    Absolutely superb!!

I love this TV. One of the main criticisms of LG OLED is that details are lost in the dark areas, and upon initial setup I indeed found that to be true...BUT let me tell you, there are enough ways to customize the picture to get it EXACTLY how you want it and completely fix that issue. After Best Buy had installed this TV I played with the settings and had it just perfect for what I liked within about 10 minutes. Another bonus? Each picture mode has it's own settings. You can turn off the "soap opera" effect easily. You can play with brightness, contrast, tint, saturation to your heart's content. If you feel you messed it up and can't remember how it used to be, you can just reset it all. And Best Buy was outstanding through the whole purchase and delivery, even for a picky customer like me. Confession: I initially bought the 65" LG UHD, and when I turned it on I could tell instantly I had made the wrong choice. The edges were dark, especially if you weren't looking at the TV straight on. I went into Best Buy to ask what I could do to return a TV that was too large for me to move. We talked about TVs and what I was looking for and within 10 min I had an appt to get the TV exchanged with this 55 LG OLED. And when I had to change the appointment last minute, a simple update online was all it took. Easy!!

    OLED's Look Great

The TV is 3 Days old as of this review. Take that for what it is. The TV looks amazing. I needed to tweak the settings a little to get it to look the way I like the picture. I am a little frustrated with how the thing seems to be updating daily... The TV has a long turn on time V.S my old Samsung Plasma. I can not speak for the "extras" to much outside that I use my PS4 as the entertainment hub for Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/everything else. If you are planing to use it as a stand alone smart TV it feels lacking vs my PS 4/Fire sticks. Burn in does scare me... I ended up buying the 5 year GSP and would likely extend it after that. Do not let someone lie to you about how burn in is of no issue. If you watch news/play lots of games or anything with static images this is a real concern that you need to prepare for, Get the plan to cover it, and if you are unwilling look at other TV's the QLEDS look fantastic and have no burn in(all thought they seem to be priced higher so id still just get an OLED with the plan. I spoke with the sales person and I think the manager who assured me that it is covered under GSP.

    Beware of the “Burn in”

    Posted .

Like most, I thought I did my homework before purchasing two LG OLED TVs from Best Buy in December of 2016. Unfortunately like others, I’ve become a tv owner of the permanent “burn in” on my 55” OLED. About a month ago I began noticing some color bleed through as I initially described it to the LG customer service. They instructed me to do the Noise Cancelling 25 times plus unplug the tv and hold the power putton on the remote for 30 seconds. Both methods did nothing. So I scheduled an authorized LG tech at a cost of $125 to come to my home. Within five minutes of the tech working on the tv he stated my tv had “Burn in”. He asked me if I watched a specific news program for two plus hours, sports on same channel for multiple hours, or played video games for multiple hours. I stated I watched the morning news for multiple hours and football during the NFL season. The tech proceed to show me how my KTLA channel 5 morning news channel had burned in “Traffic” on the lower left corner and “Weather” on the lower right corner. He continued stating that some news station use bright colors and if a user watches the same channel for two plus hours burn in can permanetly display this on the screen. He said the same can happen with sports with the ticker showing continuous scores and highlights if the tv is left on the same channel. The tech said I can only watch specific channels that uses such bright colors for less than two hours and then I must change the channel to avoid burn in. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! I purchase two top of the line TVs for $5K + and this tech is telling me I can only watch some channels for a few hours, I’ve never heard of something so ABSURD! He said because off the OLED organic technology the tv was sensitive. I said I guess I should’ve bought a Samsung QLED. The tech replied, the OLED has a superior picture quality which I agreed with until my OLED was PERMANENTLY ruined with burn in. I can’t wait to experience the burn in on my 65” OLED! Since I did not purchase the extended warranty my cost would be $900+ to replace the screen. After reading a recent review, I’m glad I didn’t waste my money with the extended warranty because his screen which was replaced by LG after burn it, burned in again 3 months later. Now I understand why only two tv manufactures utilize OLED technology (LG and Sony). Save your money and not get “Burned” (pun intended) by OLED technology and a manufacture like LG who produces such a limited capable product and leaves purchasers beyond the factory warranty with a permantly ruined tv.

If you are in the market for a great TV at an amazing buy then I would recommend this TV. Colors are fantastic and everything just works. Very pleased with this purchase. I was initially looking at the Samsung Q7, but once I saw the power of this TV it was a no brainier. Set up is super easy and the TV is skinnier than a pencil.

