very very dim

It was very easy to unpack, assemble, and set up. Then I turned it on, and it honestly was so dim. Dimmer than my 12 year old tv that I was trying to upgrade and replace. Tried adjusting the brightness, contrast, etc. Nothing. It's going back, and I'm upgrading to QLED.

Picture good if you can get it to stay connected..

Approximately every 14 minutes it loses internet connection. Very frustrating. And, of course, it's not compatible with Apple TV, but that's just an aside. We would not recommend.

2 years and audio issues

It’s happening on all apps; YouTube, YouTubeTV, Netflix and Amazon. We’ve gone down the path of seeing if it’s our internet provider and it’s not.

What a rip off, I'm trying to get rid of it until I buy a Samsung Qled

Fine Picture. Bad SmartTv interface.

The LG SmartTV application is terrible. It would regularly close out of apps and doesn’t have a great selection of apps. Luckily, I was able to get this on sale. If I had paid full price, I’d likely return the TV.

Price drops

I set the TV up 3 weeks later when our electric fireplace arrived and then went online with a question about setting it up and it was $100 cheaper. Today I checked and it's $160 cheaper. If you wait till May, they'll be paying people to take them. I am 67 years old and live on a fixed income. Best Buy only "price guarantees" for 15 days. I hadn't even opened the box in 15 days!! I have no idea as to whether I have it set up correctly or not because the one page set up guide is very vague......I have to use my cable remote for channels, and the TV remote for volume..... Their pricing policies have taken all the excitement out of this purchase. I am looking for a soundbar to match the TV, but I think I will be looking elsewhere for that.

You can see the local dimming doing it’s work and it’s just horrible. Had to exchange it for a different TV.

Great Smart TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Best Buy intending to buy a VIZIO smart TV but learned that the stand was too wide for the piece of furniture I wanted to set it on. I checked out the SK8000PUA 55" and found its base would work fine for what I needed. I spent some time talking to the salesperson who owns one of these tv's, then did a little bit of research on LG TVs. I was satisfied with what I read and decided to take one of these home and try it out. Best Buy gives you 14 days to try out a TV - if you don't like it, you can return it for a full refund. I am very happy with the TV. The picture is excellent, and the speakers sound pretty good for what they are. What I REALLY like about the TV is all the apps that are built in. We get our TV from Hulu Live and I was very pleased to find that a Hulu app is built in, and I did not have to buy another device (like an Apple TV) just to be able to stream live TV. In addition to Hulu, it has apps for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Youtube, a Web Browser and several other apps that I don't have a use for, but are there if I need them. The tuner works very well for local broadcast stations. To get a strong enough signal for local broadcast stations I use an amplified external antenna that I bought at Best Buy several years ago. I find that the local broadcast signal is inconsistent depending on the weather and the time of year. That is not the fault of the TV though, I had the same problem with the VIZIO TV I had before this LG. The remote is very intuitive and I didn't even need to take the time to read the manual to see how to use it. You have multiple options for adjusting the picture quality and the sound quality. One feature I really like is the ability to stream the audio via Bluetooth to my stereo receiver. The sound quality through my stereo is OUTSTANDING. There is no problem with the Bluetooth signal breaking up. I read all the reviews here before buying the TV and even though some people were critical of the TV I decided to try it anyway - there were lots of positive reviews that gave me confidence buying the TV. I can say that I am 100% satisfied with the picture and sound quality of this TV. The variety of built in apps saved me from needing to buy an Apple TV or some other kind of streaming device. The only criticism I have of this TV is that it loses the Bluetooth connection when you turn the TV off. Each time I turn it on, I have to go to the sound menu and tell it to sync up with the Bluetooth receiver. It's an annoyance, but would not keep me from buying the TV again!

Not very good TV

Very limited selection of apps the picture is WAY to dark and was not able to adjust no matter what tried had a six inch wide rectangle that went from the top to the bottom that was a different shade so it already have pixel issues. Best Buy was very supportive and offered to exchange and even test the new one in store but since I had seen other reviews with Pixel concerns(after purchase unfortunately) decided to just do a return and get a different brand. In short TV terrible please don't waste your money Best Buy excellent for there support in return

Worst experience

The light dimming is so obvious and annoying. Makes the tv look like a cheap tv. The wifi is also horrible. I even brought the router next to the tv and it would still detect low signal. I don’t have that issue with the rest of my streaming devices. The apps were another issue. They would ask to be updated I would click to update them and they would just show a blank screen. Left that blank screen for 10mins hoping it would update the app, but nop the tv even turned off from no activity. I had to return. Do no purchase
