Customers are saying

Customers commend the 65" Class OLED TV's picture quality, 3D capabilities, and deep black levels, with many praising the immersive viewing experience provided by the curved screen. While some users noted concerns about glare and motion issues in certain situations, the overall consensus highlights the superior image quality and ease of use. A few mentioned the higher price point as a drawback, but many felt it was justified by the TV's performance.

Bad Choppy Motion on 24fps content

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

4 stars for OLED panel, 1 stars at best for LG's image processing. The big problem with this set is, fast motion looks very choppy like a strobe light effect when watching 24 frames per second content. As in, most every movie shot on film. No combination of motion settings will fix it. It becomes dizzying after awhile. I have never seen ANY other tv at any price range using any screen technology have a problem like this. I don't have a problem with normal 24fps film judder- I actually like it and I don't care for the "soap opera effect" that one gets when enabling most TV's motion interpolation settings. So I'm not complaining about that. If you turn 24fps mode off on the blu ray player, you get bad judder. So that won't fix the strobing effect. Even with 24fps mode ON on the blu-ray player, If you use ANY combination of LG's Tru Motion settings (doesnt matter where you set de-judder and de-blur) it will not remedy the problem. Increasing de-judder does reduce it a little, but it is still at an annoying level. And, even the smallest amounts of de-judder introduce frequent noticeable artifacts in the picture. In 3D mode, these artifacts seem to be much more prevalent in the right-eye image, so you get a weird ghosting effect that goes away the minute you turn TruMotion completely off. Real Cinema mode doesn't fix it either. With Real Cinema off, the TV does 3:2 pull-down to display 24fps movies on the native 120Hz panel. This does not solve the choppy motion/strobe effect problem, but it increases panning judder to obtrusive and exaggerated levels compared to normal 24fps judder. Turning the Real Cinema mode on reduces judder by displaying each of the 24 fps 5 times. 24x5 = 120, so this maps perfectly to the native refresh rate of the OLED panel. But, judder remains (although it is improved a little) and the strobe effect is not improved at all. In short, watching movies via blu ray is unpleasant and even nauseating after awhile. No problem on 60fps source material like TV. Like every single other LG product I have ever owned, there is a design defect in this TV. Now, the passive 3D is great. Not as good as my DLP set, but by far better than any LCD or Plasma 3D I have seen. And, with a 4K panel the halving of vertical resolution inherent in passive 3D still leaves you with 1080P Full HD resolution-the full 3D blu-ray spec. Dark scene performance is excellent, of course the blacks are great. Color saturation and gamut are excellent, but flesh tones are not all that accurate. And brightness is 2-3 times lower than the top performing LED-LCD sets. The Sony X940D has twice the brightness, much better flesh tones, and extraordinarily better motion, but the X940D has the worst 3D I've ever seen. So much crosstallk (ghosting) and other artifacts that I cannot believe any company would release the product to the public like that. I kind of feel the same about LG and the motion problems on this set. I went to a Best Buy store and hooked up a blu-ray player to the higher-end OLED65E6P with a 24 fps movie (The Martian), and the motion problems exist on that set too. I didn't watch enough material to say if it is as bad as the C6P. Do a search online, there are a number of people complaining about the awful motion on these sets. If 3D weren't discontinued, I'd return this set and wait for someone to come out with a high-performance large screen 4K 3D HDR TV with no significant performance defects but unfortunately even in 2017 no such animal exists. X940D- awful 3D. LG OLED - very bad 24fps motion. UH8500/UH9500 - Awful blacks. Others- no 3d or no HDR. Lastly, I am not too hard to please. I recently bought a 65" 4K LED-LCD TV from a chinese off-brand for $500 delivered. At exactly 1/6th the price of the OLED65C6P for the same screen size and resolution, the China Cheapo runs circles around the OLED in motion handling. If you don't care about normal motion on blu ray movies, don't care about OLED image retention and vignetting and you like 3D, you might like this set. But it is a crime for a TV in this price range to have such a glaring performance defect. By the way- I called LG tech support to see if there might be a firmware update in the works to fix the motion stutter. Their rep repeatedly kept asking me to send a still picture of the problem. I went back and forth with her trying to explain that you can't capture a MOTION issue in a still photograph. I was never able to get past the repeated requests for a still picture. Unbelievable.

I only waited for the price drops..

