Best tv I've ever owned
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I had to save four things in a house fire, they'd be my two kids, my wife and this tv. I probably could too because it is so lightweight. This replaced a 10 year old plasma, and picture quality watching just regular Blu Ray is is a whole new ballgame. Watching Planet Earth II on Netflix 4k was mind blowing. This model is just a step below the OLEDs but a lot more affordable. This is a smart TV but I already had a streaming Blu Ray player and cable box with several useful apps (Netflix, YouTube etc) so those features aren't that useful at least for me. Wish you could just buy a non smart TV for cheaper but they're probably here to stay. Bought it during the Memorial Day sale for 20% off and then the next week it was even cheaper. Went in to Best Buy and got my price adjustment no problem. I can't recommend this tv highly enough. If you stumble across one of these for $600 or less don't hesitate to buy it.

Excellent TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Researched tvs and decided on this 8000 series 55 in LG uhd 4k smart tv. One of the biggest considerations was the refresh rate because I wanted one as good as my Panasonic Plasma I was replacing. This tv does it all and more. Chose the 8000 series instead of the 9000 tv with all the bells and whistles. Clarity, color and refresh rate is excellent and even the sound quality is very good. Great for watching sports.

Almost perfect...almost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just upgraded from a 1080 HD 42" Panasonic to this 55" 4K UHDTV. What an amazing upgrade. So very easy to set up. Hooked up cable, a sound bar and new blue ray player. Simple on screen instructions walked me through setup. The picture is really, really good. The only fault is that it is not full array and yes, when there is a lot of dark/black on the screen, it's not perfectly black. However, that being said, football is awesome. No blurs at all, the 4K is awesome (watched Avengers in 4K UHD). The sound is really good (it is just a tv after all, not a home theater system). The remote is a little unusual, but after a few minutes of playing around, it's good. I like that the remote controls the cable box, don't need the Cox remote anymore but keeping it just in case.

Awesome Tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the tv for Christmas. The picture quality is outstanding right out of the box. I was please how easy the setup was for this smart Tv. The tv itself talked me through the setup. The 120 refresh rate makes a difference for this 55in, at least for me it does. Very happy with this purchase.

Great tv, features coulton use some tweaks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tv about a month ago. The screen is really nice and bright, it sounds good. And it's great while I'm playing games. The only drawbacks that I've noticed have to do with the smart assistant interface/integration and limited customization in key features. -I can not connect the tv to my google home app, and because of this I can not issue commands to my other products using the built in assistant, this is an issue which many owners have complained about but when asked in the forums gets no reply from LG. -whenever I ask to play a specific show on netflix, instead of just playing the show it generates a list. I would be fine with that if I had asked to list shows but it creates a 2 step process when chromecast and my google speaker has already spoiled me to not needing my remote or phone when I know exactly what I wanna see. -there is no youtube music app... google owns youtube and this seems like an obvious addition that should be made soon - the tv has a built in music player which is useless to me personally as someone who pays for youtube as I stream music... I would like to see the music player have the capability added to select a source such as youtube music, spotify, or pandora. Instead of music stored in my local network. Since I dont download any music as I'm sure many of us dont anymore. But all those things are just extras... I bought a tv... and as a TV... GREAT!

LG - 55" Class - LED - SK8000 Series HDR UHD
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV was overall a good buy. Pros: You get a bunch of free channels with LG TV Plus. Google assistant is cool, hook it up to your TV to control certain functions. Quick Netflix and Amazon Prime buttons. Lets you know when an hdmi comes online (can switch via voice). Magic Remote is all around cool. Cons: The only issue I've had with it is you get multi tone darkness when the screen goes all the way black. Like when Netflix loads for instance, the black behind the Netflix logo will be noticeably lighter than the black at the far left and right edges of the screen. This isn't a huge deal, and only happens in complete darkness. The LG google assistant was a bit confusing to setup. It requires 2 different setup routes. You setup LG, then 'Ask LG' as well. I've had to re-setup the magic remote twice because it forgets how to do stuff. Like all the buttons stopped working.

Super TV within its class
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited long for this TV to price itself better than what it used to be. This is the best TV I have seen and the best in class just below the OLED's which are crazy high priced. I had a Samsung and one fine day the picture just died on my. I still hear it like a zombie if I switch it in .. hahaha Right out of the gate it was easy to set up the TV. Clarity is amazing. and when compared to the Samsung FRAME TV, this has a Gallery Mode which has much better features (its free unlike S'ung where we need to pay for the pictures, and if there is a NO INPUT the LG automatically switched to Gallery Mode) No need for ROKU anymore since most of the APP, like Netflix, Prime, Sling, all are available directly. It also has its own set of Local Channels. So no need for Cable TV. I connected a indoor antenna and receive the locals clear + LG offers its 30+ channels all FREE. Also, after I bought this TV on one of the Sales, the price then came back up and still remains higher. So its a good feeling when your purchased products price goes up and maintains higher :) Oh and.. the remote has Google/ Alexa Assistant, so I can just speak to it.

