The TV is great, OLED is beautiful with unmatched contrast and blacks. However, go with literally any other company for your OLED. LG does not offer software updates containing new features to older models. Even if it is only one year old. An example of this is how they did a software update to add Apple HomeKit and Airplay 2 support to their 2019 TVs, but did not offer an update to 2018 owners. Feels like a slap in the face after spending thousands of dollars.

I have had a 5 yr old samsung 60 inch and was hoping to upgrade to a OLED picture which looks amazing in the store!! When I brought it home what a DISAPPOINTMENT! The picture quality is awful. I would not recommend this TV ever. I read some of the concerns on line prior to purchasing heeds their words. Don't buy this TV I upgraded my cable connectors and my old Samsung blew it away. Back to my old TV but more satisfied I didn't waste the money on an inferior set.

I really, really wanted to like this t.v.. I tried every way to adjust it to my liking. No matter what I did I found the L G to be way to warm and way, way to dark. Some scenes were so dark all I could see were people's faces everything else was black. I've read all the great reviews and was confused why my t.v. was different even tho I tried two different ones of the same brand. I wound up returning it and bought a Sony 900f which I love. It took 5 minutes to calibrate it. The blacks are great and I don't have to worry about burn in. I went from 3000.00 to 2000.00 and better off.

I bought a a Sony Oled AF8 on Thanksgiving eve. The sales guy highly recommended this TV and it looked fantastic in the showroom. I got it home, and it still had a fantastic picture, but it doesn’t allow you to control sound through the optical cable output. So, you have to use two remotes. Add that to the fact that it had $3200 price tag ($600 off the regular price, mind you) and I really hadn’t planned on spending that much on a TV, I got a bad case of buyer’s remorse and ended up exchanging it 5 days later for the Sony LED x900F. The reviews I read said “who needs OLED when this TV delivers such a great picture?”. My answer, “anyone who spent 5 days watching an OLED in their house.”. Period. Kind of like flying first class, once you’ve done it you feel like you’re missing out when you fly coach. (I “miss out” a lot when I fly, but you get my point.) From the second I sat down and turned on the LED I just couldn’t get the picture to look like that OLED. In particular, any black on the screen. Because the pixels literally turn off in an OLED you can’t get any “blacker”. No backlit halo or gray effect. Trust me, I spent hours messing with the LEDs picture settings. I could get the picture to look pretty good on one input or channel, then would have to tinker almost every time I changed the program. Very frustrating. Also, I still had that two remote control issue because this Sony also didn’t allow the ability to control audio through the optical cable. I even broke down and bought a Sony soundbar so I could use the HDMI ARC feature which allows the TV remote to work, but it was not for me. I wrote a review about it also if you’re interested (sony model HTCT290). Okay, I know it took a long time to mention this LG C8, but I thought knowing some of the back story would help paint a better picture of how pleased I am with this purchase. While I was returning the sound bar, I took some time to look at these LGs and did some online searches comparing it to the Sony OLED, which I was considering repurchasing. All three sites gave the nod to the C8 in almost every category measured. It was on sale and came in $400 less than the Sony AF8. Bonus; this TV allows you to control audio with the TV remote! I exchanged the LED for this one and once it was all set up I received an instant, I mean instant, gratification with the the picture. Every bit as good, if not better, than the other OLED. No tinkering with picture settings every time I change the channel or input like the LED. My sound bar works because LG understands that people already own electronic equipment from other manufacturers. Short version, I will not speak ill of the Sony Oled picture, but to pay hundreds of dollars more to have the same picture with the aforementioned short sightedness with audio makes no sense to me. Another bonus, the C8 is super slim and came with a sticky plastic film on the screen which allows hanging the tv without smudging. Yet another “considerate thought” from LG. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, EXCELLENT picture, and no lack of features makes me smile. I went from sweating the price, to sweating the picture, to chilling like a champ with what I know was a great final decision. Hope this helps if you’re on the fence between OLED brands, or OLEDs versus LEDs.

