Better value for $ than C8
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks just as good as the C8, you will barely notice the difference. Speakers are not as good, would recommend having a sound bar with this. Great choice to get into the OLED market

Excellent TV, should've listened to the sales guy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So let me say first the product is great. The LG worked great out of the box and the UI was smooth as can be. Ports were located in convenient places which make routing cables easy. The sale process was easy and staff were super helpful. I wished I listed to the sales guy and got new HDMI cables. I found the ones I had were inadequate and I couldn't get a picture out of my chromecast ultra.

Outstanding UHD/HDR Television
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to upgrade my TCL 55” 5 series (good TV) to a premium UHD TV. In my search for the TV that suited my watching habits and needs I relied heavily on RTINGS.com web site. The final choices were between Sony X900F, Samsung Q9FN, and the LG B8. I went with the LG B8, and could not be happier. My current set-up is with a Sony AV 5.1 receiver, Spectrum digital cable box, OTA antenna, and Xbox One X gaming console. My TV viewing usage is about 40% cable programming, 30% Netflix streaming (HD, 4K UHD & Dolby Vision) thru Xbox X and the remaining 30% gaming. I was concerned with and did take into consideration the long term performance of this OLED due to the risk of possible permanent image retention. My TV viewing habits do not include many programs with a lot of static content. The exception is some of the video games. I am aware of this and cautious of which games have such static content and adjust my continuous play time accordingly. I also use the built in protections on the B8 such as screen shift and pixel refresher. So far I have not observed any issues with image retention. In addition, I have not noticed any color tinting, banding or dirty screen effect at all. Even so, I purchased the protection plan offered by Best Buy, just in case. The setup of the TV was simple, quick and easy. I used calibration settings for the B8 as recommended by RTINGS.com for this model. Most of these settings worked well for most types of content viewing, except for gaming, which required a few additional settings. The B8 is performing impressively well in every usage. It is great for movie watching in both SDR and HDR content. For example, I recently viewed the movie Black Panther, from a 4K UHD blu-ray disk thru my Xbox X. The B8 was outstanding in my dark living room. The picture quality is also great for streaming UHD movies and shows on Netflix. The TV displays perfect blacks and has great image uniformity. The B8 has excellent motion handling for fast moving content like in the action movie I mentioned above and sports. Along with the excellent HD picture, excellent UHD performance, and very effective HDR, an almost unlimited viewing angle, the TV supports Dolby Atmos audio. LG’s updated smart TV platform includes its own voice-enabled ThinQ artificial intelligence platform that works very well. The bundled magic remote works brilliantly. The mouse pointer function makes it supremely easy to navigate the WebOS front end, and switching between apps and sources. The B8 is amazing when playing video games, especially HDR games. It has an excellent low input lag, amazing response time and can support a multitude of resolutions. It is equipped with the black frame insertion feature that will clear blur and make the image look crisper. The real blacks and wide color gamut offer an awesome picture quality when combined with HDR content. Highlights pop, colors are rich and the whole image is vivid and comes to life. In summation, my overall opinion of the LG B8 is that it is an excellent TV. The other TVs I considered are also great TVs, I’m sure. I am very happy with my choice. The design and picture quality is top notch. It’s pictures are gorgeous, and leaves you marveling at the stunningly crisp picture quality. This crispness extends to upscaled non-4K sources also, like my cable box, which enjoy nicely defined edges. If your TV viewing habits do not include a lot of programs with static content displayed for hours at a time, I highly recommend this TV. If image retention is a possibility, you might want to avoid an OLED and choose either a QLED or LED TV.
