't expect that, it should be basic feature of LED TV. But no issue, it can be achieved through streaming player. Overall, really good TV, I m extremely happy I got this deal. Cheers!!!

Looks like this is a 60Hz HDTV - but is that bad?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For those who are curious, it appears that the other reviewers are correct that this is a 60Hz TV. Here is a link to the owner's manual if you want to see for yourself: http://content.abt.com/documents/51300/47LN5200_manual.pdf (Look at page 31) However, I would argue that this is actually better for TV watching as most of us are used to 60Hz. I do agree the description is misleading though, if you were really looking for a 120Hz TV this is not your TV! Best Buy really should fix that.

Very good set nothing fancy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I scored this online as a Black Friday door buster for my Father-in-law to give I his wife. Coming from their previous small set, an not being tech people, I figured this set would be great. I usually buy high end Samsung or Sony. After a few quick picture tweaks using the built in picture wizard, they were super happy. The picture is sharp. Didn't immediately notice anything bad even when watching football. Maybe after some time we will notice, but, so far so good. It may not be a $1000 TV, but at $499 .. Good set.
