Audio Sync issue with Toslink Digital Input

    Posted .

Love love love the picture on this TV. It's the 65", however... I often have issues with the Audio Sync. I regularly need to go into the TV's system settings to adjust the Sync. The issue could possibly be the fact that I'm still using an older surround sound system that is connected using a Toslink digital cable and not the ARC input.

VERY Fragile! Cracked/Ruined One Week In

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We totally own the crack we now have in our $3,000 paperweight of a TV — it was our fault (kinda). We were BARELY tilting the TV after mounting it on a very popular and very stable wall mount. The top of this TV is so thin that it took less pressure than it takes to squash a tiny bug to crack the screen. After turning it on, white lines appear to flash by the crack and nothing works. It's completely dead after just one week. The negative review isn't because the TV looks bad — to the contrary, it looks pretty great. The single star is because this TV, in our opinion, should not include VESA mounts. The top 3/4 of the TV (which is all screen) is VERY wobbly and even the slightest flex will crack the screen. While we probably could've just lied and told the Best Buy manager here in Tallahassee that it was broken when we took it out of the box, we just aren't those people. So, they would not replace or refund the TV after hearing our story. This is a VERY expensive lesson, but LG should remove the VESA mounts. Yeah, we get it, we screwed up and lots of folks probably have this thing mounted on the wall. Just be EXTREMELY careful when adjusting the TV's positioning while it's mounted (to a motion mount, of course). Sadly, we have to buy another TV. It'll likely be another brand, unfortunately.

    Great Picture....Bad Reliability

    Posted .

My experience has been pretty unsatisfactory. I switched from Samsung to LG Oled. While I like the picture quality at first the reliability of the set is not good. My set developed vertical banding only after 40 days of purchase and on day 50 developed a green dot on the screen that will not go away. The warranty process for LG was quite time consuming and a hassle. They would not send me a replacement TV, but instead are outsourcing the repair of panel to a 3rd party. It has been 3 weeks since I reported the issue to them and still not resolved. I would stay away from this product. I don't think OlED is ready for consumer use yet. Once the bugs are worked out it would be great! If you don't mind being a beta tester or just feel lucky I think it is a good choice.

My previous Samsung LCD died and I had been researching 4K TVs for a while. Decided to go with the C8 due to all the positive reviews online. When I setup the C8 I immediately noticed how different it looked compared to my old set. While the darker scenes in various content looked good, the picture never quite looked great for everything else. There was a lot of noise for anything with a lighter background. So much that it was a nuisance because I had to keep adjusting picture settings to get it to diminish. Even doing this, I would then make the picture darker and less of an HD pop. Hockey and Netflix shows were the worst offenders. The only instances where I saw a fantastic picture was during my Apple 4K screensavers and the demos that came with the TV. To make matters worse, the remote would constantly lose its pointer functionality and I would have to de-register/register it over and over. Tried to get used to the picture, but upon nearing the 45 day return, I decided to return it.

I owned the E7 from 2017 and it was the best TV I've ever had.... until I upgraded to the C8. I can't quite believe how good everything looks on this set. Upscaling does fantastic, the new A9 processor handles 1080p very well. The Google Assistant built in is awesome, I have Hue Lights and can control then from this TV's remote. I could go on all day but just go into your local Best buy and look at this thing yourself. It's the best TV out there, not a doubt in my mind.

Great picture but Lip Sync issues with ARC

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Long story short is that the picture is as good as advertised. However, there are serious lipsync issues when using ARC under certain conditions, specifically when using Xfinity cable as a source. Sadly, LG support throws Xfinity under the bus. Problem is widely known and applies to Sky cable and others as well. Avoid unless you plan on using an external device as the system hub such as an AV receiver or soundbar. Such a shame because this would easily be a 5 star review without the lip sync issues. Looks like I’m going to sell this TV at a steep loss.

