Decided to take the leap of going with a 4K TV, but I had to get it with HDR. This is my first time trying LG and I am not disappointed in the slightest. It's amazing quality, even without the soundbar it is fantastic in sound. The picture quality is amazing!! I've used Netflix for 4K and the Phillips 4K to try Creed and Independence Day and WOW!! Honestly, it's spectacular all around. Insanely happy with the purchase!

Some of the reviewers do not want to explore the settings on this model. That is why they rate it poorly. If you take your time and adjust them, you will find the screen is not dark at all in a dark room. The settings took a while to adjust for my liking. I have NEVER found any TV that I purchased have perfect setting right out of the box! By the way, I got this as an open box from Best Buy and they had a smoking deal (over $450 off) to move this unit. I would have bought it even if it was not an open box item. I do not think you can go wrong with this TV.

Amazing, had Full LG 1080P 120HZ Previous 48"

So far so good, I pray it delivers like my last three LG 50" HDTV's over the last ten years, all high end like this. It's amazing. I also paired it with Monster and Rocketfish 2.0/3.0 HDMI HDR 4K cables and the latest Samsung 4K UHD HDR Player (the only one made currently)! The pairing once tuned to desired specs is unparalleled. There are things like sunlight and rain across the screen that never showed in previous viewings. I got a few 4K UHD HDR Blu Rays like The Martian and Mad Max Fury Road, wow! They are perfect, the upscale of my Blu Rays are near the same quality which is refreshing that I need not replace all my collection to 4K discs, just start investing now and for favorites. Overall I gave it a five currently, hoping it holds its quality and longevity like my previous. LG is quality, usually, so hope so. Otherwise I'd say overall this is the best 55" I've seen in store and online and the price is outstanding. You can easily get into every thing you need for the latest 4K UHD HDR 240HZ for under 1500 on sale, this includes a few of the latest movies. I had to replace my aging sets so timing was spot on. It's expensive but truly worth it and overall not gouging to get all at that price, as long as the units hold up. This set also has 10 and Dolby Digital and HDR which is unusual, a lot of the sets only have one or the other I'm seeing. The store near me put them on sale 300 off, fifty sets (full stock) sold in the week, crazy price, the player was also 85 off, also good.

Wow! All I can say about this tv. I probably returned 3 tvs during Black Friday because I thought I was getting the best deal. Do your research first and figure out what you need as far as specs. You get al specs needed with this one and couldn't pass up the price at $600+gift card

    Didn't meet expectations.

I kept this TV for 24 days. In that time, i adjusted many settings to find a a picture setting I liked most. However, I could never get this TV to have a consistent picture in color or clarity. Don't get me wrong, the picture can be amazing. For example, I was able to find picture settings to allow my local news channel to appear crystal clear. However, during the news, the small box window of news clips would break up so bad it was hard to see a persons face. The same with a lot of older TV programs. I know these are not 1080, but they should be viewable. Instead any non HD feed was broken up and splotchy to the point the picture almost seemed blurred. My primary issue was on the darker screens where there was black and white only. I could never stop the TV from showing what i call "curtains". If the screen was black and there were 2 sections of letters, then there was a white curtain from top to bottom in the section of the letters. The black sections on the sides of those white "curtains" had varying shades of black "curtains". It was something that I could never correct with the settings no matter how much I adjusted. Movies from my Apple TV looked great. That is until the screen showed up where the spinning disk was in the middle. Then the curtains showed up again. I returned this TV and got the Samsung UN55KS8000FXZA. I did not have the curtain issue with this model and have been very happy with it. If you do have this TV model, I would recommend the following settings as a starting point. Feel free to try this and then adjust to your own preference. These settings gave the best picture I could achieve. Maybe you will have better luck than I did. Please note that I've owned multiple LG TV's and all my kitchen appliances are LG. So, I am a fan of the brand. I had high expectations for this TV, but it just didn't quite meet them. LG Vs Vizio

I have purchased many TVs over the course of my life and this is the most wonderful one yet! I actually purchased and returned a 50" Vizio P Series TV and I thought that one looked wonderful (I just hated the tablet)! The pictures are so crisp and vibrant, even when watching 1080p content. I purchased both a PS4 Pro and an Xbox One S (one for games and one for a nice 4k Blu-ray Player) and they both look FANTASTIC on the screen. I had to do a little tweaking to make the picture look perfect, but I'm so happy with my purchase. I've always been a Vizio guy, but now I am certainly leaning more towards LG for my future TV purchases.

