Burn In happens on this Tv

I purchased an LG oled tv in 2017 and the picture was incredible. The absolute best tv I had owned. However, in the last 6 months the main feature is a PERMANENT burn in of a channel logo even though that channel isn't watched much. After purchasing 6 LG tvs, this definitely will be the last due to the burn in that has occured in the red, yellow and magenta backgrounds. Give this tv 2 years and you more than likely will get to experience it also. No gaming was involved in watching this tv either.

    Buyer Beware

Buyer beware! The reliability of today’s state of the art TVs is horrible. 3 out of 4 of my last TVs have failed in less than 2 years. 2 of those were Samsung. Fortunately, I bought extended warranties. After researching other brands and reading how good LGs were, I bought an LG, expecting better reliability than Samsung. I now have an LG OLED55B6P that I bought in Jan 17. I made the mistake of relying on the reviews and not buying an extended warranty. The main board started failing in Sep-Oct 2018 and needs replaced. I have been trying to get it fixed for over a month and still waiting for the authorized repairman to get the part and fix it. There are only two ‘authorized’ repairmen in the Dayton-Cincinnati area. One of them works the Dayton area and one works Springboro to Cincinnati. After the first call to describe the problem, he said I needed a new main board. It would take 2-3 days to get it and he would call and schedule the repair. I asked for an estimate and he said he had to look it up at the office to get a price for the board. After a week with no response, I called back multiple times. Finally got an estimate and I said okay. After another week, no response. I have made multiple follow up phone calls in the past month. When the Dayton area repairman would not respond to the follow-up calls requesting status of parts that were ordered, I tried the other guy. He offered to call the other guy (he knows him), find out what is going on and would call me back....but he never did. He is just as non responsive. Customer satisfaction is not a priority at all. Finally got a call back. Part had been on back order all this time but never called to let me know that. Said part would be in Monday morning and he would call and install that day (now 12 Nov). Never called, never came. I cancelled other appts to be home, took day off too. Two follow up calls, no response. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and the Ohio Attorney General’s office. This is ridiculous. My recommendation...never buy a high end LG or Samsung if you live in the Dayton-Cincinnati area. Go to the brand name website and find out who repairs the brand you buy before you buy it. If it is the same two companies that repair LGs and Samsungs, pick another brand. Or buy TVs you are willing to throw away if they quit functioning because in-home ‘factory authorized’ service after the sale is pretty much non-existent in this area. From now on, I will only buy TVs I am willing to throw away if they fail because I will never use the only ‘authorized’ LG/Samsung repairmen again.

Hey Noah, thank you for your very detailed review. That is terrible to hear. I can definitively understand how frustrating it may be to have your televisions main board failing, and to have the technicians fail to call you back on numerous occasions. Good image, but incompatible HDMI ARC sound

    Posted .

The TV image quality is stunning. But the HDMI ARC connection to receiver (Yamaha in my case) does not transmit Dolby multi-channel audio. So, no ATMOS sound with Netfllix, unless I use optical cable. For such a price one would expect a fully functional product. Disappointing.

This has been a great tv but now it has screen burn in and it’s from casting to the tv. It was not left there so I don’t understand why it’s burned in. If you buy it think twice about casting from other devices.

Excellent picture marred by bad image retention

I'm posting this comment on the 2016 model of this TV as a cautionary message for anyone who might be considering buying the 2018 model. My 55" LG OLED TV (model OLED55B6P) began to exhibit noticeable permanent image retention (burn-in) after less than two years of normal use (~3-4 hours/day of broadcast and cable program viewing). Reviewers on various A/V tech sites seem to be divided on how serious or common this problem is, but in my case it happened and it mars an otherwise beautiful picture.

    Worst TV I’ve ever bought

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I’m going to see if Best Buy will switch this for a Samsung TV. I’ve spent over 1000 dollars on a new TV and this TV won’t even show HBO! LG said they have no agreement with HBO so I can’t watch The HBO app on my TV! What kind of TV can’t even show TV channels! Also, this TV will also not stream devices from my IPad or Android phone! Every time I turn this TV on, the home screen defaults to snow! The remote control shows a pink dot on the screen that does nothing! This is the worst TV I have ever bought. I feel like I have been scammed because I bought a new TV that won’t work with any of my other devices and won’t even show HBO!

Perfect until the 1 yr warranty ended

I purchased this TV in February of 18. It worked perfectly for a little over a year. A few weeks a large green spot appeared on the screen. Of course it is out of warranty and needs a new panel. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this as it is clearly not made to last long. It’s a common problem. LG and Best Buy don’t stand behind their products and have now lost a customer.