    Awesome picture, poor quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this TV to replace my 12 yo rear projection. I followed recommended settings found online and the picture is awesome. On of the best features is the viewing angle. We have a large room with a wide sectional sofa and the picture is great at all angles - no fading like you see with standard LED panels. This was the main selling point for me. I'm giving this 3 stars because the first unit I had died after 5 weeks. It started with a stuck pixel (bright red dot) on the upper right of the screen. I called BB to arrange an exchange. That process itself was painful as I got the runaround/put on hold from various people until I finally got someone from home theater at my local store. For this I was on the phone for 1 hour. After getting home that night the TV did not power on at all - just a brief white flash on the screen then off. So it went from a stuck pixel to completely dead panel. I've had the replacement now for 3 weeks and so far so good. Only issue with this one is that the panel has a slight tilt backwards, but not enough to justify returning it again. If this unit lasts I'll update my rating.

I've had this display for a little over 24 hours, and I don't want to stop watching it. Expectations exceeded. I came from a 64" Samsung plasma, so I didn't think the difference would be too big, but man was I wrong.

GRAY CONSISTENCY KILLS DARK SCENES, WORSE IN 4K

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I notified LG online support regarding my C8 OLED TV, and I sent photos showing the problem of light gray taking up 1/3-1/2 of screen during dark scenes (a pretty common issue with their panels that you can see from several reviews here) and it's worst in HDR and 4K shows. LG support directed me to a 3rd party servicer and we shared the same info and photos. This servicer notified me that they ordered new panel and will schedule date for panel replacement. They even told me that LG would not replace my TV, but would certainly replace the panel. So I scheduled the visit with my family member (who is not technically savvy or understanding of the TV problem) present thinking this was a simple matter. The technician who was sent has no idea what the TV problem was, and would have to do evaluation with tech support. I was NOT informed this was the process. So this evaluation was performed without me present, my family member had no idea what to do. Results of the evaluation were apparently that there was "no problem with the screen." This is after I already discussed the problems with LG and the servicer, which is why they ordered the panel in the first place! So the technician leaves my place and calls me to tell me that there is no issue, to call LG to ask for second opinion. When I call LG, they say they do not support servicing for second opinion and will no longer answer my messages. Had I known that the servicer would do an evaluation, then I would have insisted that I be present for this. LG Tech support does NOT look carefully for this problem. Now I am left feeling I have no recourse because I was not informed by the servicer or LG about the process of the evaluation. I feel led astray and will never order LG TVs again. Look how many of us are finding problems with the panel. BUYER BEWARE.

Thank you for your detailed feedback of your experience with your television and the experience with the technician. I hate to hear that you have gone through this. I can understand how frustrating it may be for there to be light gray taking up bits of your television screen during dark scenes on your shows and for the technician to say he sees no issue with the television. TV great but directions to put together horrible

I am happy with the TV, no complaints; but the directions to put the stand together were almost completely useless. Little pictures lacking detail and no verbage to explain what was intended. Must be a plot to require customers to pay for installation. My friend who also purchased this model says the same.

I purchased my oled65c7 in Jan. of 2018. I had read about some issues on screen burn in, but was told by the sales person that the problem had been corrected by the manufacturer. That was not the case. The screen can get burn in just by frequent watching of channels with a hard logo, such as your local news channel with a time and temp. box always on the screen. It doesn't have to be stuck on one image for hours to get burn in. Nothing I have read says that the c8 is any different. Just beware! I now have 2600 dollar tv that is worthless to me in just over one year.

Bought my LG OLED 65 Dec 2016 for $3400. I googled the best TV to buy. Today I replaced it. It has had burn in for 9 months. I was lead to beleave you would not have a burn in. So after almost 2 years the TV had a burn in. If you google this you will find this is the number one problem with OLED. I have been buying TV's for 50 years. This should not of happened. Today I bought a Samsung QLED 70R. The picture is better than my OLED. I was very surprised.

I’ve had this LG for couple of years now. Not impressed with the picture anymore. Anything that is red in color is dull or almost brown looking in the center of tv. Looks the way it should around outside 4” of the screen. I have a 15 year old lg lcd tv that has a better picture than this over priced piece of crap. I was so excited when I upgraded to this tv but shortly after realized it wasn’t better when the colors started to fade.
