They appreciate the gaming capabilities and the future-proofing provided by the HDMI 2.1 ports. LG OLED I normally do not purchase new TV tech as it changes fast and price drops quickly. The time came to replace our living room TV (also our main TV) and Best Buy had a deal I could not pass up. For reference when I talk about my previoius TV I am comparing to a Vizio PX Quantum which is said to be one of the best non-OLED TVs on the market today Some of my more important factors for purchasing a TV are: Picture Quality To say that this picture quality is the best is an understatement. I have never seen better picture quality on a TV. The deep, perfect blacks are amazing with a bright or dark room. Dark movies still have a level of detail in dark that I have never seen before. No visual blooming when a very bright object is next to what is supposed to be black like on my previous TV. Color is also incredible. Put on any 4K cooking show on Netflix and be amazed by the deep colors and richness you get from all the color full ingredients. Also try not to reach thru the TV to grab the food Future Proof I always like to think where tech will be a few years ahead and make sure I am prepared for that. First was HDMI 2.1 for the next gen consoles coming out which this TV has. Also eARC was important for me so I could have full Atmos when the new Sonos Arc soundbar comes out Ambient Light Glare Since this is in our main living room, we have lots of lights of windows that can cause lots of glare. I would say that this TV was comparable with my previous TV, no better, no worse. One of my other biggest concerns was burn-in. Since OLEDs are prone to this I purchased and additional warranty from Geek Squad to protect myself in the event that I do get burn-in. This TV will be our heaviest used in the home so static images, logos, etc are a possibility but I also have faith in the Pixel Refresh and other new technology that OLED manufacturers have implemented in these TVs. Burn-in is much less of hesitation point for me now but I still wanted extra coverage to be sure. Overall this TV is an incredible upgrade from any other technology in the market today. I would not hesitate to recommend this TV to anyone looking to buy right now. I plan on upgrading other TVs in the house with OLED tech and hopefully one day make the big splurge for the 77” model!