I’m not going to beat around the bush, I’m just starting this review off with an outstanding 5 stars. Setup was very easy, do no try to Lift by yourself, have someone else help you when placing it on the stand and getting it ready. It would also be beneficial to hire the geek squad to install for you if hanging on the wall as this TV is massive. (not heavy just big) The unit is about ¼ thick around the screen. But extremely well built. The stand is pretty heavy so it is very stable. When you first power it up, you walk through some simple settings (via prompts or voice) I connected it to my network and it updated the firmware. The magic remote is the only remote you need. When you are done setting the tv up. You can use the voice control button to accomplish many things with just your voice, Turn channel, select input, and change settings are among a few. Just “marry” your assistant (google or Siri) to the LG device. If you have reoccurring apps or choices you can make them a hot key by choosing the app and holding down a number 1-9 Want to stream something from your phone to the TV, you can do it through the LG Tv plus app. The LG app has over 140 different internet channels offering something for everyone. You can listen to music with the app and connect anything that holds music (phone tablet, Usb drive etc.) You can also view photos and set them as screen savers and zoom in on them as well as your videos too. Want to record your zoom to your Usb drive? You can do this as well. The web browsing is some of the best I have seen on a smart TV, it can do most everything needed to browse many different sites as well as any tablet out there. You can also use speech to text when browsing site addresses. (Input so you don’t have to use the onscreen keyboard) I hooked up my google assistant to the TV and can use my assistant to operate the TV via voice now. Makes it very handy in case you can’t find the remote or you are too lazy to get up and get it. You can connect an X box/PlayStation, keyboard and mouse or a game pad controller via the Usb slot if you want to use it as a remote or another. I like being able to view my menu of option at the bottom of the screen like being able to choose amazon, Netflix, Hulu, games etc. you can use the floating curser by pointing you remote at the screen, this makes browsing and selecting and even putting in passwords so much easier. Or you can use the scrolling button and 4-way directional button for choices. The Dolby vision sound is very nice for a flat screen as most others lack in that department forcing you to get a sound bar or other sound system. Using the Dolby is almost like having a surround sound system already set up. Sounds are very crisp and not muffled (especially low and high tones) As far as the picture quality…. I cannot think of words accurate enough to explain how awesome this picture is, the blacks and whites are very impressive. Colors POP, they really bring back the fun in TV viewing and Movies. I have started to re-watch classics to see what I missed with our old 1080p set. There is no comparison! Want to view more than 1 thing a t a time? This TV can do that even from 2 external inputs. Have a short memory like me? Use the TV scheduler to schedule shows and the tv will auto tune for you every time it comes on. Also, the fact the consumer reports ranked the LGs at the top of the list is not a fluke. Two minutes of viewing this OLED will make you a believer!! It made CES (Consumer electronics show) in Vegas a believer. It was best of show in its category!! If you are waiting to pull the trigger on this wait no more, don’t walk, but Run to Best Buy and make this unit yours. Not only have I recommended this units to friends and family, I actually made a lot of the come over and view this to believe it. They all agreed This is the best they have seen!!

    A9 Game Changer!

So first off full disclosure, I am a Best Buy employee. I must say that working around this technology day in and day out you realize what new items really are special and what is fun for a short period of time and then the novelty wears off. LG nailed this! (I highly recommend GSP on all OLED televisions. The tech is amazing but burn-in is real and it's refreshing to know you are covered) After 8 months of ownership my Sony A1e decided it would develop a line of dead pixels from the top of the screen to the bottom. I had "Geek Squad Protection" and the Precinct sent agents out to assess my panel. It was sent thru to Sony who within 72 hours had a RA number and my Money back in my pocket with chance to make my next purchase. I had nothing against the Sony but felt that maybe I should go up to 65 inches if I had to do it all over again. I researched and decided after significant time spent online investigating and in store that I should give the LG a try. I'm sure most those here know that LG produces the panel on the Sony but processing is different. Sony had won countless awards on the X1 Xtreme processor so I had been sold on Sony tech. BUT- after the "Dolby Vision" debacle of 2017 I thought that maybe LG needed a fair shake. So after some serious testing and tweaking LG has totally blown me AWAY! Their new A9 chip not only processes the 4k HDR content amazingly but it has really knocked the upscaling of 1080 content out of the park too. The ability to take whatever my Apple TV or my 4k UHD player has to offer and produce a cinema experience unrivaled in todays market is phenomenal. Another thing that LG has done to put itself ahead of the pack is the Dolby Atmos processing. Most people are new to Atmos and "object based surround" systems in general but LG is pioneering it being part of the Tv's processing duties. Does the C8 give you an amazing surround experience from the tv alone? Uhhl no! haha... It does however nicely process audio and send it via ARC back to my Denon IN-Command Atmos enabled home theatre AVR. Bottom line is when this tv is setup with a proper sound system you have a REAL home theatre experience that makes you want to stay home and take in that movie. Perfect Blacks, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, A9 Processing, and the brightest OLED panel ever offered in a consumer level unit makes this one of the best decisions I've ever made in electronics and Home Cinema gear. Bravo to LG and their pioneering of great tech that takes Home Theatre to the next level!