Great TV - What a step up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally went in just looking to upgrade to 4K with HDR from my previous TV. I didn't expect to walk out with a flagship model that isn't OLED. For the longest time, I wanted OLED, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money - I really wanted 4K HDR and Dolby Vision, though. I had been eyeing this TV for a few months, and I happened to catch it when it was on sale at such a good enough discount that I jumped on it. I'm not sorry I did. Watching content in Dolby Vision is amazing. This TV is the next best thing to OLED, in my opinion. No, it doesn't come close to the black levels, and in a dark room, you will notice it as more of a gray tone, but it overcomes that by making the rest of the picture brighter, and it is super crystal clear. I'm very happy with this TV purchase and I'm looking forward to watching it for years to come. My last TV was an LG Plasma, and it's still working well to this day, 8 years later. I trust them, and really love their panels. Definitely a premium experience.

Generally good TV, but variable back light isn't
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good starts with the general appearance, thin profile, and familiar (to me) WebOS for using YouTube TV, Hulu, and more. I find the Wii like remote very effective for quicker navigation of menus and with minimal use of remote buttons. I find I only use the pointer, the roller, the back, home, and settings buttons that are all centered around the roller and click to choose button. The scroll wheel works well to surf over the air channels. The pointer works well to directly access choices in the UI including in apps. And the Google Assistant integration is convenient. I like to be able to ask questions while watching a program. The bad is really only one thing. The variable backlight shows severe banding that is very distracting. Fortunately, you can turn that off, albeit it is a pretty deeply buried option. At first, the variable backlight and the promise of higher contrast were appealing, and it looks good on many shows, but I just could not stand the banding effect on credits and some other content where there the banding is very evident and artificial.

Excellent TV and glad I pulled the trigger.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to finally replace my plasma (which still has an amazing picture) with a 55" LED and was torn between this TV, the Samsung NU8000, and the Sony 900F. I'm extremely happy with my purchase, especially since it was marked down $100. The picture is fantastic (you do want to turn the energy savings mode off and customize a little), the interface is easy to use, and I love that it is compatible with my Google Assistant. I was able to connect to wifi right away and with no issues whatsoever. The apps load quickly and I'm streaming flawlessly. The remote is very intuitive, not sure why anyone would complain. Last but not least, this set is gorgeous and looks amazing in my living room.

Great Picture for the Price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really love the 4K picture quality with this TV. The HDR settings look great and you get a fantastic picture. The internal speakers needs some tweaking and I suggest getting a sound bar. I took some time to really modify the TV settings. Also had to do a lot of other custom settings to get the best picture. Especially taking off the True Motion type stuff. It really ruins the picture, as the same with almost every TV brand out there. One thing to note when modifying picture and sound custom settings, whatever you set can change from Input to Input or from going from Cable/Satellite to Netflix. This is really annoying. Wish the settings would just change all across the board.

Great Smart TV that won’t break the bank
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this TV on sale and. Must say it’s a great value. Picture quality (4K HDR) is amazing and the smart features (one click YouTube, Netflix, etc) is an great as well. Games in 4K ultra are a plus as well and the same remote is easy use and makes navigation very easy

Great tv for the $$.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it on sale. Had a Samsung plasma that I loved until it started getting horizontal black lines. Though the LG does not have the blacks of the plasma, they are very good for a tv in this price range. Easy remote, good sound and smart features.

Excellent for an LED
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Previous set was an older 55" plasma. It failed, OLED was out of my price range and I needed a television, so I bought this LG open-box / excellent. I really miss the really wide viewing angle of the plasma, but the picture on this set is excellent when viewed head-on. I'm not using any of the internet bells and whistles since my Comcast service has Netflix and Prime apps. Wide range of adjustments to suit anyone's taste including three "professional" presets -- I settled on the Technicolor Labs preset with a couple of tweaks. No comment on the sound as I'm using an external 5.1 system, but I wish they had included a way to use the internal speakers as the center channel speaker -- some manufacturers do that, eliminates clutter. Great deal, fast and free delivery, removed my old set for a reasonable fee, courteous personnel all around.

Nice Television for the Price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not the biggest TV expert, but I'm very pleased with this model so far. Beautiful color, decent sound though I may enhance that in the future. Easy to use remote, and no problems in the first few weeks of use.

Great value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally selected an entry-level TV but did more research and bought at this price point. The reason to buy into the mid-range with 4k TVs is to get a better CPU and more HDR-decoding algoritms (you'll want Dolby Vision). The first hopefully eliminates any judder and the second future-proofs your 4k viewing experience. This TV has a great viewing angle. The darks aren't as great as some of the competition but the ones I was considering didn't have both of the options I mentioned above. The WebOS interface is very intuitive and easy to use. The picture will look terrible out of the box, so find a website (rtings is a good one) to help with that setup. I'm watching Netflix in 4k Dolby Vision as I write this and it looks great. One a side note, I kept my Roku box and normally use that for 1080p viewing. Read up about privacy concerns with Smart TVs.

There's Good and Not So Good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can you really complain about a 4k picture? No. Getting there as the issue. There is a Youtube video on how to set it up but that's for geeks. Best Buy will dial it in for you for a lot of moola. However you do it the results are great. But the forever complaint that can not go away is it is an LED. Being a plasma guy and use to watching from almost any angle in the room without picture distortion this, and nearly every other available TV today, I remain disappointed with all the manufactures. Perhaps I'm sitting too close to the set and I should do something about that. All that being said I really do like this unit. Short of going to OLED or QLED this is really a fine TV.