I’ve been watching the reviews and prices of TVs at this quality level for two years. I’d had gone back and forth between the LG (C8 & C9) and Samsung Q90. I really like the one-box connect feature of the Samsung and the brightness of the QLED. But every review put the picture quality of the LG OLED on top along with the “smart TV operating system.” I happened to stumble upon an LG pricing promotion in which the C9 was on sale for the same price as last year’s C8—and several hundred dollars less than the Q90, so I went with the LG C9. I am not a technical novice. Setting up a TV does not intimidate me at all. With that said, I became very frustrated with the entire set-up process. It was not fast and took way too long. I found myself with a headache—and I rarely get a headache! My stress seemed to be centered on the fact that I was spending “some” money on this TV and I had an expectation that I would be able to use all the bells and whistles I was paying for. First, you MUST have TWO people to take the TV out of the box and screw on the stand. I don’t know why, but for some strange reason… I watched the video on the Best Buy website about how to unbox the TV. I’m glad I did! The drawings on the top of the box were not exactly easy to follow. There was a small folded sheet of paper inside the box about the stand assembly. I’m reasonably intelligent, and my high school-aged son is even more so, but it took the two of us using some trial and error to put the bottom piece of the stand in the right position. Once plugged up, the first part of the on-screen instructions/set-up seemed to go rather quickly (English/time zone/select Wi-Fi network). At this point, I’m starting to get excited -- but then the real frustration started to appear. I connected the cable TV box, a Sonos soundbar, a LG DVD player and a Roku to the TV and found issues with each. I followed the on-screen instructions and it seemed to be fairly easy… but I kept running into small irritating problems. Cable Box—Our city is legacy Time Warner Cable. I know we are now “Spectrum,” and I selected Spectrum for our cable TV provider. No matter how many times I went through the entire process of setting up the cable box, the magic remote would not change the channels, show me the on screen cable tv guide or power the cable box on/off. The LG TV said the magic remote was enabled but most functions did NOT work. I called the cable company, and as you can guess, after a series of prompts, I was put on eternal hold before I got unhelpful “technical support.” The agent told me the LG remote would not work with the cable box and I would have to use TWO remotes. Well that added to the frustration because I knew it simply was not true. Why did I buy a TV that is supposed to show me on-screen TV choices and offer me voice control, but the TV can’t let me use those features because it didn’t see the cable tv channel listing? KEEP IN MIND, THERE IS NO FULL PRINTED INSTRUCTION MANUAL OR USER’S GUIDE! After 36-hours of searching the LG website for the full user’s guide (which I never really found) and searching internet chat boards, the good Lord pointed me to the answer on an internet forum: I needed to select “CHARTER” for the cable box on screen set up, NOT “SPECTRUM.” Once I did that, the TV displayed the cable TV guide, started making programming recommendations and the magic remote changed the channel and operated the power! Sound Bar: I love my Sonos sound system. But there was one little problem that materialized that I never crossed my mind before I bought the set. I was not mounting the TV on the wall and was placing the TV on a piece of furniture. I soon realized the TV was not high enough from the cabinet surface. In other words, the three inches at the bottom of the screen was blocked by the soundbar! I tried hiding the soundbar behind the TV, but that eliminated the “line of sight” between the Sonos and the magic remote so I couldn’t operate the volume. I currently have the soundbar standing sideways/vertically beside the cabinet. I think I’m going to build a platform box to raise the TV (the soundbar will hide the platform). LG DVD player: I was thinking there would be no compatibility issues since I had an LG DVD player for our DVD library. The magic remote does appear to operate the functions of the DVD player (play, stop, etc) but for some reason, the magic remote does NOT turn the DVD power on or off. So it looks like we will have to physically walk over to the cabinet to turn the machine on/off or use the original DVD remote. Roku: This is the big remaining frustration. The LG TV “recognizes” the Roku. The TV flashes a message that a Roku is connected. The screen shows the magic remote recognizes the Roku. But the magic remote does not operate one single function. Internet message board suggest others have run into this same issue with the C9. I do want this figured out because if the magic remote does operate the Roku, then I would have an option of turning in the cable box and saving the monthly fee by using the Spectrum Roku app. Now that the TV features “mostly” work, the picture really is stunning. I’ve used the Roku app to watch BBC 4K nature documentaries. I can’t stop watching African animals and colorful fish in 4K. The clarity and color are indescribable. One quirk about the “photo gallery.” You can load pictures onto the TV’s internal memory or simply leave an USB thumb drive. I had these visions of loading hundreds of beautiful vacation photos and having the “slideshow” run on the TV when having guests over to glance at. The demo in the store showed nice “frames” around pictures. Those frames do exist but only with preloaded pictures to be used as screensavers (LG calls them “themes). My vacation pictures will rotate on screen as a slideshow, but without the pretty frames I saw in the store. Not a big deal, but not exactly how the sales people described it on the sales floor. …So another tiny disappointment. I did not mount the TV on the wall because I didn’t want dangling cords or go to the expense and hassle of running cables through the walls. I would have mounted on the wall if I had bought the Samsung Q90 with the one connect box. For those considering a new TV, ask yourself several questions: 1. Are you the kind who would go nuts if you had bells and whistles that you couldn’t utilize? I question whether any brand would not have a compatibility issue with at least one of your devices. 2. What is important or what are you willing to give up? The perfect picture and not being able to use all of the bells and whistles that come with the TV or accepting you won’t be able to use all of the bells and whistles so you might as well buy a lesser model and save $1,000 or more and get an excellent picture and juggle multiple remotes? 3. If you buy a deluxe TV set, even if you think you are technically minded, you may want to consider springing for the Best Buy Geek Squad to come and fully connect everything and get the TV up and running. …And don’t let them leave if they tell you multiple remotes will be needed. If that’s the case, send the TV back and settle for an excellent picture rather than a perfect picture and save some money.

I really wanted a nice upgrade from my Sony X930D and thought its time to go OLED! I waited for a few months to see what the 2020 lineup would bring and though I’d get a newer Sony OLED with HDMI 2.1 ( mostly important for upcoming video game console releases), because me and my household are adamant gamers. Sony disappointed me by not putting HDMI 2.1 on any of their OLED’s except their 8K model which for some (including myself) isn’t exactly affordable. So I started to think about the LG’s especially since they had started implementing similar video processing tech to Sony in regards to the object bases upscaling since their 2018 models (AI Gen2 professor in this model). I can honestly say this C9 has exceeded my expectations!! I considered the newer CX but with some consideration this was the better value as the biggest differences between the C9 and CX were not large enough to constitute a $600 difference for me. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone coming from an LED or even just an older OLED without HDMI 2.1 support if you’re looking for that tech in your next TV.