Recently Purchased the OLED65C8PUA and so far I'm just blown away! . This 4k is like no other the LG OLED colors just jump out at you. 4K Movies are just awesome to watch. I did my homework on this television and learned about the pros and cons of OLED, but decided to roll with it and so far I'm glad I did. You really have to have a good understanding about OLED and make sure this is the TV for you after all it is a very expensive TV. I have the perfect dark room day or night to watch my TV, but to me it works just as well in the light also. The Blacks are seriously TRUE black and the Colors are very high in contrast and this is were you need to take the time to know how to adjust and maybe calibrate the settings to your liking. It may benefit you to have a professional calibrator adjust for you. This OLED has Dolby Atmos audio from the TV and actually blew me away how well it sounded I thought my Stereo system was on still for a sec. Plus it has Dolby Vision and that was a plus for me. Movies are even more enjoyable I no longer have to go to AMC Dolby Theater to see my movies. With this OLED and my whole sound system at home my movies are such a joy to watch. I don't do video gaming but they say the OLED C8 works great for the gamers. If you love Movies like I do and Sports your gonna love this TV. I encourage you to REALLY take the time and make sure you get the television to your liking it took me months before I decided. I Forgot to mention you can do Google and Alexia which I haven't tried yet, but with the TV control I can ask some basic questions and seems to work fine. The Control is like a wand with courser pointer on the screen which I really like …. For me the OLED is the ticket !!!

This is my first OLED tv I have owned and I dont think I will ever buy an LED tv ever again. I have owned this for just over 2 months now and it is absolutely amazing! I replaced my Samsung MU8000 4k hdr tv with this LG C8. I moved the Samsung to a downstairs room. I admit it took about a week to adjust to the OLED as it is not as bright - but that's not a bad thing. It is plenty bright for my room and the tv is wall mounted opposite a large picture window that gets plenty of natural light. I use the IHS Expert Bright Room picture setting. The picture on this tv is amazing! I cant say that enough. The colors are natural looking and so much more realistic than the samsung which made everything a little too red. The clarity is perfect. No pixelation, blooming, banding, etc. The difference is night and day if I am watching the Samsung downstairs and then go up and watch the LG. The only annoyance was lag in brightness from dark to bright scenes but that was just corrected with the latest firmware update. I did a lot of research before buying this tv as I was concerned of the perceived lack of brightness and the potential for burn in. I am telling you this tv is plenty bright regardless of what room and how much light you have in it. I have not experienced any image retention or burn in And the tv has been paused for long periods of time by my kids so if you are concerned about those 2 things i would say dont be. You will absolutely love this tv and the money spent is well worth it. I am going to buy a 2nd one and get rid of the Samsung all together at some point. HDR is a totally different experience with the OLED vs the LED. I cant say enough about this tv and how happy i am with it.

The back light failed after 2.5 weeeks, just barely enough to be out of the 2 week Best Buy return warranty, now Best Buy will not help me at all, and now I am stuck waiting and waiting weeks for TCL warranty support. I paid for professional delivery and installation, and TCL warranty will not help me remove the 100+ lb TV from the wall, so I am stuck here all by myself having to hire people and pay more just to get the TV off the wall so someday if when the TCL tech shows up they can work on it. AVOID! DO NOT BUY THIS TV.
