This tv has been even better than I expected it to be when I was purchasing it from Best Buy. The set up was easy, the picture looks amazing and the remote is honestly pretty cool, I really like that it has a cursor and to move it you just move the remote around. This really is a great great deal for this TV, I definitely recommend it!. I bought the 65" which in person feels like a 75 in our living room ( smaller living room ), pictures never have that effect, but trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Been shopping for a new TV for my study room. My choices were this and the Sony. They were going same price. I wanted Sony because I always had Sony. The guy kindly explained the pros and cons and I decided going with Lg due to colors and the os. It's much easier to setup the colors cos it's been setup automatically by factory . They came and mounted for me and i was impressed. I'm glad I chose this because the picture setting much easier to bring the pic as good as possible to my liking. And the OS blew the Android os by miles.

Decent TV but falls short (Not as advertised)

I had this tv for about a week. This tv is not a good buy for the price. Blacks are grey. Doesnt get bright enough. Dark scenes in movies are virtually unviewable. Football has bad motion blur. The OS and magic remote are outstanding but not worth it for the subpar viewing capabilities. Viewings angles weren't as good as advertised. I expected better side viewing from my wide room. I tweaked and retweaked and I just could not get the consistent performance and contrast that I was expecting. I returned it and bought a Sony X900F for a few hundred bucks more. Night and day. Everything I noted as wrong with the LG is corrected with the Sony. I would not recommend this LG TV at this price point. Get the Samsung Q6F for the same price or spend a bit more and get the Sony X900F.

Not a bad TV overall, just some serious flaws

This TV was on my radar when I needed a new larger TV for my basement. I primarily use it for my Xbox One X but I also watch movies on it as well. I looked at the Samsung Q6F, Sony X900F, the Vizio P-Series, and this TV. I actually bought the P-Series 65" and loved the look, the picture, and everything about it. And it's great value for the money. But it broke after 2 weeks. I returned it not wanting to take the chance on a new one breaking outside the return period. I saw this was the same price as the Q6F but offered full-array backlighting, Atmos support, and a $200 gift card back as well. In the store it certainly looked nice. Not quite as vivid as the Samsung, but I thought I'd see. The one thing you notice first about this TV is the contrast. Or I should say lack there of... I'll say it. It's terrible. Blacks look gray in dark scenes, there is a LOT of flashlighting (halos around objects in dark scenes) and terrible banding where a whole side of the screen will light up in dark scenes because the auto-dimming is so terrible. I don't think there are many dimming zones on this TV. When loading menus with white letters and a black background on games, literally a third of the screen would be lit up beaming around the words. Even in dark scenes (playing State of Decay 2 at night in the game), the banding would seriously darken a third or more of the screen and it would be obvious it was trying to up the contrast (badly). I have no idea how a full-array backlight TV can be so bad at dimming and contrast. I tried other games and movies and honestly, the picture isn't the clearest either. The TV does get bright for HDR and the colors look good but once a shadow or dark scene come up, you definitely notice the low contrast. If you watch this TV in a bright room you might not notice it as much. But dark room viewing? Don't waste your money. I decided to get the Samsung Q6F and love it. Deep blacks, unbelievable colors, and smooth motion. The Sony is a little too expensive but looks sensational too. It's almost like LG wants you to take this TV back and say 'okay, give me the OLED instead' after seeing this TV's picture problems.

Disappointment for non high def viewing.

Just set up my new SK90000. When movies or tv shows are in HD , the tv has fantastic colors and the black level do appear greyish, but are aceeptable. Watched a HD movie on Amazon Prime and had it set in HDR viewing mode. Picture was great, though as mentioned before, black levels are disappointing but acceptable. Now the bad: When watching tv shows that are not in High Def, ie. MASH, Andy Griffith, the picture is washed out. Very disappointing. Have tried various setting, but for a $1000 tv, I should not have to keep adjusting the picture with every show. Have yet to find a good setting for non HD tv shows or movies. For now leaving it on the APS setting. Older tv shows and movies are, much, much better on my old 2012 LG. Still have a few days yet to either keep or return it. My other choice was the Sony 900F. Initially chose the LG for its angle viewing, as my viewing area is long and narrow. If can't figure this tv out via tweaking, returning for the 900F

Great TV Unless you are sensitive to blooming

Not much else to add that isn't said elsewhere. I bought this unit and enjoyed for a few days until I watched a few dark scenes with bright objects. As mentioned elsewhere, the very crude backlight local array dimming on this unit is quite poor at dealing with dark scenes. For one, dark background seems to always be gray rather than black. Bright objects in dark scenes bloomed terribly, even when settings were adjusted to help reduce this. For me this was a deal breaker. I returned the unit. If you don't notice or care about this, then this might be a good TV for you. Colors are vivid and the panel is bright with great viewing angles. The LG remote and user interface is the best in the business in my opinion.

I cannot review the product I purchased, because LG conveniently changes the model number as time goes on to get rid of the bad reviews that accumulate as they break. I purchased the 65UH8500 for the same price as this TV is listed for in November of 2016. The picture was great and I liked the functionality. After 3 months however, the TV wouldn't turn on anymore. LG came out and fixed it with a major repair. Now, a little over a year later, the TV won't turn on anymore. LG will not help this time. After 18 months, I am stuck with a worthless TV for $1700. I will never buy another LG product again.

While impressed by the picture in the store, I quickly became disappointed. 1. The unit randomly shuts down and reboots while in the middle of TV shows. The unit is not connected to any device that has an auto timeout and all settings are correct. It is also not on WIFI but is hardwired for TV signal. After following troubleshooting directly from LG 3 different times, they are not willing to replace the unit (it's 5 weeks old). They will attempt to repair it but have made it clear that I have to pay for the service visit if they do not find a root cause. This unit is completely useless now. 2. The TV Stand is very unstable and not suitable for a TV of this size (as commented by other reviewers also.). 3. Their Web OS software doesn't allow connectivity to Direct TV Now (no app and "not compatible" with their web browser). So I had to get an adapter to continue watching Direct TV now (wast of money on the smart TV part). LG customer support is completely useless. THey couldn't find my information even though I have an email confirmation the TV is registered. I wish I had purchased the Samsung instead.

LG Smart TV is poor quality

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased an LG 50 inch Smart TV less than 2 1/2 years ago and it has already broken!!!! You would expect a brand new TV to last longer than 2 1/2 years. You know it is poor quality when you can't even turn it on. My mistake was not getting a warranty. This is a TV that you will DEFINITELY want to purchase a warranty on if you don't want to lose your money. Buy this TV at YOUR OWN RISK!