First off let me say I bought an open box 65” on 5-31-20 for $1319 + tax & 5yr warranty total $1729. So my savings was incredible. I had to drive little over an hr to pick it up from a particular store. Sadly they didn’t call me to tell me it had no box & it was just bubble wrapped so I could bring appropriate packing supplies but I made due luckily since it can’t be laid flat. Originally A week earlier I bout the 55” with decent savings but really wanted the 65” so when it came available online from a store further out I jumped on it & glad I did since the tv was actually brand new never turned on confirmed in settings By total power on time & came with everything it should just no box so the $880 discount was based off no box it seems & the fact that the 2020 tv’s was rolling in. So in short if u can wait till April, May to make your big tv purchase when old models have to go. Now for the tv & performance! The LG C9 is a great tv. Super thin bout as thin as 2 nickels stacked together which is cool but also means care has to be taken when moving which lg says don’t grab from the corners of the screen. Tv is quick when navigating around menus or apps the remote is cool mouse pointer is handy & fast but also can use remote as normal too. Colors pop & brightness is good glare is not an issue. My 10yr 55” Vizio tv went out 6 months ago so was using kids 1080p 40” since & when I got this I did have eye strain for few days do to brightness, darkness & over all pic quality I’m guessing. I was sick so it could of played a part but after few days it stoped & everything was fine. Just note this could happen at 1st depending on the size tv your coming from & couch Distance. 9-10ft away is a good distance from tv. Off angle performance is excellent so people sitting on chairs couches off to the side of the tv’s center will enjoy the picture quality still unlike other tv’s that use VA screens. App selection on tv is good YouTube Netflix prime Hulu showtime no hbo as of now but you’d still have more choices with a fire stick 4K or Nvidia shield tv Box or similar streaming devices. But the tv has all the basic apps just about but wish it had more or access to play store which there maybe a work around some how but not sure. Either way u buy this tv for its picture & gaming capability not its apps. So you won’t be disappointed in those regards. You can use Google assistant or Alexa also has home kit for Apple & Siri can turn on tv & so on. Speakers are pretty good & actually has some bass just not that really deep low end. Can pair your phone with Bluetooth & listen to music from tv speakers & has on screen player with artists & song info. Also has apple Airplay. Very happy with this purchase but I would highly recommend the geek squad warranty since they are the only ones who cover burnin Incase that should happen. Just vary your tv watching & from the the videos I watched online stay away from CNN or Regular long news watching probably in general. But the geek squad warr will give u a big peace of mind! On the plus side if that dose happen it only takes 15-20mins to switch out the panel with a new one & have repair guys out quickly. Not sure if this will help anyone but love the few weeks I have spent with the tv

I’ve been debating getting this tv for a long time. Once I finally got it, I almost had a heart attack taking it out of the box because of how fragile this tv is. However, once I set up this tv, it does not disappoint! Beautiful tv, with so many customizations. Deep blacks and colors really pop in this tv. Instantaneous response time for gaming. I’m a little worried about burn-in occurring. However, Best Buy geek squad warranty covers that if it were to ever happen, which is fantastic. Plus, when you’re purchasing a tv this nice, you want the warranty anyway. If you have the money, take the leap!

I did a lot of research on the OLED tvs and landed on LG. The picture in the store was amazing. It just seemed better than the others in this price range. The detail was excellent and the depth was incredible. When the Geek Squad did a great job mounting it in a quick and efficient way, and I turned it on, it was awesome! The blackest blacks and the colors jumped off the screen. It has several picture settings that are ideal for different lighting in your room. And dont worry about burn in, LG has a refresh setting to refresh the pixels if you notice any shadowing. I also love the gallery feature that makes your TV blend I to the wall by making it look like a framed painting or picture. Its incredible. Any 4K or HDR movie looks absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this TV for a great high quality picture, and the sound I great too, even without a soundbar. This TV should still be amazing years from now.

We were looking to upgrade are 15 year old plasma and bought a Vizio after a week of adjustment we took it back and decided on the purchase of the LG 65 inch OLEDC9PUA. Honestly this tv in my opinion has no competition when it comes to picture quality and or functionality. The picture is so clear the colors so rich I can't even express it ( you simply have to do a side by side comparison yourself) you won't regret it. You will be taking one home just as I did. I simply love my LG OLED and can't stop myself from telling everyone I talk to about it. Thank you LG and best buy you both are fantastic. Sincerely Jeff & Carol

There is no question this TV has the best picture you’ll find on a TV, and the viewing angles are limitless. The problem is burn in, it’s not if but when. I had a previous LG OLED B6 that suffered burn in to the point the tv was unwatchable for me. I didn’t play video games on the tv, didn’t watch the same channel all day, I mixed up my content and turn the tv off while not watching. I’ll post a picture of the B6 that got burn in. I bought the C9 because BestBuy sales person told me the new models didn’t have the image retention or burn in of the previous models. I return the C9 after 24 hours because of image retention which will eventually will lead to burn in. I watched the CW about 30 minutes the morning after purchase before I took my daughter to school, I left on the TV on took my daughter to school and when I got back (the channel was on about 45 minutes) I changed channels and the CW logo stayed on the screen about 15 seconds before it faded. So you can’t even watch a hour show on a network without image retention that last 10 to 15 seconds. Yes it went away as the TV was only a day old, but over the course of a couple years this would become permanent. If you have a family/theater room that you DONT watch tv on so there are no static images and only watch movies (4K Blu-ray or stream) a few times a week hands down this is the tv to buy. Don’t not buy this tv for everyday 4 Plus hours a day normal tv watching (cable/satellite or network channels) You will eventually get burn in regardless what anyone tells you. I returned this for the Sony X950G which has a beautiful picture. Is the Sony as beautiful as the OLED, no it’s not, but it’s close and no risk of burn in. Here is a picture of the B6 that was 2 1/2 years old and got major burn in and I did not abuse the TV

