We purchased a LG 65" C5 from Best Buy in June. I declined the supplimental insurance offered by Best Buy. Why would we need it on a brand new TV, right. Well within 3 months the TV had a black vertical line on the screen. Then the TV would just go to a black screen. We cant even watcha show for 30 minutes without it shutting off on us. We knew it was out of BB 30 day policy, so we called the manufacturer. They sent a tech out within a couple days. He said its a fairly common issue, but was going to have to order in parts because they do not have in stock. They dont have parts in stck for a common repair? Well, we are on week 3 still with no parts. The tech said he would submit a Return authorization, but now LG customer service is claiming a 30 day period to fix and if we want a RA it will take an additional 15-17 days. I am seriously through the roof. We bought in time for the football season. Guess what were not watching. Shame on me for not buying the warranty, but ill never buy another LG product again.
Hi, Tim. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG TV (OLED65C5PUA) model. We understand how important it is for your TV to deliver uninterrupted performance, especially during football season.
If your screen is showing a black vertical line and shutting off intermittently, one helpful step is to disconnect all external devices, then perform a Picture Test by going to Settings > All Settings > Support > OLED Care > Device Self Care > Picture Test. This can help determine if the issue is panel-related or caused by a connected device. Also, ensure your TV’s firmware is up to date by checking Settings > All Settings > Support > Software Update. Picture is great…….when it is working. We had it professionally installed after the geek squad did the original installation. The TV would go to sleep and turn itself off at 15 minute intervals for several hours. That has not happened lately. The TV will also go to a blank screen for a couple seconds and return, and also go to a landscape scene on occasion. Best Buy tech service was no help. Disappointed to say the least. Spend $1500 for a TV and won’t even send out a service tech without a service fee? What a lack of customer service!
Hi, there. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG TV (OLED65C5PUA) model. We understand the importance of having a TV that performs consistently, especially when you’ve invested in a premium OLED model.
One helpful step is to check the Power Saving and Screen Saver settings in the All Settings > Support > OLED Care > Device Self‑Care menu. Features like Auto Power Off, Screen Saver, or AI Service options can sometimes trigger unexpected screen changes or brief blackouts if enabled. You can also try reseating or replacing the HDMI cable, as a loose or faulty connection may cause momentary signal drops. Frustrating OS!!!

Partially defective. Firmware is giving me headaches since new trying to get it working. The physical components seem to work except for failing to retain settings or ignoring some settings. Unable to use the TV or Network functions so instead using an old (but working) independent tuner with decent results. Maybe I will try to update the OS to a newer version when it comes out in hopes it corrects the problems. I have attempted to do a complete system reset and firmware reload several times but the problems persist. This LG is basically being used as a computer monitor now. No TV or web functions. It IS great in that monitor role.
Hi there, Estonia. We understand your inquiry regarding the LG - 65" Class C5 Series OLED evo AI 4K UHD Smart webOS TV. We appreciate you sharing your experience and the steps you've already taken, including the system reset and firmware reload. We understand that the TV is currently not meeting your expectations regarding the webOS and network functions.
A simple step that can sometimes resolve issues with retained settings is to perform a power cycle.
Basic Troubleshooting Step:
Unplug the TV from the wall outlet for at least 60 seconds.
While the TV is unplugged, press and hold the power button on the TV itself for 30 seconds (this helps drain any residual power).
Plug the TV back in and turn it on to see if your settings are retained. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/lg-65-class-c5-series-oled-evo-ai-4k-uhd-smart-webos-tv-2025/JJ8VPZTRG6 If the issue persists, we want to look into this further, especially since you are still experiencing trouble after a factory reset and firmware reload. For further assistance and any specific concerns you may have, please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport. We appreciate your patience as we work to get this fully resolved for you. —Renzo

This is a good tv. However, one was delivered that was defective. The store replaced it with a new one but this caused me much trouble having to complete installation setup and programming twice.