This TV is too good for most content

I bought this on sale, and I'm glad I did. This TV is too good for most content available. I have had black friday 4K TVs in the past, but because I have "Gamer eyes" I had a hard time using TVs with super low refresh rates. This TV hasen't disappointed me yet after several months of use. Even lower resolution uses, such as a PS4 without 4K, look amazing on this TV. The color on this TV is amazingly dynamic as well, I know everybody wants to talk about the black level on these things, but RGB contrast on this is amazing. I don't know if this is listed in the specs, but with my PC i was able to get a nearly 120fps refresh rate. When using this TV as a PC monitor you may have to adjust your settings to get the right aspect ratio. My PC will run 4096x2160 resolution with this TV. Overall my favorite TV I have ever experienced. Not just the best one I have owned. Also the bluetooth for headphones is super easy to set up.

I purchased this TV mid 2019, it is now the end of 2022. The only issue I experienced was a broken selector wheel on the remote control, and Bestbuy replaced it. This display is on ALOT! I play PS4 and watch alot of movies. Never had any issues with burn? I see alot of reviews complaining about burn-in, I run this display hard, pause movies, games while cooking and never had an issue. I highly recommend this TV

I have a few 4K TV’s and I never knew that I was not seeing a true black on the screen the picture is awesome and I would have given it 5 stars but I have not had it long enough to rate the long term performance. I am a big scary movie guy and this TV is awesome to watch them on all of the dark scenes are so much cleaner!

3rd LG OLED in 8 years. Meets expectations for up scaling 2K to 4K content for sure. Brightness is better than my 2 previous C models. New processor runs Sling very fast! Break-in 200 hours and see the improvements! New WebOS settings make it easier to calibrate.

    Great picture, poor pixel quality

I love the quality of the HDR 10 I get while playing my Xbox one X on this tv. However the lcd/led panel has dead/ stuck pixels I’ve had the tv two weeks now and the tv did this issue happened day three of owning the tv. I bought the extended warrantee on the tv because it does have a permanent burn in risk which isn’t covered by LG however I didn’t think that it would have dead pixels after playing in 4K HDR10 for two days. Aside from the little blue pixel that illuminates when on darker screens I absolutely love the TV just wish the quality of the LCD/LED panel was a little better. Tv would be a 5 star otherwise

There was a sale on this unit and I had to pick it up since it was so highly rated by consumer reports. The OLED technology is way better than any LED-backlight LCD display out there and really shows amazing color and contrast with 4K video. Highly Recommend

I tried a Samsung mid-range 4k set and it felt like a marginal increased in quality over 1080p. I sold that set and bought this TV and now I feel like I got a 4k upgrade. I rely solely on my Xbox One X and games, movies, Netflix and Hulu all look amazing.

I'M making this review short and sweet. Without a doubt the best picture I have ever seen in my life... Has all the bells and whistles that you need. Even I don't have a problem changing setting to get the best picture from different sources.....I hooked up a Sonos Beam and two Play1 rear speaks, and my set up is complete. Like being at the Theater , except i'm in my recliner....

Pros - Great picture. Was worried about burn in and image retention but the screensaver and LG apps to help this issue seem to work. I also love the remote. Cons - the Wi-Fi is atrocious. While other tech around the tv is getting 250 Mbps this LG tv gets 20Mbps. Had to run a powerline adapter to hook up Ethernet. Even then using the native Netflix app can be painful when watching Dolby vision. Will end up using fire stick to see 4K in Netflix. Also, the screen is glossy so expect reflections if your room isn't dark.

    Burn in problems

This was an excellent tv for about 2 1/2 years, then we started to see shadows on the screen where the closed captioning is located. Now we can't unsee the shadows. Very disappointed since there are so many other great things about our LG OLED. Fantastic picture. So crisp and clear. The very best for watching a movie in a dark room. The magic remote is great. The Web OS system for streaming is easy to use. But...the burn in! It will be replaced soon with a 2022 model, but it won't be an OLED. I've tried all the tricks I've read online to get the burn in to go away with no success. I'm fine with getting another LG, especially with the magic remote, but it will have to be QNED. Or Samsung and TCL seem like viable options. Still shopping.

We bought the TV because was strongly recommended by store associate. Best picture from all TV'S. Unfortunately burns very quickly! First leaves images permanently on the screen then burns on the middle of screen. We had already replaced the screen twice. If you own the TV, don't watch news channels. Never buy again newest product on the market. Those TV'S should be recalled!