LG’s OLED’s have absolutely stunning visuals, from the colors to the blacks and whites, this TV is overall amazing. Can’t wait to get more 4K HDR content to truly utilize the OLED technology to the fullest. Coming from a 8yr old 1080p Samsung, this TV should easily stand the test of time until 8K TVs become the new standard tier for consumer homes. Absolutely love it! Price is kind of up there but overall worth every penny.

The best of the best And it shows! This is truly the best TV I’ve ever owned and/or seen. The blacks are amazing and the screen is far, far brighter than I’ve always been led to believe in reviews, etc. The smart tv functionality Is pretty good, although hbo is not available and I have a sling problem (but I doubt many people will have the same issue). The magic remote is nice, but definitely not necessary. The picture though!!! You gotta see it to appreciate it. Worth every penny

I waited too long to buy this TV (previously owned a Samsung). Don't be like me, buy it and enjoy it. Also, don't concern yourself with 8K unless you're going above 80". (my opinion) Perfect screen, such amazing colors! I find myself squinting during dark movie viewing because the blacks go so dark, it makes the whites extremely bright. I see a lot of reviewers online talk about screen brightness, that concern makes more sense if you can't turn off surrounding pixels, but the OLED screen can make whites so much whiter because the pixels around it are completely off. It's like a flashlight pointed at your eyes! There's a reason more manufactures are coming out with oled screens in 2020. They are just better. Another cool thing, watching Netflix, the TV recognizes the input and automatically turns itself to Dolby Vision when applicable. Also worth mentioning, this TV is really smart, it has sooo many options, it can be a bit mind-numbing. One more thing, get a friend to help you unbox. The screen is so thin, it'll feels like you're bending/cracking the screen trying to handle it yourself, trust me. I called my neighbor over to help. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

I spent several months researching several different TV's and it came down to this one and a Sony. I chose the LG, which was $100 higher than the Sony, because it was rated much better in side-by-side comparison in all the electronics magazine, for heat, burn in and clarity. Hanging this TV on the wall was a breeze, however the setting up was a bit more difficult, but this had more to do with the fact that all the electronics that I purchased were new and each of them had different set up needs all going at once. However, once set up was complete - this TV is truly a smart TV, as it controls all the other electronics in one remote. Without a doubt, the picture is absolutely AMAZING, to the point that it may take you some time to get used to the clarity and depth, which far exceeds my previous TV. It is so crystal clear, rich in color and depth that it almost feels 3D, regardless of what you are watching. At times, it actually feels like you are in the room with the actors…… Absolutely the best TV I’ve owned, the best for the price range and I'm actually considering buying a second, albeit smaller one for my bedroom.

This tv replaced a Lg Oled 55 B6 that I bought in 2017. I wanted a 65 but they were about five grand then. That 55 inch B6 oled replaced a Pioneer Kuro 50 inch purchased from best buy in 2008 that is still kicking like new in a guest bedroom. I love black levels the most important thing to me is the TV sets ability to produce black. This is the blackest black I have ever seen. A hair blacker than my B6 and makes my old pioneer look like a lcd with its raised black levels. I first purchased a 75 inch Sony x900f as I was looking for a larger set and I lived with that tv for a week. But after a week of dealing with horrible halos and terrible viewing angles on the Sony I brought it back to bestbuy in the Pandemic in a rented cargo van. LCD just cannot compete with oled. I don’t even miss the 10 inches as the image quality trounces the Sony. I love my oled TVs they are truly the best tv money can buy.

Had this tv for ~ 7 months and use it for a variety of reasons. When watching a true 4K ultra HD movie, everything pops! Watched Rambo Last Blood and we felt like we were there. I’ve had plasma, led, 3D...you name it. No picture comes close to this. For video games, the Instant Game Response mode is brilliant. The tv automatically jumps into this mode as soon as I turn on the console. The input lag in this game mode is hardly noticeable. Like the menu and smart tv options. I’m not into voice command, Alexa or anything like that but if you are it can link to all of those. Do it! Enjoy!

I purchased my LG 65"C9 when it first launched and is my first OLED. I also purchased a 5 year extended warranty for piece of mind. Was quite expensive but the C9 is beautiful, whether gaming or watching movies, even turned off its still amazing to look at. Elegant and nearly as thin as a credit card.

I would recommend this to a friend
