65 inch LG with roku TV, $799, WOW

This has to be one of my better electronic purchases in a while. Price, quality, entertainment enjoyment. Roku installed, no more cables, boxes and sticks. IMHO Roku's interface is so much smother then others, that includes my awesome Sony with Smart Android TV , Google Play and Google Cast. Mirroring tablets and phones through Roku is so cool. I was going Sony 55" again until this LG 65 dropped to $799, Bluetooth Transmitter in headphone jack and I can enjoy amazon prime, netflix, VUDU, etc. all night long via Soundpeats Qy7 and keep the peace. Always enjoyed Samsung, but when the phased out plasma i found LG, Sony and Sammy to be even par. Now i just need to cut the cable cord.

LG has always been my "GO TO" TV for installations. I have never had any issues with any of the LG TV's that I have purchased. LG = Life's Good. That says it all.

I've been researching 65-inch entry level sets for a few months and waiting for the holiday sales. This was exactly what I was hoping for! I've had this set for one week. Initially, I wasn't looking for a smart TV as I have Apple TV and a PS3 for that, but I'm very pleased with the Roku brains in this television. Set up was a snap. The Roku interface is intuitive and responsive and the Roku remote offers one-click access to the TV picture settings so tweaking the settings to your liking is a breeze. The picture is sharp and clear, especially for a budget set. I was worried initially about the basic 60hz refresh rate for viewing sports and Blue Ray discs but my worries were unfounded as little-to-no motion blur is seen when viewing sports and 24fps Blue Ray discs render beautifully from my PS3. Even SD and standard DVD content looks good-far better than I anticipated. This is an upgrade from my 2008 720p 50-inch Panasonic plasma (another great Best Buy purchase that still works fine). The black levels are very good for a budget set-another unfounded worry I had after having a plasma for so long. I highly recommend this set and hope to enjoy it for many years (fingers crossed). At $799 with FREE delivery, set-up AND free removal and recycling of your old set (if needed) this is by far the best deal out there for a 65-inch set that is not a complete no name brand.

This tv has worked great for me. Haven't had any issues and for 500 bucks I think it was worth every penny.

I PURCHASED MY LG POWERED BY ROKU IT SEEMED TO HAVE SOFTWARE COMPANTIBILITY ISSUES FROM THE VERY START. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS OF USE THE TELEVISION THEN STARTED SHUTTING DOWN ON ITS OWN. I RETURNED TELEVISION FOR FULL REFUND. I DID PURCHASE ANOTHER BRAND (SONY) AND I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THAT PURCHASE.

I purchased this television in January 2016 and in August 2018 it stopped working...will not turn on. It is ridiculous to purchase a product that should last 10 years and it ends up lasting less 25% of that. Don't buy LG television!

    Great TV, Poor Remote

For a 65" smart TV this can't be beat in terms of value. The picture is superb and there were no issues setting it up with the Dish receiver and an LG soundbar. My only issue is the remote. I 100% realize that this is a "Roku enabled" TV set but I didn't expect that the only remote included in the box would be the Roku remote. The Roku remote is very simple and it actually works well with the TV. HOWEVER, if you have a universal remote from Dish, DirectTV, Logitech, etc, you may have issues using that remote. I was able to program the Dish universal remote to work with the TV for the most part but I could not get the left and right arrow keys to work at all - even in learning mode (but that is probably an issue with the Dish remote). Nor was I able to get a Logitech Harmony remote to work with this TV because there are (apparently) no discrete codes for input select. If there are I can't find them... so our $100 Harmony is now reduced to scrap and we're stuck using a partially usable Dish TV remote... not happy. Since we also bought an LG soundbar (I stuck with their soundbar on purpose) I was expecting the included Roku remote to control the volume on the soundbar seamlessly... nope - the Up volume button reduces the volume and neither the Down volume nor the Mute button do anything. Fortunately the Dish remote volume and mute buttons work using the LG TV codes. Beware of these "Roku" TVs... if you have a real home theater setup with a universal remote, stay away from this set.

I had been pricing a Sony 75" 1080 TV for weeks. So that's $2098 plus mounting bracket, tax and shipping. I can't justify spending more ($3500) for 4K for a basement TV. Then reality set in; 1080 used to be the "gold standard" when most folks had 720 TVs. I still have my Panasonic 50" 720 plasma from ten years ago in my master bedroom. I saw this 1080 LG on-line for $799. Best Buy doesn't even have it on display anywhere in the store. The Best Buy salesman was very helpful. He suggested that I give it a shot and if I don't like it, I could return it in two weeks. You can't do that with the on-line stores (who are not helpful and don't take gift cards). He helped me load it into my SUV in the freezing cold and off I went (75" TVs have to be shipped). The settings out of the box are not great - but with a little tweaking, it looks very good. The sound is also good - much better than my Samsung LED upstairs. My kids like the Netflix and Amazon buttons - right on the controller. One button and you're in. Unfortunately there was no way to set the Roku without providing a credit card, but we'll see how that goes. I chose the History Channel to enroll (free) and then set Netflix and Amazon with my existing account settings. There is no greater value for a 65" TV anywhere. This is the one to get.

    Great Value TV

I am very happy with this LG tv. It is an exceptional value for the size and price. The tv looks excellent mounted on my wall - very clean and sharp, whether it is turned on or not! The picture quality is crisp. The sound is also very good. For as little tv as I watch, this was a great choice for my needs without compromising quality. After doing a lot of research, I didn't feel I needed a 4k. The smart tv features and rodku is easy to use, I can watch my netflix and amazon on demand, and really do everything I need to do with a simple interface. I like this tv so much more than I expected! It really looks great on the wall too.

Great value, can't delete cable channels

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The picture, network features, sound, are all great. But once you do a channel search ( cable and antenna connections) you can't delete the unwanted channels. I realize that in this day and age basic cable and antenna are 'old school', but if the tv has that option, you should be able to chose which channels come up when you hit the channel up/down button. Channel search found 136 channels of which 97 are blank, 25 are in foreign languages and the rest are the ones I want to watch. So I have to scroll through dozens of channels to get to the next good one, or memorize 2 dozen dtv numbers (ie: 67-1435 = NBC ). I watch over the air HD quite often, so this is very annoying. One other small inconvenience is the fact that the Mute and Volume controls are on the side of the remote and it more often than not, they get pushed when you grab the remote.

Really want to love it rather than returning.

First of all, I love the combination of Roku and LG. I returned a Sharp 65 inch 4K before getting this one because the defective screen on the Sharp. I was so surprise that LG made a Roku TV and markets it for just $799. What a deal!! However, after the first night of watching this TV, I was thinking to return it. The picture quality is 'great', it's bright and sharp and color looks great! But, BUT, the backlight of this TV is not so great. I can easily see uneven backlight clouding on the screen, especially when showing light colors. It's making me sick. I have to admit that being an engineer myself, I'm a very picky person. For this price point, I didn't expect it to be perfect, but uneven backlight is something I can't bear with. In short, I really want to love this TV, especially it comes with Roku, which is my favorite, but if LG can use more even backlighting, it'll be a GREAT TV!
