I went to Best But looking to replace the 40 inch television in our basement great room with a 55 inch 4k tv. Our main tv is a 65 inch 4k Sony tv purchased 4 years ago. I read every tv review site for a week before shopping. The location for the new tv dictates that viewing angle is important. Until looking at sites like Rtings.com I was unaware how drastically picture quality degrades at an angle from dead center, even for some very expensive TVs. The best TVs for picture quality and wide angle viewing are the OLEDs. I had convinced myself to buy an older model LG OLED which I had seen on sale for $1500. Of course it was sold out for 250 miles from my location when I got to Best Buy. The least expensive model in stock was about $2300, more than I could justify. I looked at the lower end Samsung QLEDs (which have great pictures but viewing angles are still not nearly as good as the OLEDs). The Q6 and Q7s did not have full array dimming and were still expensive. The Best Buy sales person suggested I look at the LG 55SK9000PUA which has nano cell display, 4k cinema HDR, Dolby Atmos and Full Array Dimming. I purchased for about $1200 and received a $100 Best Buy gift card. I am very happy with my purchase. The display, especially with 4k video or Blu-ray is incredible. In my eye it is every bit as sharp as the OLED or QLED at a fraction of the cost. The viewing angle ratings are not quite as good as OLED but much better than almost all LED TVs I considered. The sound is also very good. So much so, that I did not feel the need for a sound bar. One of the review sites said that blacks were not as good for this TV in a dark room. I feel the blacks are outstanding, much better than expected. I do not use a cable box on this TV but use a Roku plus to stream the Spectrum app. By the way, the magic remote for the TV is great. I love the pointing feature. I haven’t used the voice Google assistant yet. I highly recommend this TV if you want a crystal clear picture at much less cost than OLED or QLED.

When watching on a 4K, many shows that are not 4K could be better as they are grainy. Not enough shows in 4K.
