I bought this TV over the Samsung QLED and was excited at first. After a few days, the motion capture was worse then my 120HZ Samsung I bought 12 years ago. Read a bunch of information on settings to correct but didn't change anything. Also, the sound delay became a problem as well as the choppy picture. Returned after 2 weeks and got a Samsung QLED. Far better TV then the LG I returned.

    OLED TV's suffer from rapid "aging"/ BURN-in

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought a similar model just over a year ago. While it did at first have a great picture, especially with HDR/ Dolby Vision, I was not aware of the huge problem with rapid decay of pixels, either with CNN logos, or with simply using a format that does not completely cover the screen. Sadly, I just notice the other day, that dreaded burn-in aging effect. While I use varying content & devices, including Netflix/MA/Apple TV 4k, Roku/ Cable DVR and more recently "discovered" that the TV itself can do either HD10/ Dolby Vision either via it's App or via my new Apple TV4+. It seems to be a huge problem with LG OLEDS and they always downplay the effect or trivialize complaints. LG OLED TV's had varied in stating the number of hours that these OLEDs will last without mismatch [range was from 30k to 100k hrs., for a 50% decay]. I called LG's customer service the other day, and they sent me a claim number to file with my pics of the defective screen due to differential use. Pixel reset does not remedy the solution, but I found that the Zoom-in feature can take most banners & logos off a cable/Spectrum channel input. The Zoom-in is a pain and I am missing out on the big picture. Other sources that use a full screen without promoting distortion, such as with movies on an AppleTV4k, may help slow further degradation. Sadly, the CNN static elements have made a persistent defect in the Red/Magenta elements, so that it will become visible in movies that use reddish tones. The advanced menu allows one to use a Red Filter to make the burn-in quite apparent & negates that former quality picture. I find that LG's position that they describe on their website is highly misleading. Their so-called test picture is not accurate since the flower pics is on a white background and has different colored flowers. My estimated use of this LG OLED is likely not more than 2,000 hrs or so. Immediately, before this, I had many top of the line Samsung LCD TV with showed no pixel problem with the same input for 3-5+ years. Some of my relatives still have the original LCD TV's that I bought them for almost a decade...without this problem. If you do a simple Internet search, you will find lots of problems with LG OLEDs, that they seem to ignore. While ironic, they did give me a case number which started with CNN1909...... I sent out the required screen pics in several different ways. I am afraid to buy another LG OLED TV and will warn others as to this effect. While I do expect a response from either these reviews or calling them, I sure wish that they would hurry up, since I finally upgraded my Stereo system [top of the line Yamaha receiver] for Dolby Atmos and to be able to pass a 4K HDR signal. BEWARE OF BURN-IN & short life of these OLED pixels! Some articles also downplay these issues, and are so insulting to anyone who has these problems. Some recommend the inferior QLED type, but I would hesitate to buy from LG again. I am hoping that LG will do the right thing!

    Amazing TV

This is an amazing TV. Picture is superb. I had returned a Nano Cell LCD with full local dimming to purchase this. I watch TV in a dark room and the LCD produced “halo” effect that was quite distracting. This TV shows no halo effect and true black levels. The sound quality is superb as well! No sound bar needed.

    OLED Screen BURN-IN!!!

I bought a 2017 LG OLED C7P and it now shows screen burn-in. I watch channels that have a border at the bottom of the screen and over time the border has burnt into the screen. It’s the only problem I’ve had in an otherwise excellent television. I paid $4500 for this tv and 2.5 years later it’s showing permanent damage. I doubt if this problem has been eliminated by LG on newer models and I feel customers should be aware that this is a real possibility if they buy an OLED tv.

I bought this TV in 2020, it was amazing. Received so many compliments from guests on the picture quality. Unfortunately, the tv only lasted 3 years until the middle tv backlights burned out and yellow images looked green on the screen. Warranty has also expired, sooo definitely not worth the investment.

    BURN IN

    Posted .

Too bad Best Buy doesn't print all the reviews that are negative. I wrote one explaining how my less than 2 year old LG OLED has been destroyed by burn in over 2/3's of the screen. Our $3000 TV is sitting in the den because it is unwatchable. LG replaced the screen as a "courtesy" after less than 1 year but has refused to do anything the second time after less than 2 years. If you don't mind replacing your TV every year or so, buy this TV. Otherwise stay as far away as possible.

    Broke TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought the TV in November 2019 and while watching TV with my kids the picture went out and would not come back on. Called Geek Squad but it would take a week for a tech to come look at it, so they passed me off to LG customer service. Had a LG contractor call me told me they would have to order parts for new panel that would take 3-5 business days to come in even without looking at it. I hate to give a bad review since I have 3 other LG TVs with no issues (1 broke during move, but still works). Pretty disappointed that this one broke and the Geek Squad’s timeliness on having a tech just look at the TV. Right now it will be at least a week without the main TV.

Smart TV needs to work in a connected ecosystem

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'll try and keep this as short as possible. Bought the 65" LG smart OLED TV back in Sep 2016. Paid top dollar for it back then . Now -in my endeavor to connect the TV to other ancillary devices this smart TV isnt so smart after all. This will NOT function as advertised ( https://www.lg.com/us/support/products/documents/EF9500%20Spec%20Sheet.pdf) Make sure to look up the wireless sound sync feature which it claims on the spec sheet. So I call up LG and am conveniently told that the product will only work with LG sound devices. Got an LG sound bar and this thing refuses to work only to be told that they'll have somebody from the exec team call me because I was sold a product that does not work as advertised. really sad! I am going to create an awareness campaign around the fraudulent activities that LG engages in. Spend your money other smart devices like a Samsung for instance. And yes-I am totally tech savvy, Model Number 65EF9500 Serial Number 604RMHR1B769