I had high-high expectations for this beast. And the week before Thanksgiving, it finally dropped to 2799.99 and at that point, I could no longer wait. For some reason, I really wanted 3D, so that limited me to the C6 or the E6, but the E6 was simply out of my price range. I also, have been opposed to the curved screens. This is obviously curved, but it's pretty subtle and I don't mind it. Had I gone for the B6, I would have gotten another HDMI (4), which I preferred, but lost 3D. For the review of just the TV itself, it is as expected--spectacular. I came from a 1080p 55" LED first-gen Samsung. Yes, the blacks are just that--black. Yes, the TV has glare due to all the light in my room, but after the LED, this OLED on colored backgrounds nearly absorbs all that reflection and I barely notice it. The colors are bright and vibrant. I have watched a few HD NBA games, 4K movies and played 4K video games and the tv presented them well. I only made a few adjustments to the TV settings after I turned it on the first time. I simply removed any edge or sharpness settings, as per what was suggested on many forums. The remote is a nice change too. A simple shake, the cursor pops up and is much like a Wii controller. It makes typing in Netflix, ETC, faster. I customized my input names and pictures, to make transition between devices easier for my wife. I haven't connected the TV wired internet YET, but Netflix loads noticeably faster than on my Sony Blu-ray player that has a direct connection. The interface is different, as it is part of the TV's OS. Overall, I am so happy with my purchase. I have no regrets.

    Nothing Better

The LG OLED65C6P is in my opinion the best TV money can buy right now. I've had mine for a month now and have not regretted the extra money spent for this superior technology. Went through several premium edge-lit LED sets from Samsung and Sony and should have just bit the bullet in the beginning and went home with the OLED. From picture quality to overall build quality and aesthetics, this TV cannot be beat. This is my first curved TV and while the difference may be subtle enough not to notice, it just looks beautiful turned off sitting on the stand. This TV does nothing wrong and is as close to perfect as it gets.

    Better than plasma

I originally purchased the 55c6p, but after 3 weeks I exchanged it for the 65c6p. Bigger is better. Thanks to my local Best Buy team for a seamless transaction . I was bummed when my plasma called it quits. They don't make them anymore. After months of reviews and finally seeing an OLED in person, I had to get one. These tv's are pure eye candy. The color/inky blacks/contrast blow my old plasma away. Bought a 4K bluray player to go along with the tv. So far, every 4K movie has been an eye popping jaw dropping moment. This tv does a very good job of upscalng 1080p. It also displays 3D content without any issues or eye strain ( at least for my eyes). I have not noticed any judder or blur issues yet . I can always go into the expert settings for adjustment if that issue pops up. The tv is somewhat reflective so it will pick up background lighting a bit. Just pretend you are in the movie theater and turn the lights off. I give this a 5 star rating because I have not found any real cons yet. I have only viewed 4K/1080p bluray movies on this tv, so I cannot comment on how other sources may look. If you can afford it, get one, you will not be disappointed .

The ONLY 2016 Model TV worth buying

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After carefully reviewing all the top selections from Sony, Samsung, and LG, I ended up purchasing the 65" LG OLED CP6. OLED is the ONLY way to go. Why do you think that Sony, Panasonic, etc., will start selling OLED's in 2017?!?! First, let me say that no TV is "perfect", but those people that get too caught up in the minuscia (I.e., tiny criticisms of certain aspects of the picture during select scenes), probably never end up allowing themselves to enjoy the intended purpose of the TV in the first place! The sum is greater than each of the parts, so if the TV provides an amazing and immersive experience as a whole, then that's all that counts in my humble opinion. I would just pay attention to certain major aspects that are important to you in guiding your decision. As a long time plasma owner and having a large family, it was of great importance to have the picture remain at its best regardless of viewing angle. It was entirely unacceptable to me to spend any kind of money (including 5k on the Sony ZD9) for technology that only produces an optimal picture when seated directly in front of it!!! It was also important for the TV to produce awesome blacks and great contrast. All of which OLED produces in abundance. I was initially looking at the Sony 930D, but was not happy with the off angle viewing inherent to that technology and obviously poor build quality (bent frames). As an owner of a 9 year old Samsung plasma, that is still going strong, I was equally disappointed in Samsung's offering for 2016. In summary, you will NOT be disappointed in this TV if it fits your budget. I chose the CP6 because I think the slight curve looks sleek and I wanted the 3D at no extra cost. I have it on Standard mode with some minor tweaks. Again, if you are the type of person that's going to say that you have a problem with this TV because you see "issues" with certain parts of a scene at certain dark or bright scenes when the outside humidity is over 50% and the lunar cycle is..................RELAX AND ENJOY THE TV!!!

This is my first OLED TV, and my first TV at the higher end of the price spectrum. Picture is amazing and black levels (with no halos/light bleed) are AMAZING. Had an equivalently priced Samsung first, but then returned for the LG. LG was way better.

    Time to upgrade My UN55HU9000

I was looking to upgrade my curved UN55HU9000 to a 65" model, but Samsung discontinued their 3D. I then looked at the LG OLED65C6P and purchased it right away. The 3D was phenomenal. I see why Samsung discontinued 3D, no competition to LG. I like the menu system, simulated 3D, and the lack of the external box better than my Samsung. The picture is better than the Samsung, but not by as much as I hoped (Oversold myself), but then again it was the top of the line for Samsung. For me, its all about the 3D...