I definitely was a bit skeptical about buying an LG tv. Everyone I know loves Samsung or Vizio. I purchased this TV and could not be more happy. The WEBOS system is way better than any other smart tv functionality I've used, including my LED Samsung Smart TV for my bedroom. LG has a life long TV customer.

At $799. I think this is the best value out there. LG has been on forefront of TV. Besides the great display that is 4K. I am very much surprised how good the sound system is (kardan & harmon). I don't even think I need a sound bar system in my room. I chose this because HR240. So far Im loving it.

    Mediocre at best

I had high hopes for this TV after reading so many good review here and other sites. A good known reviewing site had given a not so good review on this TV, but I refused to believe it, after so many people here liked it so much. I returned a 2016 Samsung KU6300 I initially purchased because it was flickering, showing a black screen at random times, and sometimes would even turn off by itself. So I decided to spend some more and shoot for a mid range level TV, expecting to see at least some improvement. After getting this LG TV home my first reaction was positive. Colors seemed a little smoother and brightens seem adequate. But after about 30 minutes of watching and playing with the settings, realized that the backlight was already maxed out, which means that this screen wouldn't be able to compete in a bright room, so opening any windows in the house would be out of the question. In addition, blacks will never go deep enough for my taste, and when did, using the local dimming feature, it would show some pretty strong halo glowing around anything bright, creating some weird looking bars, and even then, black levels were not impressive. In addition, I couldn't get the contrast to a level where blacks wouldn't eat all the information in the shadows. In short, it looks like the TV software needs some serious revamping as far as color and contrast management is concerned. Technically it may be a great TV with great LCD panel in theory, with Wide gamut colors, IPS and all, but in real life use it looks too dark and the black levers are mediocre. LG needs to spend more time studying the implementation of such nice panel. I think they can make it a lot better. At this price price range it should look a lot better. I ended up going back to the Samsung KU6300, and wow, this TV really looks amazing! And the user experience navigating trough menus, setting things up, and using the remote is so seamless. In my opinion is sort of like comparing a clogged Operating System versus something like Mac OS. The Samsung feels like an Apple product, clean and satisfying to use, and color management is the best I've seen so far.

Bought a Sony 55" and after a lot of service calls, lookup reviews of this tv and so I bought it. (Returned Sony) I sure am glad I did. Colors and pic are great to view. I would advise that u upgrade your hdmi cables also. I had old cables and the screen turned Pink, talked to greek squad and found out the cables were to old. Bought new up greaded cables and all is good.

I bought this based on so many positive LG reviews online that I had read. I did not like the smart interface very much, it was difficult to navigate and I thought the remote control was nothing special. Setup was not that hard but tweaking the picture settings to something I liked was tedious. In the end, I returned it for a Sony 850 TV instead which seems to have a better picture and the smart interface is way easier to navigate.

Okay, so I just got the TV home last night. Picture looks pretty good, particularly with 4k content of course. Setup was pretty easy but I feel it's not as intuitive for more advanced settings as other OS I've used. It's a nice upgrade over my Samsung plasma but there are a few issues that may make me return it. First problem is that the ethernet port on the back is defective and does not work with any cat5 cables I have. We'll see what happens with that. Second problem is that it does not have HBO Go or Now available on the TV. Probably going to be a deal breaker for me but I guess I should have checked that before buying. Third issue is that the OS is really good with the LG remote but doesn't work well with Logitech Harmony remote. Lastly, I've noticed an intermittent buzzing noise when the room is quite coming from behind the TV. So it's not looking good right now for this TV. Probably going to be returned to the store.
